Chapter 74

Chapter 74

When the hostess heard them asking about today's schedule, she said, "Anything is fine. Teach Bati whatever she likes and whatever you are good at. You can divide your work among yourselves. But please note that Bati will be enrolled tomorrow. The new school is very strict. You must ensure that Bati can enroll smoothly."

Lu Jiamu smiled and said, "Entrance is more important. What will the school mainly examine?"

The hostess asked back, "Isn't this the job of your tutor?"

Lu Jiamu nodded and decided that it would be best to take Batty to play games today, putting interest first and building a good relationship.

The butler accompanied them upstairs to the room that the host and hostess had specially prepared for Batty to study.

Through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, Lu Jiamu saw that in the dilapidated doghouse behind the villa, Coleman was riding on the necks of three giant dogs, struggling with them, and pulling the dogs' fur vigorously, probably combing them.

The butler and Batty probably saw it as well, but neither of them seemed to think there was anything wrong.

Batty looked at them expectantly: "What shall we learn first today? Chess?"

Lu Jiamu retracted his gaze and shook his head: "No."

There were a lot of strange things in the room and he couldn't quite figure out what they were used for, so it was better not to touch them for now.

Lu Jiamu saw the magnifying glass and microscope on the table and said, "Let's study natural science first."

He walked to the table and picked up a magnifying glass to look at the butterfly specimen next to it. The originally beautiful butterfly looked like a big ghost face after being magnified.

Yu Leng was caught off guard and startled by the ugliness.

Lu Jiamu paused for a moment while holding the magnifying glass, then continued with a smile: "This is a butterfly. Isn't it beautiful? Now let's observe its antennae first..."

After Lu Jiamu finished explaining the body structure of a butterfly, he placed the butterfly specimen under a microscope and took Batty to look at its wing scales.

After observing the butterfly, Lu Jiamu reached out to a colorful ring that looked like it was used to learn mathematics.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he stretched out his hand, a little face appeared from the seam of the ring: "Don't touch me!"

It seems that there is a big bug in this study room.

Lu Jiamu turned it to the other side: "Let's learn arithmetic."

It took Coleman several hours to pull out the dog's hair and straighten out its three heads one by one.

After combing the dog's hair, she helped the cook girl prepare lunch.

After a morning of interesting learning, Batti was obviously very impressed with Lu Jiamu and held his hand tightly during meals.

The hostess looked at them. "It seems that Batty likes the new tutor very much?"

Batty nodded: "Yeah!"

After the meal, it was time for outdoor learning.

Batty jumped up and down, holding Lu Jiamu's hand. After looking back at the housekeeper who was just supervising from a distance, he whispered happily: "Lu, I feel that you are different from others."

Lu Jiamu looked at her with a smile: "Hmm?"

Batty made a hopscotch gesture, hesitated for a while, and pouted: "My previous tutors taught me seriously, but I could feel that they didn't like me very much. They were afraid that I would go to my mother and the housekeeper and say bad things about them."

Lu Jiamu thought of the room full of messy teaching aids. It might not be because he was worried about saying bad things, but because he was really afraid.

But he still held Batty's hand and said with a smile: "It may be your illusion."

Batty shook his head: "You are different from them. You are not afraid of me saying bad things about mom."

Lu Jiamu said nothing and led Batty to the swimming pool in the manor to start the swimming lesson.

Batti was taken by the housekeeper to change clothes, and Lu Jiamu leaned over to take a look into the pool.

There were many shadows moving quickly in the water, so there must be something unusual in the pool. If Wei Xiaoyan and Yu Leng went down, they might die.

Yu Leng didn't learn his lesson. When he saw Lu Jiamu leaning towards the pool, he also stretched his neck to look inside.

As soon as they stood on the shore, a hand suddenly stretched out from the pool.

Lu Jiamu turned his gaze and noticed that there was a shadow hidden under the water at the edge of the pool.

But Lu Jiamu's figure was blurred for a moment, and his hand passed through his legs and grabbed Yu Leng's calf: "Ah!"

Seeing this, Kouman rushed over, pinched the little hand tightly, pinching it until the hand was deformed, and had to let go of Yu Leng.

As soon as Yu Leng broke free from his restraints, he immediately jumped back and rubbed his golden hair vigorously: "Remember this time!"

Lu Jiamu smiled and said, "Who will teach us how to swim later?"

Wang Biao said: "I... am not very good at swimming."

Coleman had no choice but to say, "Then I'll do it."

Although they had different positions when they applied for the job, the hostess also told them to assign themselves positions, so privately switching positions was allowed.

After she agreed, she went to the fitting room and asked the housekeeper for a swimsuit.

The housekeeper nodded in agreement, quickly prepared another set of clothes for her, and led the two of them back to the pool after they changed their clothes.

After Coleman jumped into the water, shadows in the water quickly surrounded her, reaching out to grab her calves and trying to drag her into the water.

Coleman paused for a moment, then took a deep breath and dived into the water, grabbing the hands in the water one by one, almost breaking the little hands in the water.

Seeing this, the other shadows scattered and fled into the deeper parts of the pool.

Coleman had no intention of holding on to them. When he saw that they all ran away, he surfaced and began to teach Batty swimming skills as if nothing had happened.

The outdoor swimming class ended quickly. After several people took turns teaching her some other things, they returned to the villa.

One of the personal servants went to the second floor to change the dolls' clothes, while the rest of them went together to prepare dinner according to the recipe.

The cook girl was picking pork with a machete in her hand. When she walked to the corner, she suddenly noticed that in the dim light, there seemed to be a person curled up with his back to her, shivering.

The chef girl didn't know the other person's identity for a moment. Although she felt that the figure and clothes were very unfamiliar, she just thought that it was a stranger who was trapped in the cold storage and froze: "Hello?"

The man's body stiffened, and he suddenly turned his head, revealing a hairy black face with a pointed mouth. His moustache was still moving, and he was holding a piece of meat in his skinny hand.

Just now it wasn't shivering from the cold, but was eating.

"Ah! Rat!"

The chef girl was startled and screamed, then she picked up the kitchen knife and chopped at him.

The monster was startled by the scream and was caught off guard by the blow, so it immediately tried to flee. However, because it was not agile, the cook chased it and chopped it several times, and it soon became motionless.

Others also heard the sound and ran over immediately.

The cook girl held up a kitchen knife and said doubtfully, "Old...rat..."

"Why are there rats in the cold storage? The warehouse is always locked."

Lu Jiamu took a look and suddenly asked, "How long can the meat stored by the Batti family be eaten? When will they get the new stock?"

The cook girl immediately flipped through the menu: "Including what the dog needs to eat, it should be enough for six days, and we need to restock every four days."

After she finished speaking, she began to check the hanging pork. After counting them, she said uneasily, "It...how did it eat so much meat?"

Lu Jiamu had also noticed that the monster had an astonishing appetite. If a few more came, perhaps the meat in Batti's stock would not be enough to last until the next restock.

The sudden appearance of this monster reveals an ominous meaning.

"Let's see if there are any more mice."

Several people walked around the cold storage and did not see any other monsters, nor did they find any holes that could allow monsters to sneak into the cold storage. They walked out of the cold storage with some doubts.

This time, the cook girl carefully locked the cold storage door, reached out and pushed it, and after confirming that nothing could get in through the gap in the door, she nodded and followed them to carry the food back to the villa for processing.

Before dinner started, the butler came over to ask if they were ready, and the cook asked about it.

"Rats?" The butler's tone was official, but there was still a hint of gloating in it. "The manor does have rat infestations from time to time, and they will sneak into the warehouse with people. But as a chef, don't you have the obligation to look after the ingredients?"

Once the housekeeper talks about responsibilities and obligations, nothing good will happen. The cook girl suddenly felt a little scared, but she still responded, "Indeed."

After the food on the menu was delivered to the table one by one in order, several people returned to the kitchen.

Just like yesterday, Batty wolfed down the food as soon as he saw it, while the manor's host and hostess pretended to eat but actually put nothing into their mouths.

The cook girl watched them from a distance, feeling somewhat uneasy, and after a while wanted to leave the kitchen.

Lu Jiamu stopped her and asked, "The masters haven't finished dinner yet, what are you going to do?"

"I think..." The cook clutched her apron nervously, "I'm afraid there are still rats in the cold storage. It would be terrible if they ate all the meat."

"No. There shouldn't be any rats in the cold storage." Lu Jiamu pinched his chin. "Didn't the housekeeper just say that rats would sneak into the cold storage with other people? It's possible that they only appeared after we entered. We just need to be more careful tomorrow."

The chef girl chose to trust his words and patted her head: "It just said that, and I suddenly panicked."

The food on the table was quickly cleared away by Buddy. As usual, the hostess touched the corner of her mouth with her napkin, asked for her opinion, and then signaled to come over and clean the table.

Lu Jiamu and others walked out of the kitchen to collect the plates. After gathering the remaining meat together, they took out the food prepared for the three vicious dogs today and mixed it together. Then Wang Biao took it to feed the dogs.

After Batty pestered Lu Jiamu for a while, he was called upstairs by the hostess to go to bed.

After Wang Biao came back from feeding the dog, they returned to their various rooms and locked the doors early.

At the stroke of nine in the evening, someone knocked on their door again. This time, no one thought of opening it.

But the painting on the wall turned its neck and looked straight at them. The whole face in the painting was already prominent, so Lu Jiamu couldn't pretend not to see it.
