Chapter 54 Mental Hospital 6

Chapter 54 Mental Hospital 6

A dark glint appeared in Xu Xi's eyes. Her slender fingers gripped the pen tightly, and she asked with an inscrutable expression, "When?"

Lu Cen hesitated for a moment, then swallowed back the words he was about to say. He felt that this topic was strange.

"Um?"

Lu Cen broke out in a cold sweat, and with difficulty, she met the other person's deep gaze and said, "The...the other day."

"How often?"

Lu Cen was sweating even more: "Just once..."

The pen tip made a soft sound as it touched the paper. A few weak rays of sunlight shone through the window and flickered on the floor. Xu Xi looked up: "Like me?"

The atmosphere suddenly became strange.

Lu Cen dared not look at him, only feeling tormented. What kind of things were going on?

His ear tips were slightly red, and his neck was so white it was almost translucent, giving him a sickly beauty. Xu Xi looked at him quietly for a while, then said calmly, "That's enough for today."

Lu Cen breathed a long sigh of relief.

However, by the afternoon, Lu Cen felt that Xu Xi was probably seeking revenge. If yesterday's electric shock was gentle, then today's electric shock fully embodied those two words. He was really being shocked. He got off the bed, drenched in sweat, his whole body trembling slightly.

The hospital gown was sticking tightly to my skin, which was extremely uncomfortable.

Lu Cen leaned against the wall, and after taking just one step, the lingering electric shock surged up his spine. His legs went weak, and he knelt down, sweat dripping from his chin onto the ground, forming a small droplet.

A long arm wrapped around her hunched back: "Are you alright?"

Lu Cen instinctively flinched, and before he could speak, he was lifted into the air and placed on a hospital bed, then pushed back by a nurse.

He thought he was the worst off, but then he ran into He Zhizhou at the door. The man was unconscious, with blood on his forehead and face, and the bed sheet was stained red. It was a shocking sight.

Lu Cen felt a chill in his heart. He caught a glimpse of Xu Xi coming out out of the corner of his eye and quickly looked away.

The sun slanted and gradually disappeared.

As the light dimmed, Lu Cen mustered her courage and followed He Zhizhou to the archives. So far, four people had died. Two of them had died before they arrived, both of them nurses. The other two, a nurse and a security guard, seemed unrelated. Their only commonality was that they both worked at this mental hospital.

Lu Cen even had to go to great lengths to find out their names.

The archives were deserted year-round. He Zhizhou took out a wire and fiddled with it for a few moments. With a slight sound, the door opened, and dust billowed up in the wind. Lu Cen turned his head, covered his mouth, and coughed for a long time. He Zhizhou said, "Search separately."

Lu Cen nodded with tears in her eyes.

The hospital facilities in the 20th century were simple. There were several rows of bookshelves filled with things, all covered in a thick layer of dust. Lu Cen wandered around for a long time before finally finding the staff files.

There were five or six books in total.

Since its inception, the staff has changed several times. When Lu Cen saw Xu Xi's name, he lowered his voice and said, "He Zhizhou."

A figure emerged from the bookshelf and squatted on the ground, just like Lu Cen.

Unfortunately, they looked at it twice but couldn't find anything amiss. As for the deceased, they came from different hometowns, attended different schools, and even had very little contact with him at work.

The first victim was Liu Ran, aged twenty-seven, who was in charge of the morgue.

The second victim was Lan Yi, number twenty-seven, a nurse on the second floor.

The third victim was Li Ling, a nurse on the third floor, who was 28 years old.

The fourth victim was Zhao Hai, 41, a hospital security guard.

At first, they thought all the victims were women, so perhaps it was a crime of passion or some other reason. But with the addition of a man, the case became even more complicated.

Moreover, the hospital has very few security guards, only five.

This place is sparsely populated and has a good location. Plus, nothing usually happens here, so there aren't many security guards. But then, Zhao Hai died. Why him?

Lu Cen frowned, his mind a jumble of thoughts.

He was in poor health in real life and had read a lot of novels and watched a lot of TV shows about this kind of case, but when he was actually in the case, he realized that his intelligence was not up to par.

"They're gone."

The two restored the place to its original state, spending a considerable amount of time in the archives. When they came out, it was already completely dark, and the shadows of the trees in the distance created an eerie atmosphere.

Lu Cen ran a few steps and grabbed He Zhizhou's sleeve: "Where are we going now?"

"Go check the exit."

Lu Cen hesitated, wanting to say something but then stopped. He was afraid to go back alone, so he could only follow closely behind him.

In the darkness, Lu Cen could vaguely see a light in the distance. As he got closer, he realized it was a street lamp. Looking at the bridge that had sunk to the bottom of the river, Lu Cen's mouth dropped open. The only way out was a wooden bridge over the long river, but now, one end of the wooden bridge had broken and sunk into the river. The river water was dark, and he couldn't tell how deep it was.

He Zhizhou squatted down and examined the fracture closely. The cut was clean and smooth, not like a natural break, but rather like it had been cut by some sharp weapon with astonishing force.

He Zhizhou remained silent, and the surrounding environment made Lu Cen increasingly uneasy, so she tugged at his clothes again.

"The murderer came prepared."

Lu Cen asked, puzzled, "What?"

"These people who died were all his targets."

"You mean, the murderer meticulously planned this whole thing?" Lu Cen's gaze fell on him.

"If he cut down the bridge, it's highly likely. Even if he didn't, the person who cut down the bridge is closely related to the murderer."

The fact that He Zhizhou has come to this conclusion essentially puts the matter to rest.

On their way back, fearing they might run into someone, the two took a detour via a side road. Lu Cen had something on his mind: "If that's the case, what does it have to do with the players?"

2299: "What do you think?"

Lu Cen: "Could it be that the murderer really wanted to kill me on the first night?"

2299 remained silent.

Lu Cen's hair stood on end: "Then why did he let me go?"

Lu Cen's mind was in turmoil. It seemed that their identities as players were not so simple.

Suddenly, an intense, ticklish itch came from his hands. Lu Cen scratched a few times in confusion, and this action was quite something. The itch instantly invaded his limbs and bones, penetrating deep into his marrow. Lu Cen's face stiffened, realizing that the buff had arrived again.

"What's wrong?" He Zhizhou turned to look at him.

Lu Cen's steps faltered, and her breathing became much heavier.

The night breeze did not dissipate his heat at all; on the contrary, it made him feel even hotter.

The long shadow gradually encroached on Lu Cen's figure until it was completely enveloped. He Zhizhou spoke with concern, like a steady elder from next door, but the content was not what he meant: "Why is your body all red? You have so many red spots."

Lu Cen didn't pay attention to his words. It felt as if thousands of tiny insects were biting his body, and the itching shot straight to his nerves. He almost couldn't help but cry out.

Although He Zhizhou was right in front of him, in Lu Cen's mind, he was still a dangerous person. If he had a choice, he would never deal with such a person. Therefore, the first person he thought of was Xu Xi.

He walked past He Zhizhou with difficulty, without saying a word.

He Zhizhou paused for a moment, quite surprised.

Just as Lu Cen was about to step into the hospital, his wrist was suddenly grabbed and pulled. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Xu Xi waiting for the elevator. He was a little angry: "What are you doing!"

As he turned into the side alley, a flash of cold light appeared, and a dagger was thrust into his vulnerable neck.

Lu Cen was startled and stammered, "Players can't..."

"I know I can't use my fists, but I can still bleed." He Zhizhou said in an unreasonable manner.

Lu Cen's itching was somewhat suppressed by this unexpected turn of events. He didn't know what had gotten into this person, changing his expression so suddenly. Judging from his expression, it didn't seem like he was joking. Lu Cen's legs went weak and he couldn't stand up.

"Tell me, is this place better, or this place?" He Zhizhou's dagger moved continuously over his body, as if trying to pick the most satisfactory spot.

"Why not right here?" The dagger tip landed on the collarbone.

The cold touch and his tone made Lu Cen's skin crawl. He tried to stay awake, but his hand still unconsciously gripped He Zhizhou's wrist. The wrist bone pressed against his palm, making Lu Cen's desire rise again and again. The warm skin was fatally attractive to him. He completely forgot what kind of scene he was in and only thought about leaning against this person's arms.

He thought this way, and he did it.

He Zhizhou was taken aback and failed to stop the dagger. A thin line of blood bloomed on his skin, and a few drops of blood floated in the air before suddenly falling into the grass.

Lu Cen is extremely small, especially in this instance.

Stray strands of hair brushed against He Zhizhou's cheeks and ears as he whispered, "You..."

He paused, and a bloodshot tinge appeared in his eyes.

The events that occurred in the treatment room that afternoon flooded back into my mind. The white room was filled with countless monitors, and the images on them played over and over again: suppressed breathing, restrained movements, dazzling white light, and erotic scenes, over and over again, for the entire afternoon.

And one of the main characters is now holding him intimately, completely dependent on him.

Before Lu Cen could react, he was pushed into the bushes. His mind went blank, and a hand grabbed his neck. His face turned red instantly. He Zhizhou gritted his teeth as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn't. He stared at Lu Cen for a moment, then leaned down and kissed him in a way that left no room for refusal.

Lu Cen's eyes widened; she wanted to avoid it but couldn't.

A few seconds later, the buff gained the upper hand, to the point that both of them went a little crazy.

Gradually, the redness faded, and Lu Cen regained her senses.

Then he realized that their current posture could no longer be described as excessive.

When He Zhizhou kissed his chest again and moved to his lips, Lu Cen dodged, placing his hand between them. He opened his bright red lips and said, "He...He Zhizhou?"

Without pausing for a moment, the other person grabbed his hand and pressed it down, their lips and tongue plunging into his mouth. Lu Cen was dumbfounded, stunned by this action.

Until a terrified scream echoed throughout the hospital.

He Zhizhou looked up, standing a finger's width away from Lu Cen: "Sorry."

Lu Cen: "..."

He moved his mouth, then reluctantly straightened his clothes, only to find that his chest was covered in marks. He fastened the buttons with trembling hands and waited for half an hour before going back.

Unlike his miserable appearance, He Zhizhou returned to his usual lazy demeanor.

As soon as I entered the hospital lobby, a thick, pungent smell of blood hit me.

Blood meandered out from the center and flowed to Lu Cen's feet.
