Chapter Sixty-Eight: Killing the Demon 8

Chapter Sixty-Eight: Killing the Demon 8

Ados's expression softened, and he pulled a piece of food wrapped in paper from the side of his horse's back. "Eat this little bit, and we'll start a fire tonight."

The living conditions in the three instances Lu Cen experienced were all quite good, and the environment wasn't bad either. Looking at the dry bread, he only ate a small portion, thinking he would eat more later that night. Poor Lu Cen had no idea that a hellish life awaited him next.

He needed to use the restroom after he finished eating, so Ados told the others to go first, leaving the two of them behind.

Lu Cen leaned against a tree, noticing Ados staring intently at her, her face turning red. "Go away, I can't get up if you keep staring like that."

Ados refused, saying, "The forest is too dangerous."

Lu Cen had no choice but to give in, "Then, then turn around."

He was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday, which Himi had picked out. The belt was fastened very tightly, and Lu Cen's fingers were red from the effort, but he still couldn't undo it. Lu Cen was anxious, and in his anxiety, he panicked and his hand was cut by the sharp metal buckle. He let out a short cry. Ados didn't care whether he turned around or not and walked straight towards Lu Cen, cautiously observing the surroundings. "What's wrong?"

"The buttons are too tight, I can't unbutton them."

Ados immediately noticed the red mark on his index finger; although it was obvious, it wasn't bleeding.

"I'll help you."

As soon as the latch was released, Adossk turned around, and after a while, he heard the sound of flowing water behind him.

It took the two of them half an hour to catch up with the group, and the redness on Lu Cen's face had almost faded.

After walking for several days, the trees grew thicker and thicker. At first, sunlight could still filter through, but now we can't see any golden light at all.

The roadside grass grew increasingly lush, making it difficult for the carriage to pass.

Lu Cen hasn't been feeling well these past few days. Although he's been staying in the carriage, he only gets out to move around during dinner time. His back aches, his waist is sore, and his legs are swollen from sitting and lying down for so long. Because of the lack of movement, he gets dizzy if he gets up too quickly.

So one morning, he woke up and, not wanting to stay inside any longer, asked to ride a horse.

Ados didn't mind switching with him; he asked, "Can you ride a horse?"

Lu Cen was stunned.

In just a few days, Lu Cen's chin has become noticeably sharper.

As the son of an earl, he had been pampered for a long time, and even the slightest hardship could make him feel like he was dying. Thinking about the journey ahead, Ados was unsure whether his decision to leave him behind was right or wrong. He sighed, feeling both resigned and troubled. "Come on up, I'll take you."

Having successfully gotten away from the carriage, Lu Cen's eyes lit up.

After half an hour of novelty, he discovered that riding a horse was more painful than riding in a car.

First of all, he couldn't move, his posture was fixed, so he had to stand up straight, his legs gripping the horse. The mountain road was rugged and uneven, and as the horse moved, the inside of his thighs were chafed painfully. Ados was also hugging him from behind, and when they were close, the presence of another person was strong.

He felt uncomfortable and wanted to get away, but his waist was held tightly.

Lu Cen had a lot of unspeakable suffering.

After a short lunch break, Lu Cen went back to his car and closed the door.

He pulled up his pants and saw that his inner thighs were chafed and red, with some areas even broken and burning. Lu Cen couldn't help but tear up. Yados came over and knocked on the car door, "Why did you close the door? Isn't it stuffy?"

"It's not boring."

"Creak—"

The carriage was briefly opened and closed, and an extra person entered the enclosed space.

The space was already occupied by clothes, leaving only enough room for Lu Cen to move around easily. Now that a mature man had joined the room, the space suddenly felt cramped and small.

When Ados heard his voice trembling with sobs, muffled and small, he thought something had happened to him and wanted to come in to check on him. But what he saw next was this scene: Lu Cen's pants were half down, loosely draped over his knees, his white thighs exposed in the dimly lit carriage, spread apart to the sides. His shirt was bunched up at his waist, and the hem of his shirt hung down from his crotch, barely covering the view between his legs, which was faintly visible.

He was looking down at his crotch, as if examining himself. When he saw him come in, he stared at him blankly with his wet eyes, his pupils glistening with tears, looking extremely aggrieved.

"You..." His voice was hoarse beyond belief.

Startled awake, Lu Cen frantically tried to cover herself, muttering, "Why didn't you say anything before coming in? Why didn't you knock...?"

Complaints like these.

Ados looked away and covered Lu Cen's legs with his coat. In his haste, his fingers somehow touched Lu Cen's skin, smooth and cool with a hint of forest chill, causing Lu Cen to let out a soft cry, "Why are you touching me...?"

Ados: "......"

"Excuse me." Ados stared at a spot in the carriage, politely avoiding looking at Lu Cen, and asked his question, "What were you doing just now? Were you reading to yourself?"

Lu Cen was extremely surprised, pulling her clothes tighter around herself, "Why would you think that?"

"Then why did you take your pants off?"

"I..." Lu Cen found him unreasonable. Who would do this in broad daylight in front of so many people? He was so angry that his nose turned red. "I was just looking at the injury on my leg! What do you mean by 'self-study'? How shameless!"

The carriage fell silent. The wheels rolled over a protruding pebble, and half of the carriage suddenly rose. Yados lost his balance and fell towards Lu Cen. Half of his body pressed down on Lu Cen, the contact point was soft and cool. The side of Lu Cen's neck was right next to Yados's chin, and that piece of skin magnified in his eyes, like a piece of fine jade, shimmering with a luminous halo.

Ados instinctively sniffed, like a dog, smelling the scent first.

Perhaps because he had been in the forest for too long, Ados smelled a bitter scent, like grass, or like newly sprouted leaves, green with a hint of yellow.

"How did you get the injury on your leg?"

Startled by the heat of his voice, Lu Cen covered her neck with her hand. Her slender white fingers were reflected in Ados's eyes. His throat was dry and he was extremely thirsty.

The wrist was thin and weak, with rounded wrist bones, and was small in size.

Lu Cen pushed him out forcefully, "You're so heavy, get up first."

Yados used the momentum to return to his original position, leaning on the wooden box behind Lucen, and asked again in a low voice.

He was clinging to her relentlessly, and he was taking up most of the space. Lu Cen huddled up, feeling wronged, and just wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible. "I got my skin chafed from riding the horse."

When Ados was young, he learned to ride a horse. The first time, he learned for an hour and came off completely unharmed. Not only were his skin chafed, but his hands weren't even red. When he heard this answer, his first thought was, "She's too delicate. How can she be so delicate? What will happen to her next?" He felt a pang of heartache. "Is it serious? Let me see."

look?

How do you see it?

Lu Cen also had his pride, and he felt extremely embarrassed to have people staring at that spot.

"No need, it's just a minor injury," Lu Cen quickly said. "You should go out now."

Ados's tone hardened, "We didn't bring many medicines. If the injury worsens, it could be fatal. Listen to me, stick your leg out so I can see."

Lu Cen thought he was exaggerating, but he couldn't argue with Ados. He was practically forced to his feet and his outer coat was ripped off, revealing two slender, pale legs. The little flesh on his thighs trembled in the air. Ados pulled his clothes aside, making it even clearer to see them.

The inside was red, with patches of skin turned inside out, revealing the red flesh underneath.

The injury was minor, but it appeared more serious because of my fair skin.

Lu Cen didn't feel anything after the pain subsided, but Ados looked at her as if she were facing a formidable enemy, observing her cautiously for a long time.

Lu Cen became increasingly uncomfortable and tried to close her legs. "How much longer are you going to watch?"

Ados woke up with a start, covered him, and left the carriage. He returned shortly after, holding a small white bottle. He pressed Lu Cen down, dipped his finger into the bottle, scooped up a clump of white, mud-like paste, and without a word, put it between Lu Cen's legs. The cool medicine melted under his warm finger, leaving a thin layer on Lu Cen's leg, instantly reducing the burning pain.

"Keep this safe, use it once in the morning and once at night." Ados handed him the bottle.

Lu Cen felt much better, and her voice lowered. "Thank you."

He handed the water bottle to Ados, saying kindly, "Clean your hands."

After applying the medicine, some of the remaining white ointment was still stuck to his hands. He took the water bottle, but instead of washing them, he rubbed them on Lu Cen's legs a few times. After cleaning them, he stopped, considering it his handwashing. Lu Cen was furious and glared at him as he was about to pull up his pants.

Ados pressed him down, "It's not dry yet. Do you want your pants to be covered in it?"

Lu Cen was silent for two seconds, then pulled his coat over his head and covered himself with it.

"Young Master." A guard called out from outside the carriage.

Ados told Lucen to get some rest before leaving. "What is it?"

"We found hoofprints and signs of a fight ahead."

The entire procession stopped. Ados followed the guards forward. The captain of the guards was squatting beside a large tree, carefully examining the bloodstains splattered on it. When he saw Ados approaching, he showed no outward sign of anything unusual, but inwardly he was very disdainful. They were going to do serious business, not go sightseeing. These past few days, Ados's mind had been completely preoccupied with Lu Cen. One moment he was taking him to find water to bathe and change clothes at night, the next he was hunting rabbits and pheasants for him to roast, completely forgetting about the Ice Blade. It was as if the two of them were on their honeymoon.

I don't know what I was doing in the car just now, but seeing Ados's lovey-dovey face annoyed me.

"Has the captain of the guard made any discoveries?"

The tall man concealed his expression and nodded. "This bloodstain is human blood. It must have been an attack. After a fierce conflict, they were no match for the attackers and fled in haste. Judging from the scene, there were about seven or eight people involved. As for the targets of the conflict, they were probably wild animals."

“The animal footprints are shallow and small, but this section is particularly dense, indicating a small group of wild animals.”

Having roamed the Roshi Forest for many years, Ados knew exactly what animals were on the outskirts. He was also familiar with this footprint; it belonged to a golden frog, with a pale golden body and orange fur on its forehead. It was a social carnivore, very intelligent, with almost no natural enemies on the outskirts. Its numbers were so great that it wasn't even afraid of the mighty tigers. It was also particularly disgusting, taking a bite out of anything it saw.

The bloodstains and footprints disappeared into the distance to the east; it was unknown how many of those people would survive.

"We'll take a detour."
