Chapter Twenty-Two: School Ghost Stories 22
The night wind was chilly, and the shadows of the trees flickered.
The two figures intertwined, their breaths mingling.
In the quiet environment, the sound of water gradually rose, and footsteps could be heard outside.
Lu Cen's heart skipped a beat, and he pricked up his ears to listen to the sounds outside. The footsteps grew closer and closer, and then they entered the classroom. Lu Cen pushed Su Yi'an aside, and in the dim light, he saw that it was the student in front of him. The student was breathing heavily, and his exposed skin was covered in blood, as if he had suffered a serious injury.
Upon seeing Lu Cen, he was taken aback: "What are you doing here?"
As they spoke, they heard footsteps from outside, along with foul-mouthed insults.
The person coming was chasing after the person at the table in front of them. Someone said, "Don't hide anymore."
"I know you're in there."
"This place is so small, do I really need to come in and look for it?"
"Don't waste my time," the man said. "If you get it over with quickly, I might make you feel better."
A group of people walked in and immediately saw Su Yi'an standing there. Lu Cen and the student in front of them hid under their desks, not daring to breathe.
"He's not here." Su Yi'an walked outside.
They looked a little hesitant, but still followed.
Not long after they left, another person entered the classroom.
He paced around the classroom, and judging by the situation, he would find a place where the two were hiding in less than a minute.
Lu Cen was extremely anxious but couldn't find a good way to deal with it. The only thing she could do was to open the door and run away while he was far away.
Lu Cen did the same.
The two ran out the back door and separated. The man's footsteps chased after Lu Cen, who ran down the stairs, panting heavily, when his leg tripped over something.
He fell heavily to the ground and was stunned for a long time.
"Who are you?" The man's expression changed when he saw Lu Cen's face.
Where are the others?
Lu Cen knew who he was asking: "They ran in another direction."
"Then why are you running?"
Lu Cen was speechless. He didn't know they weren't there to chase him. Was he supposed to just run and get beaten up?
He thought the other person would go after the student in front of him, and he could take the opportunity to leave. But the person's eyes gradually became fierce, and his gaze became more and more unfriendly, making Lu Cen feel uneasy.
"What...what are you doing?"
The man smiled and said, "What do you think?"
Lu Cen had a bad feeling. Sure enough, the other party picked him up and tried to drag him upstairs. Lu Cen resisted, and in the struggle, no one noticed a shadow sliding down the ground.
In an instant, the shadow grabbed the other person's neck with one hand, twisted it hard, and with a "crack," the person fell limply to the ground without making a sound.
Lu Cen was terrified, huddled against the wall. He had many wounds on his body, and a drop of blood dripped from his fingertips from time to time. Perhaps because he was strong enough, the snow-white figure came from afar, and his shadow fell to his feet.
It raised its eyes, and a pair of eyes with only the whites of the eyes fell on Lu Cen.
"waste."
Lu Cen didn't speak, afraid that it would come up and hit him back, so he silently tried to make himself less noticeable.
"So useless, it might as well be dead." It looked it up and down critically and commented.
Lu Cen dared not speak her anger, but glared at him.
It just doesn't have much power; instead, it seems to be transmitting some kind of signal.
Xiang Ming was somewhat annoyed and left directly.
Lu Cen was stunned for a moment. Was he just going to let him go like that?
Before the idea could be put into practice and was still swirling in his mind, Xiang Ming returned, carrying two people in his arms, and casually tossed them in front of Lu Cen.
Xiang Ming raised his chin: "Do you want to become stronger?"
Lu Cen looked at him with suspicion.
"Kill them, and you'll naturally get everything you want."
Lu Cen was startled: "No need."
Xiang Ming: "What? You don't want to become stronger?"
“I want to,” Lu Cen said, looking directly at him, “but not in this way.”
"Why?"
"I don't want to kill anyone."
Xiang Ming trembled uncontrollably, as if he had heard something hilarious.
Lu Cen: "...What are you laughing at?"
Xiang Ming said, "Even if you don't kill them, they will die anyway; they can't escape this fate."
"Who else but you would kill them?"
"Is that what you think?" Xiang Ming's eyes were filled with mockery, yet also disdain.
"If it wasn't you, who else could it be?"
Xiang Ming seemed to find it hard to understand, staring at him for a long time before saying, "So naive? You won't live long if you're this naive. To avoid dying at someone else's hands in the future, it's better for you to die at my hands."
Seeing that he didn't seem to be joking, Lu Cen curled up into a ball.
Seeing how cowardly he was, Xiang Ming was truly amazed and sneered, "So afraid of dying."
"Who wouldn't be afraid?"
"Death is a process that everyone must go through. What's the use of being afraid?"
