Generations

Generations

Three days had passed before Song Shiwen saw Zhao Yuwei. When he returned to school, he heard that Hui Zifeng had left the school, and no one knew where he had gone.

Even if he had learned the secret that had remained elusive in the novel, he still couldn't find Hui Zifeng. Similarly, he couldn't find Lu Cangyue. It was obvious that Lu Cangyue had been taken away by Hui Zifeng.

The small town suddenly lost their story.

"You have to take the exam. There will be no make-up exam this year. If you don't take the exam, you will have to retake the entire year's courses." Song Shiwen didn't reveal anything, but when he left the teacher's office, the man in his fifties seemed to see through his thoughts and threatened him lazily.

"Will Hui Zifeng take the exam?"

The teacher laughed contemptuously, "How can you compare with him?"

Taking the exam instantly separated Song Shiwen from the mysterious and legendary story. The sky was high and he could fly freely. He, Song Shiwen, was a student with a lifetime to strive for success.

This delayed him for another week. In his spare time, he looked through all the ads for Zhao Yuwei, but found no information other than a phone number and a short address. He also tried to collect the things Hui Zifeng had left at school and even tried to sneak into his house, but he was either chased by the gatekeeper or fell off a cliff, lying by the water for three days before regaining his ability to move normally.

As soon as he woke up, many pairs of eyes instantly gathered around him.

"Who are you?" Song Shiwen was panicked. However, the other party did not answer. Instead, they forcefully put him into a sleeping bag, tied him up tightly, and immediately put him on the plane.

They didn't answer, and Song Shiwen already knew who these people were.

The Hui family. Their members wore unique insignia. It was difficult for others to detect, but Song Shiwen knew it all too well. This information was mentioned in the novel written by his great-grandfather's great-grandfather.

The similarity is so high that it is hard for Song Shiwen not to believe that the novel is actually an autobiography, not a fictional story.

Soon, Song Shiwen knew he no longer needed to verify it. He lay in the hospital bed, surrounded by dim light. The clock on the wall pointed to three o'clock, but he couldn't tell whether it was three in the afternoon or three in the morning. The only window in the entire room looked out onto a grayish blue.

He wasn't restrained, but his body was glued to the metal bed, and despite all his strength, he couldn't rise. The setting was like an operating room. Song Shiwen was terrified of this dark, enclosed environment. He quickly became overwhelmed by palpitations, fear, and self-destructive tendencies, but there was nothing he could do. He was afraid he'd lose his mind.

The wall in front of him suddenly became transparent. A large amount of light suddenly rushed in. Although it was dazzling, it made Song Shiwen feel better and his mind gradually calmed down.

"Just leave this door open. I don't want him to have a breakdown."

The sound of a wheelchair slowly approached. Hui Zifeng's voice was still as magnetic as before, but his words were polite and distant.

Song Shiwen saw from the reflection on the ceiling that the person sitting in the wheelchair was Hui Zifeng. He felt deeply sorry for his misfortune, but then he thought that he was trapped in this bed, which must be Hui Zifeng's work. He began to convince himself that Hui Zifeng deserved it.

The person following behind Hui Zifeng was Shuixi.

"What is this place?" Song Shiwen hoped that he had misunderstood Hui Zifeng.

"My home." Hui Zifeng approached Song Shiwen's bed.

Song Shiwen lay there, straining to look down before he could see Hui Zifeng's face. He looked as if he had been badly injured, his face pale and his lips blue, but his beautiful eyes still held a thick, polite smile.

"The medicine Cang Yue gave you is called Yu Ru Peng Bo Dan. There are three pills in total. One was given to your ancestor Tao Shangshi, and one was given to you. This is something from our Hui family. The Hui family members have been reluctant to use it, so she gave it away to outsiders first."

So that's why. Song Shiwen quickly interrupted, "Then why don't I just spit it out and give it back to you? What do you want to do by locking me up here? Do you think you can spare my life after you've ripped me open and taken the elixir? If that's the case, I won't pursue what you've done to me."

"This pill is a small matter." Hui Zifeng breathed a sigh of relief.

Song Shiwen could tell Hui Zifeng's body wasn't strong enough to sustain him speaking for long. What on earth was going on? He had been so healthy and bright before, how could he suddenly act like he had a terminal illness?

"So what do you mean by a big deal?" Song Shiwen pressed on impatiently. If Hui Zifeng needed his help, he would absolutely spare no effort to save that person's life. Song Shiwen seemed to have forgotten that his current situation was entirely Hui Zifeng's doing.

"I say, Tao Shangshi, haven't you heard of this name?" Hui Zifeng narrowed his eyes and covered his mouth with his hands to suppress the urge to vomit, as if he was angry at this stupid man.

"No!" Song Shiwen looked innocent. "You just said he was my ancestor. How can I remember which one? My father's surname is Song, my mother's surname is Qi, my grandparents passed away a long time ago, and there is no one with the surname Tao. My ancestors are not like your Hui family, with a large family and a large business. Who knows who Tao Shangshi is? However, I think the more important thing is, what happened to you? Hui Zifeng, you don't look well. Why are you taking so much effort to talk to me? Where is Cang Yue? Does she know you have become like this? If you..."

Knowing that he wouldn't be able to produce ivory, Hui Zifeng said angrily, "Lu Cangyue has nothing to do with you. If you dare to mention her name again, I'll cut off your tongue!"

Song Shiwen obviously didn't believe it and even found it funny, "Yo yo yo! You've watched too many movies! I think you deserve it!"

"Shuixi!" Hui Zifeng clenched his fists to calm himself down.

Shuixi stepped forward, pinched Song Shiwen's chin, and forced him to open his mouth. With his other hand, he actually took out a pliers-like object and stuffed it into Song Shiwen's mouth.

Shuixi's eyes were no longer like a deep well, but now more like a pool of stagnant water, just following orders mechanically. This family really had a lot of tricks up their sleeves.

Song Shiwen waited calmly, but Shuixi didn't move forward any further. He and Hui Zifeng locked eyes, each seeing the other's probing intent. Hui Zifeng conceded, "Alright, Shuixi, back off. Don't hurt him."

"I didn't expect you to be so naive." Song Shiwen laughed.

"If you knew what kind of situation you would face in the second half of your life, you wouldn't be able to laugh." Hui Zifeng slightly revealed the arrogance deep in his heart. Without waiting for Song Shiwen to speak, he was a little impatient to tell Song Shiwen the truth.

"You will stay in this dark place until my next generation needs your heart. Do you understand? You are alive now only to keep our Hui family alive. And you are the next generation of Zang Yue and me. How can you still laugh?"

Song Shiwen couldn't laugh anymore. He tried to move his hands and feet, but he still couldn't control his body at all. The monitoring equipment at the bedside quickly emitted a piercing sound, and Song Shiwen's inner emotions followed the sound like needles, piercing his heart fiercely.

"Don't be like this." Hui Zifeng gently patted Song Shiwen's hand. "Whether Cang Yue's child can live to old age depends on you. Do you understand?"

The shrill alarm sound of the instrument really stopped. Song Shiwen smiled with relief, "For Cang Yue, of course I'm willing. But, Hui Zifeng, if you love her, you shouldn't let her give birth to a child who won't live to old age, right?"

"Well, I'm sorry, this is a curse, not a genetic disease. Speaking of the curse that has been going on in our family for generations, the source lies with your family. You don't know anything about it, do you?"

Song Shiwen took a deep breath and cursed inwardly: Damn it!

The causal relationship of this story is becoming more and more like a plot in a novel. It has been more than four thousand years since the incident, and Hui Zifeng is still digging up old scores. Who can he turn to for justice?

"Don't be angry." Hui Zifeng guessed Song Shiwen's thoughts and kindly advised, "You will be able to see your ancestors soon. Aren't you looking forward to it?"

Would he care about his ancestors? Song Shiwen found it strange. Why had Hui Zifeng dragged his not-so-healthy body to come to him and talk nonsense? What was his purpose? Revenge?

"You're not Huiji Qing!" Song Shiwen blurted out without a second thought, shocking even himself. The second half of his sentence betrayed his lack of confidence: "Huiji Qing shouldn't have any descendants."

Hui Zifeng turned around and smiled, "How could I be Hui Jiqing?"

As expected. Song Shiwen struggled, though he still couldn't move an inch. But this time, it wasn't the equipment monitoring his condition that sounded the alarm, but the bed itself, sounding the hostage safety alarm.

"I'm Hui Zifeng, don't you recognize me? You look so tired, it's better to sleep peacefully." Hui Zifeng smiled. Song Shiwen was operating something on the computer at hand. Song Shiwen felt a numbness in his back, then his limbs lost the ability to move, and finally even his consciousness gradually became blurred.

Song Shiwen knew he had fallen into a deep sleep. He could do nothing.

Shuixi pushed Hui Zifeng's wheelchair out of the underground cave. In front of them was a vast ocean. The sun was about to rise from the sea, and the water surface was already sparkling.

"Stop here for now." Hui Zifeng breathed in the fresh air. The vast scenery made his small chest seem to expand. He loved the sea the most. No one knew this, no one asked. Because no one wanted to understand his preferences.

How sad.

"Did Dad's surgery go smoothly?"

"Yes. Mr. Hui is out of danger now." Shuixi answered stiffly.

"Is this his second surgery?"

"Yes."

"My grandmother also had the same surgery abroad when she was 25, right?"

"Yes."

"What a house of sin." The light on the sea was a little dazzling. Shuixi raised her hand to block it, but Hui Zifeng didn't appreciate it and turned the wheelchair to the other side. "Let me be the last one. But, Shuixi, why did you come back?"

Hui Zifeng paused, suddenly remembering something, and pulled out the "Iron Horse Watching Flowers" from his sleeve. "Is it for Ming Yan? You're quite interesting. You're my house guardian beast. How dare you have any other thoughts besides protecting me and the Hui family? Lu Cangyue has really brought us all to grief."

"kind."

Shuixi's words were unclear. The strong sea breeze prevented Hui Zifeng from hearing clearly, but it didn't matter anymore. He was now absolutely certain that Shuixi wouldn't betray him.

"After my surgery is successful, you will stay here to guard Song Shiwen and his ancestors. This is your only mission from now on. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Sitan." Shuixi said.
