Chapter 25 Purpose

Thanks to the Pokémon vegetables in Sun Ye’s private plot, no one in the Sun family got sick this winter.

Early that morning, an old man came out from the educated youth point. He was Professor Liu Chaobo, who had met Sun Ye once. He was holding a gift bag, which seemed to contain some cakes and the like.

The early morning was particularly cold. I exhaled a breath of white air and inhaled the cold air that chilled my heart and lungs. The wind blowing in my face was as painful as a knife scraping against my face.

Professor Liu stood with his back straight, in stark contrast to the villagers who were hunched over and bowing their heads. Perhaps this was the unique character of a scholar.

Professor Liu arrived at Sun Ye's house, first tidied his clothes, and then gently knocked on the door.

"Brother Sun, are you home?"

I deliberately chose a time when it was neither mealtime nor time for going out, hoping not to disturb others.

At this time, the two brothers Sun Sen were teaching their younger sister Sun Ye to read. Their mother and father lit a fire, and the whole family gathered around it to keep warm.

"Is someone calling me?"

Dad Sun looked at Mom Sun, but Mom Sun's attention was completely focused on the children, so she didn't hear anyone shouting.

"You must have heard wrongly. Who would come out on this day? Besides, if someone called you, you would have pushed the door open to see. Look, there's nothing happening right now."

The villagers are indeed like that, they push the door while shouting, there is nothing particular about it.

When Mr. Sun heard this, he agreed and took off his shoes to warm his feet, as they were so cold that he couldn't feel them.

When Sun Ye saw this, he frowned tightly and said in a sweet voice: "Mom, look at Dad!"

"Sun Xuejun!"

"Take your stinky feet away!"

"You don't mind the stench, but I find it disgusting. The whole room is filled with the smell of your big feet."

Sun's mother kicked Sun's father's shoes and said unhappily that it was okay for them to be so casual when they were together, but now he wanted to mess with his daughter's nose. She couldn't tolerate it.

"Just a moment, just a moment..."

Dad Sun continued to roast his feet and spoke vaguely.

"Brother Sun, are you home?"

Okay, this was a real sound and everyone in the room heard it.

Mother Sun grabbed Father Sun's shoes and threw them over, "Hurry up and see who it is."

Dad Sun sighed, helpless, and had to put on his cold shoes in disappointment. He let out a sigh and muttered to himself: Who is this? He came at such a bad time.

But he put on a smile and went out to open the door.

"Professor Liu, why are you here? Come in, come in, warm up by the fire."

Professor Liu followed Sun's father into the house. When Sun's mother saw them, she immediately moved a stool and went to the kitchen to pour a bowl of boiling tea.

"Professor Liu, since you're here, what else are you bringing?"

Professor Liu placed the gift on the table and said, "This is something my friend sent from Hai City. It's not worth much. It's too sweet. I don't like it very much. I just gave it to the kids to sweeten their mouths."

He took the water handed to him by Sun Ma, blew on it, took a big sip, and felt much more comfortable.

The three siblings Sun Ye just glanced at the bag and didn't stare at it for a long time. Although they wanted to know what delicious food it was, they still managed to keep calm in front of the guests.

"It's so cold out here. Professor Liu, you're still working on your research. You're really working hard."

"For everyone, it's not that hard. There are many people who work harder than us."

“…”

Dad Sun started chatting with Professor Liu about this and that. Actually, Dad Sun didn't know what to say. He had no common topics with intellectuals.

The three siblings, Sun Ye, put away their homework and gathered around to listen to the two men talk.

After just a few words, Dad Sun felt uncomfortable, especially when Professor Liu kept calling him "Third Brother Sun". He really felt ashamed to receive such a call.

"Professor Liu, don't call me brother anymore. Just call me Xuejun or Junzi."

"Oh, that's fine, Xuejun."

“Yeah.”

"Are these your three children? They have clear eyes and are good kids."

"Really? That's what they do."

When talking about this, Mr. Sun touched his head with some pride. After Mrs. Sun coughed, he put his hand down awkwardly. He was used to it.

"This girl's name is Sun Ye, right? She's truly remarkable. It was her words that woke me up from my dream. I've benefited greatly from her. Xuejun, you should train her well and she'll become a pillar of the country."

Professor Liu's words are not an exaggeration. How could a kid that old say such words: It is not knowledge that is ugly, but the human heart.

Father Sun smiled bitterly. He knew that Ye Zi was the smartest among his three children, but he could not read a single word and was an honest old farmer. How could he educate her? She could only rely on herself and learn whatever she could.

But he still agreed to it and trained him well.

Changing the subject, Professor Liu continued, "Xuejun, if you don't mind me, I can teach Sun Ye."

Professor Liu's move was purely out of admiration for talent. He had thought about it for a long time. Of course, it was understandable that others did not agree in order to avoid suspicion. It was just a pity to waste such a good seedling.

"Professor Liu, are you teaching Ye Zi? This..."

Mr. and Mrs. Sun looked at each other, feeling excited but also a little scared, after all, the situation outside was too strict.

But the opportunity is so rare that I can't help but feel conflicted.

Sun Ye had no objection. She listened to her parents and it was her own destiny.

"You don't have to answer me now. You should think about it."

Professor Liu was quite understanding. He had already stated the purpose of his trip, and it all depended on what decision the Sun family's parents would make.

Mr. Sun's face was filled with gratitude, and he opened his mouth to say a series of words of gratitude.

Professor Liu came and left after a while, leaving behind a heavy bomb. When he left, Sun's mother stuffed a basket of dried vegetables into his mouth. The farmer's family didn't have much good stuff, but they still had a handful of vegetables.

Dad Sun looked up at Mom Sun, and they nodded together. Then they stood up together and said before leaving, "You three siblings, stay home and be good. Each of you can only eat one piece of cake on the table. If I come back and see that there are not enough, watch out for yourselves. Your dad and I will go to the old house and sit for a while. We will be back soon."

Sun Ye knew very well that her mother and the others went to the old house to discuss her affairs, but she didn't care about it.

When Sun Sen and Sun Lin saw that the two men had really left, they immediately jumped up and ran towards the table at an incredible speed.

I quickly opened the seal and found it was candy, not cake.

Each of them took a piece and opened the bag. It was black and smelled sweet.

Sun Sen handed Sun Ye's portion to him, and Sun Ye gently broke off a corner and put it in his mouth.

If eyes could shine, Sun Ye's eyes would definitely be bright at this moment. It was silky smooth when put in the mouth, slowly melting in the mouth, with a wonderful and silky taste.

She took out the package and looked at it carefully. There were three words "chocolate" on it, and the rest were written like talismans. She didn't recognize any of them.

Now, she wanted to learn from Professor Liu, so that she could at least know what she was eating.

Chocolate? She seemed to have heard someone mention it before, saying it was a foreign exchange commodity, hard to buy even if you had money, and it was completely unavailable on the market.

So this is chocolate. I put a small piece in my mouth and chewed it.

No matter how slowly you eat, a piece of chocolate is only this big and won't be gone quickly.

After eating it, you want to eat more, especially Sun Lin. He just puts the whole piece in his mouth and chews it. It is very enjoyable, but the enjoyment time is too short.

He looked at his elder brother. Sun Sen ignored him completely. He had this problem since he was a child. He would not share his food with Sun Lin this time, so that he would not stare at him every time he finished eating.

Sun Lin saw with his own eyes that Sun Sen's food was getting smaller and smaller, and the last small piece was about to go into his mouth. His mouth opened wide unconsciously.

Sun Sen closed his eyes. He really owed him something. He stuffed his hand into Sun Lin's mouth and felt pain in his heart.

Sun Lin smiled happily as soon as he got it, and kept saying "Brother, good brother, Brother Sen, Brother Sensen, Brother Sen" without any repetition.

Sun Sen could still accept the first part, but what happened next was so strange, his face was disheveled in the wind, and he immediately said, "Sun Lin, if you keep yelling at me, I'll let you know why the flowers are so red. I won't give it to you next time."

Sun Lin promised not to scream anymore, but he would scream again next time when he was excited.

The three siblings finished eating, smacking their lips and glancing towards the table uncontrollably.

"How about we have another piece, just one. Mom doesn't know how much is in it."

Sun Lin suggested it. Although Sun Sen and Sun Ye were somewhat tempted, they absolutely could not make an exception and go eat there. They still had some self-control.

"No, Mom said I can only eat one piece."

Sun Ye sat on the small stool motionless. She would never lose what belonged to her, and she would never touch what did not belong to her.

"Brother, how about I go to the kitchen and get some corn so we can make some corn."

“This is good.”

Sun Ye immediately went to the kitchen and got a cob of corn. The three of them were very quick and nimble in preparing to eat it. After peeling the corn, each of them got a small handful. Each of them found a direction, dug out some fire ashes, sprinkled the corn on it, and found a wooden stick to turn it over.

The fire was already burning brightly, and the corn popped in no time. Sun Lin's operation was poor and he was impatient, so the least popped, and most of the others were burnt. He didn't mind and ate them all.

Sun Ye had the most popped, only one or two did not pop, and he harvested a full bowl, which made Sun Lin drool with envy.

Sun Sen and Sun Ye had a whole plate of food together. They both ate a little and saved the rest for when Sun Ma and the others came back.

Hearing this, Sun Lin agreed with both hands, which meant that he would have food to eat again.

Sun Ma and the others showed up after dinner time, and they added firewood to the fire twice.

Mother Sun first warmed her hands. In this weather, she should stay at home. She would be so cold that she would shiver if she went out.

"Hey, you guys are also frying corn."

When Sun's mother saw the corn on the table, Sun Lin immediately came to life. He ran to get it and handed it to Sun's mother first. Sun's mother picked up a kernel and tasted it. It was quite good. Then he gave it to Sun's father. Sun's father touched Sun Lin's warm little face. Sun Lin couldn't avoid it, so he had to call Sun's mother.

"You're asking for death. Your hands can freeze someone to death and you're smearing his face." Sun's mother kicked Sun's father.

Dad Sun just laughed and said, what fun is there if children are not born to play?

Sun's mother went to check the candies on the table again, and Sun Lin said again, "Mom, we were very obedient and only ate one piece."

Sun's mother looked at Sun Ye, and Sun Ye nodded. Then Sun's mother didn't say anything. Sun Lin, that kid, sometimes lies, all for food.

"The three of us worked together to get this corn and put it on the fire."

It can be seen that some places on it are indeed covered with dust.

"Really?"

"That has to be true!"

Sun Lin held his head high and chest puffed out. Even though he only had three or four kernels of corn in the plate, it was still corn, just one for the three of them.

Sun Ye and Sun Sen did not refute. Since Sun's mother knew what was going on, they just let Sun Lin be happy.

"Ye Zi, you're going with us to the educated youth camp tomorrow. Dress neatly."

This matter has been resolved, Sun Ye thought to himself.
