Chapter 38 I'm here, don't be afraid...

Shang Xu closed his eyes with a death wish. He thought he would fall to the ground in a sorry state, and the people behind him would be unable to dodge in time and step heavily on him, resulting in at least crippling or even death.

Thinking of such a horrific scene, he couldn't help but tremble. His once rosy lips turned deathly pale with fear, completely devoid of color, like flower petals faded by wind and sun, devoid of life.

But what came before the expected terrifying scene was her embrace.

The cool, fragrant embrace was as comforting as ever.

Having survived the ordeal, Shang Xu couldn't help but raise his hand and tightly wrap his arms around her waist. The fear of facing death made him sob softly.

Yan Yize felt his trembling and sobbing, as if her heart was being gripped by an invisible hand, making it difficult to breathe. She looked down at him, her eyes filled with a heartache she couldn't perceive.

If curiosity is the beginning of liking someone, then feeling sorry for someone is the manifestation of liking someone. Unfortunately, she is too oblivious and has not realized it yet.

She hugged him tightly, gently patting his back with her palms to comfort him, her breath falling on his ear, "I'm here, don't be afraid."

Her clear and pleasant voice, carrying her essence, landed on his heart with each word. The noise around him suddenly disappeared after she finished speaking, but his heartbeat was amplified infinitely, and the roar of his heartbeat resounded in his ears.

They stood there for too long, which drew the ire of those behind them who were unaware of their presence. A plump middle-aged woman looked at them with displeasure and said, "Hey, are you going to leave or not?"

"Don't block the way if you're not going to walk."

"That's right, that's right," the others echoed.

Shang Xu was still feeling the shock. Hearing the urging, he immediately moved. Even though he was reluctant to leave her embrace, he wanted to pull away, not wanting to cause trouble for others, and even less for her.

He barely moved before she pressed him down, her grip on his waist tightening as she said firmly, "Don't move."

After saying that, she patted him gently on the waist to reassure him.

She looked at the older woman who had spoken, smiled gently, and appeared to be a good person who knew she had made a mistake and was willing to correct it. "We'll leave now."

The old woman was initially annoyed that they were standing in the middle of the road, but when she saw such good-looking people smiling at her, she immediately felt embarrassed, chuckled awkwardly, and waved her hand, saying, "No rush, no rush."

The old woman was surrounded by people she knew well, and her behavior immediately drew boos from those around her.

Yan Yize smiled politely, said nothing more, picked up Shang Xu in his arms, and turned to leave.

Ignoring her friends' teasing, the old woman recalled the couple's stunningly beautiful appearance, clicked her tongue, and couldn't help but sigh, "They really are a match made in heaven."

He then looked away, stopped paying attention, and continued chatting and laughing with his friends.

Such an attitude is the complete opposite of those who are trying to manipulate the business order. Some people are indifferent to each other when they meet by chance, while others have malicious intentions.

Shang Xu was held firmly in Yan Yize's arms, without feeling any jolt. He couldn't help but raise his head slightly and stare at her in a secretive manner. Ripples of emotion stirred in his heart. This was not the first time she had held him, but the feeling of security he felt was more intense than ever before.

He stared at her, lost in thought, and couldn't help but raise his hand to cover his chest. His heart was beating so fast and so clearly that it was hard for him to ignore it.

She's so wonderful, no one could resist her.

Yan Yize carried him for a long time until they stopped in a deserted alley.

She put him down, glanced at him worriedly to make sure he wasn't hurt, and then asked, "Are you alright?"

Shang Xu's eyes were red. He was indeed frightened at first, to the point that he couldn't help but sob in her arms. But now, when he thought back, all he could think of was her incredibly comforting embrace.

Shang Xu shook his head gently, "I'm fine."

After speaking, he lowered his head in embarrassment. Yan Yize was concerned about him, but he was still thinking about other things. Shang Xu's eyes darted away, feeling ashamed to face her.

Recalling what had just happened, Shang Xu's eyes were thoughtful. He hesitated for a moment, looked at her, and hesitated before speaking. He didn't know if she would believe what he said.

Yan Yize noticed his hesitation and sighed silently, knowing that it was a sign of distrust. However, his distrust was inextricably linked to her; if anyone was to blame, it was her for wrongly accusing him without distinguishing right from wrong, which led to the loss of his trust.

She touched the tip of her nose awkwardly, her dark eyes looking directly at him, and said earnestly, "You can say whatever you want."

Shang Xu pursed his lips, hesitated for a long time, and then mustered up his courage to say, "When I fell, it seemed like someone pushed me."

His beautiful eyes were fixed on her, a faint hope in them, as he cautiously asked, "Does Your Highness trust me?"

"Of course I believe it." Yan Yize answered without hesitation. She had witnessed it with her own eyes. If she still didn't believe it, what use would her eyes be?

Moreover, she knew his character well. Even though she hadn't witnessed it herself, she believed him. What happened last time was just an accident, and she could guarantee that such a mistake would never happen again.

She didn't tell him that she remembered what the person who pushed him looked like, nor did she tell him that she would find that person and make him pay the price.

Hearing her firm answer, Shang Xu couldn't help but smile, his eyes overflowing with joy. The feeling of being trusted by someone he liked was so wonderful, and all unpleasantness vanished at that moment. "Thank you for trusting me, Your Highness."

His eyes were still a little red, but they were bright, like stars in the sky. When Yan Yize looked at him like that, his face inexplicably flushed, and his steady heartbeat suddenly became disordered.

Yan Yize turned her head away, but couldn't help looking at him again. Infected by him, she couldn't help but smile. Compared to the formulaic smile she gave to others, her smile at this moment was full of more genuine feelings.

"Are we going back now?"

Shang Xu thought for a while and shook his head firmly. Although something bad had happened, he had finally had the chance to be with her, and he didn't want it to end so soon.

He gently shook his head, blinked, and asked her softly, "Can we stroll around a little longer?"

Yan Yize nodded, "Okay."

Since we were asking for his opinion, we should naturally prioritize his opinion.

Yan Yize was still a little worried. She cautiously looked him up and down, and after confirming that he was alright, she stepped forward and abruptly took his hand.

Seeing him staring at her in astonishment, she pointed to the surging crowd on the street and explained, "This way, no more accidents will happen."

Let's go.

After Yan Yize finished speaking, she took his hand and walked straight ahead. She walked as usual, but Shang Xu was suffering because he didn't know how to react. He was like a stiff puppet, and every step he took was a mixture of sweetness and pain.
