Chapter 45 Heartbreak He thought he was special

Chapter 45 Heartbreak He thought he was special

Yan Yize didn't notice the bitterness beneath his forced smile. He couldn't help but walk towards him. With a long stride, the distance of several meters instantly vanished. His unique scent entered his nostrils, and his heart felt like a leaf floating in the air, suddenly disoriented.

In an instant, the joy of regaining what she had lost filled her heart, and the heat in her eyes burned like molten lava about to erupt. She stared at him for a long time, and Yan Yize frowned almost imperceptibly, then a trace of heartache welled up in her eyes, "Why have you lost weight?"

Her voice was soft, like a gentle breeze blowing from a distant place, softly reaching Shang Xu's ear. His heart skipped a beat, and Shang Xu couldn't help but look up. The face he had been longing for came into view, and at the same time, he saw the man half a step behind her. A sharp pain shot through his heart, and a shattering sound that only he could hear rang out.

She speaks the gentlest words, yet does the cruelest things.

A lump formed in his throat, and Shang Xu forced back tears, bitterly asking, "Your Highness, who is this?"

At this moment, Shang Xu was like a drowning person on the verge of death, still clinging to a sliver of unrealistic hope that perhaps a miracle would occur.

Reminded by him, Yan Yize then remembered that there was someone behind him. He glanced back casually, then fell silent. The matter was of great importance, and the fewer people who knew about it, the better.

After a moment's thought, she avoided answering and said, "From now on, he will live in your residence."

Upon hearing this, Shang Xu's already dim eyes darkened completely, and his fingertips dug into his palms. Sometimes silence and avoiding the question are the best answers, especially since what she said was already clear enough.

He nodded numbly, his eyes vacant, like a puppet stripped of its emotions, and said woodenly, "I understand."

It was already springtime, a season that should have been warm, but Shang Xu felt a biting cold at this moment, even more so than winter. He clenched the hem of his clothes tightly with his hands hanging down, and there were tears glistening in his eyes. Was the cold winter still not over?

After half a month apart, Yan Yize assumed that he felt the same way she did, since he had also been reluctant to let her go. However, as time passed, his long silence stung her.

The corners of Yan Yize's raised lips turned down, and he unconsciously frowned, his raised brows resembling overlapping mountains. A probing look swept across his jade-like profile, and he began to consider something.

His gentle nature suggests he must have been bullied while she was away.

Yan Yize's gaze lingered on him, a look of heartache in his eyes. "Were you bullied while I was away?"

"Don't be afraid, tell me, and I'll take you to get it back."

Shang Xu, lost in grief, was taken aback by her words and didn't understand their meaning. After a long while, he slowly shook his head, lowered his eyes, and said bitterly, "No one bullied me."

If anyone was really bullying him, it was this person in front of him. He had just given him hope when he brought back another man.

Although they were husband and wife, they had never consummated their marriage, and she had never made any promises to him. He was just deluding himself, and he had no right to question her.

Thinking of this, Shang Xu felt even more bitter, and his mouth felt like it was full of bitter herbs. Now that she had a talented man by her side, she probably didn't want to see him. He didn't want to see her being affectionate with another man either, so he made an excuse and left in a hurry.

"Your Highness, I suddenly feel a little unwell and would like to return home first."

Yan Yize sensed his aloofness, pursed her lips, opened her mouth as if to say something to keep him, but couldn't find the reason for his behavior, so she could only reluctantly hum in agreement.
