Chapter 49 I Will Never Betray My Love, I Think I Love You

Chapter 49 I Will Never Betray My Love, I Think I Love You

Not long after, Yan Yize appeared in Shangxu Courtyard. Ignoring her still unsteady breathing, she strode forward and impatiently knocked on the door.

Who's outside?

"It's me."

As in the previous two days, Shang Xu fell silent as soon as he heard her voice. Yan Yize stopped knocking, her pupils reflecting the tightly closed wooden door. Before, she would have been disappointed, but now she felt more excited.

Yan Yize stood there for a few seconds, and after confirming that he wouldn't open the door, she turned and walked towards the side window. Just as she expected, the window was ajar and could be pushed open with a little force.

Without further hesitation, she placed her fingertips on the window, and with a flick of her wrist, she effortlessly pushed open the half-closed window.

Upon hearing the sound, Shang Xu instinctively turned his head to look, only to see her easily leap over the wall with her hand on it. When he looked again, she was already standing in the room.

Shang Xu was clearly still reeling from this sudden turn of events; his beautiful eyes were wide open as he stared blankly at her.

Yan Yize dusted off the dust that had accidentally gotten on his sleeve, strolled over to him, waved his hand casually in front of his eyes, and said with a smile, "Aren't you coming to your senses?"

Shang Xu suddenly snapped back to his senses, took a step back in a panic, and when his eyes met hers, his mind went blank and his heart lost its composure. She wasn't like this a couple of days ago; he hadn't expected this to happen today.

He lowered his eyes, not daring to look at her at all. He was in a daze because of her appearance, but at the same time, there was an inexplicable expectation hidden in his heart.

His retreat widened the distance between them, causing Yan Yize to frown in displeasure. Without thinking, she stepped forward and shortened the distance between them again.

Seeing him right in front of her, her furrowed brows relaxed again.

Sensing her approach, Shang Xu subconsciously retreated, but Yan Yize gave him no chance, pressing him step by step until he had nowhere left to retreat.

In the corner, Yan Yize raised a hand and placed it behind his ear, holding him tightly in his arms. His gaze was focused and devout, and at this moment, all the unease that had arisen because of him seemed to have found its home.

In the past, Yan Yize didn't care who her husband was, but at this moment, she suddenly became extremely determined that her husband could only be Shang Xu and would only ever be Shang Xu.

Three months is neither a long nor a short time, but before she knew it, his image had been firmly imprinted in her heart.

"Shang Xu, why are you hiding?" Yan Yize was still very unhappy that he was avoiding her; she wasn't going to eat him.

When Shang Xu was suddenly called by name, he was startled and his heart started racing. He quickly stole a glance at her, his ears turning red from the hot breath she exhaled as she spoke.

Shang Xu didn't know why he was hiding. She was the one who broke in, and she should be the one who retreated. Why was he the one who showed fear first?

Yan Yize didn't expect him to answer her question, and besides, she had more important things to do there, not to compete with him in silence. So while he remained silent, she changed the subject and asked, "Why haven't you seen me these past few days?"

"Because of the people I brought back?"

Shang Xu froze at her words, his breath turning bitter. He swallowed hard, then resignedly closed his eyes. Was there no way to escape it after all?

Yan Yize forcefully lifted his chin and said in an unyielding tone, "Shang Xu, open your eyes."

“Look at me.”

Shang Xu pursed his lips, his face paling several shades. Yan Yi was someone he secretly liked. If he could, he really didn't want to face such a scene, but the truth was, he had no choice.

So, after a period of agony, he obediently opened his eyes and looked at her with a heart ashen with despair.

Yan Yize noticed his changes and felt a pang of heartache. She realized that she had unintentionally caused him such great harm, and she began to reflect on her own shortcomings.

She loosened her grip on his chin, letting her hand fall down until it finally stopped above his drooping hand. Without any hesitation, Yan Yize gently took her hand in his. "I'm sorry."

Shang Xu's hands suddenly felt warm, and before he could react, he was stunned by the sudden apology.

He was about to speak when a finger landed on his lips, stopping him just in time.

"Shang Xu, my relationship with Li Huai'an is completely innocent. Bringing him back is just a transaction."

"I had planned to send him away in a few days, but now I can't wait any longer. On the way back, I had Huixue see him off."

"There's one more thing." Yan Yize lowered his head, moving closer to him, his gaze intense. "Shang Xu, I think I'm attracted to you."

As soon as she finished speaking, Yan Yize turned her head away shyly, her red earlobes resembling ripe pomegranates on a branch. A few seconds later, she turned back awkwardly, staring at him with burning eyes, eager to know his thoughts, but without urging him.

As if afraid he would refuse, she hurriedly added, "You are already my husband, and you will be for life."

There was so much information in her words that it took Shang Xu a long time to process it. For some reason, he suddenly felt the urge to cry. It turned out that he had misunderstood, and that he wasn't just having unrequited love.

A tear uncontrollably rolled down his cheek.

Yan Yize's heart clenched, thinking he was unwilling. She felt a pang of disappointment, but she didn't forget to reach out and wipe away his tears. "Don't cry."

She paused for a few seconds, then continued to wipe away his tears with a bitter expression. "If you don't want to, just pretend you didn't hear what I just said."

Shang Xu blinked, and large tears rolled down his cheeks. But this time, they were tears of joy. Through his teary eyes, he grabbed her hand, afraid that she would change her mind, and said urgently, "I'm willing."

"I'm just so happy."

Yan Yize's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down. He secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thankfully it was just a false alarm. He reached out and pulled the person into his arms, making a firm vow, "In this life, I will never betray you."

Shang Xu obediently fell into her arms, listening to the vows whispered in his ear. He felt lightheaded, as if he were dreaming. The happiness came too suddenly for him to believe it was real.

If it's a dream, could it last a little longer? He was afraid that when he woke up, he would be all alone again.

He secretly looked up, staring intently at her beautiful profile. After a long while, he couldn't help but bite his tongue.

"Ouch~" It hurts, it's not a dream.

I also love you.

After realizing it wasn't a dream, Shang Xu couldn't help but reveal his deepest secrets, fearing that if he didn't speak now, he would never have the chance again.

Upon hearing this, Yan Yize's eyes lit up, and a bright smile spread across his face like autumn water. He couldn't help but curl his lips, "I will certainly not betray your love."
