Set off

Set off

Moonlit night.

Wen Zheng went out for some fresh air. She had been in seclusion for five or six days, and the spiritual energy in her dantian was becoming increasingly restless. She needed to go to the demon clan as soon as possible to resolve this issue.

The moonlight shone on the snow on the ground, so white it was dazzling. Wen Zheng chose a spot where the wind and snow were less intense and sat down to daydream.

The system popped out of her sleeve, and a black feather flashed before her eyes before landing on her shoulder.

"You've come out at this hour with a mission for me?" Wen Zheng grabbed a handful of snow and threw it away in annoyance.

[No missions at the moment.] The system perched on my shoulder, its tiny, beady eyes seemingly observing something. [Are you feeling lost, host? The system can offer you assistance once.]

Wen Zheng: "Aid? That sounds like you're doing charity."

The system seems to have become strange since returning from the demon race; it's been treating her better and better, and now it's even offering assistance.

[It's not charity; it's just the main system's programming. I will provide assistance when the host encounters trouble.] The system's reply was matter-of-fact and devoid of any emotion.

"Alright, tell me, should I go to the demon race?" Wen Zheng wanted to go, but couldn't make up her mind.

The system stood there blankly for a moment, then emitted an electronic voice before speaking: [The main system's advice is that the host must go.]

"Why?" Wen Zheng asked.

She wanted to know why the system insisted she go.

[The note from the demon race is related to the host; you'll find out when you get there.] After saying this, the system logged off again.

Wen Zheng's eyes flickered, and she unconsciously turned the wooden bracelet on her wrist. The bracelet had an old-fashioned style, the kind that older people would like.

When she first came into the world, she wanted to take it off. She tried various methods, including cutting with a knife and burning with fire, but she couldn't get it off, so she simply gave up.

Now when I look at this bracelet myself, it looks really strange.

Wen Zheng slowly turned the bracelet in the moonlight; the varying depths of its patterns seemed to be writing. She traced the patterns in the snow, piecing together seven characters:

Becoming stronger is dangerous; the Thousand Saints Palace.

Thousand Saints Palace? Wen Zheng frowned, puzzled.

Thousand Saints Palace is the number one sect among the immortal sects, with countless geniuses within its ranks. Many powerful talents have been recruited by Thousand Saints Palace, while the talents cultivated by other sects with all their might are not even worth their attention.

Would such a powerful sect be associated with her?

What do these seven words mean? Is it "becoming stronger is dangerous"? Or "becoming stronger, but dangerous is the Thousand Saints Palace"?

Wen Zheng found it difficult to make a judgment. She felt that both possibilities existed. From the very first step of her cultivation, various problems had arisen one after another. First, her meridians were damaged, and now her dantian was sealed. It seemed that every time was unlucky and dangerous.

But she still couldn't understand what her relationship with Qian Sheng Palace was.

Wen Zheng sighed in frustration. A thick layer of snow covered her shoulders. She waved it off and got up to go back.

As night deepened, she tossed and turned in bed, then suddenly sat up, thinking that perhaps she could try using her dream-entering technique.

Without hesitation, Wen Zheng immediately entered a dream about the bracelet. Her consciousness entered the dream, and her body collapsed limply onto the bed, without even being covered by a quilt.

In her dream, Wen Zheng saw herself at fourteen or fifteen years old writing notes. There were already many notes piled up on the table, but she was still writing.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. She quickly put the note away and took out the cultivation manual she was practicing to read.

"Miss, Qinghe has come in." The maid pushed open the door and entered, carrying a tray with a jade bowl on it, containing a small amount of red liquid.

Wen Zheng leaned closer to take a look and thought it looked a lot like blood.

In her dream, she immediately pushed the bowl away upon seeing it, her eyebrows furrowing as she said, "I don't want to drink it, take it away."

Her refusal was useless. Qinghe forcibly picked up the bowl and poured the contents down her throat, then went out and locked the door.

Wen Zheng watched as she kept gagging in her dream, trying to vomit up what she had drunk, but to no avail. She slammed her hand on the ground in frustration: "You bastard, you're infuriating! How dare you be so disrespectful to Long Aotian! Just wait for my revenge!"

Her shout startled Wen Zheng awake from her dream, and she stared blankly at the bracelet on her hand.

She thought she had just seen the original owner's memories, but the last sentence, "Long Aotian," made her realize that the person in her dream was the person she was now.

She speaks and acts exactly like she does now, but didn't she just transmigrate here? What's wrong with her?

Wen Zheng sat quietly on the bed all night and finally decided that she would go to the demon clan.

To avoid Mu Qing, she had the system send a message to Xiao Ze, agreeing to depart in three days.

At this moment, Xiao Ze had already met the sect leader and was being led to see Hua Rong, who was doing hard labor.

In the spirit field, Hua Rong carried buckets of water, holding the load with one hand and watering the herbs beside him with the other, while someone watched him from a distance.

Xiao Ze glanced at him briefly. He had no external injuries and was conscious. Apart from not being in a good mental state, there was nothing else wrong.

He breathed a sigh of relief. If something had happened to Hua Rong, he wouldn't have been able to explain it when he got back.

"Don't worry, the Immortal Pursuit Sect isn't like the Beast Taming Sect, which beats and scolds demons. Right now, they're just making him work every day to pay off his debts," the disciple leading the way said.

Xiao Ze glanced at him again, seeing Hua Rong working so obediently for the first time, and asked, "I'm relieved to see that he's alright, but how did you get him to listen to you?"

Hua Rong doesn't even give face to the clan elders.

"This..." The disciple leading the way stammered, unable to speak for a long time.

Hua Rong in the spirit field suddenly erupted, throwing off the load on his shoulder and transforming into a leopard, pouncing on the person guarding him. Unfortunately, before he could reach the person, his fur was shaved off with a knife.

Golden fur danced and leaped in the air before finally landing in front of the fluffy flower.

Seeing another patch of fur missing from its body, Flowery screamed, "Aaaaaah! You bastard, I'm going bald!!"

The sound was piercing and extremely penetrating. After hearing it, Xiao Ze silently looked at the disciple who had led the way, but the latter looked away, not daring to look at him.

"Never mind," Xiao Ze sighed. "Let's just consider it punishment for his trouble-making at the Immortal Pursuit Sect."

Having confirmed that Hua Rong was alive and well, Xiao Ze prepared to leave. He had also considered taking Wen Zheng to the demon realm to help her remove the seal on her dantian, but after being warned by Mu Qing, he gave up on that idea.

Back at his residence, Xiao Ze began packing his things. He didn't have much, so he finished quickly. As he got up to leave, a talisman fell from his waist. He picked it up casually; it was the Five Thunder Rain Summoning Talisman that Wen Zheng had sold him.

"What a pity." Xiao Ze put away the talisman and pushed open the door to leave. A crow flew in through the window and threw a piece of paper at him. He picked it up and looked at it. It was written by Wen Zheng, saying that she would leave with him tonight.

Xiao Ze thought back to the warning look Mu Qing had given him, and felt a chill run down his spine. If he really did abduct Wen Zheng, Mu Qing would most likely hunt him down.

"Go back and tell your master that I can't help with this," Xiao Ze said to the crow.

The system that turned him into a crow couldn't speak; it could only signal him with gestures that he had to leave tonight.

"It's not about setting off, it's about someone not letting me help." Xiao Ze laughed after explaining, how could a crow with no intelligence understand what he meant?

After hearing his words, the system flicked its wings across its neck, and a murderous intent flashed in its small black eyes.

Xiao Ze's heart skipped a beat, and he asked, "She wouldn't have killed Immortal Venerable Mu, would she?"

Considering the difference in their cultivation levels, Xiao Ze felt relieved and said to himself, "It shouldn't be a problem; Wen Zheng can't beat him."

Just as he was about to say a few more words to the crow, he discovered that it had already flown away.

On the snow-capped peak.

Wen Zheng asked in surprise, "You want me to deal with Mu Qing?!"

Xiao Ze has gone mad; otherwise, how could he have come up with such a plan?

[That's right, he said Mu Qing wouldn't let the host go out and suggested you kill Mu Qing.] The system lied through its teeth without any guilt.

Wen Zheng paced back and forth, pondering the possibility of this. The system watched from the side, slowly dozing off. Once it was completely asleep, Wen Zheng stopped pacing.

"No, this is simply impossible."

Mu Qing is at the Nascent Soul stage, but her cultivation level is still questionable. How can a Golden Core cultivator like her possibly defeat her? Even though she has been in seclusion recently and her cultivation is rising, she is still some distance from the Nascent Soul stage, so she simply cannot defeat her.

But she has to go to the demon clan to break the seal on her dantian. If only she could find a way to get Mu Qing away.

Wen Zheng pondered for a moment, and then an idea came to her mind. She hurriedly went down the mountain and secretly bought some sleeping powder, which she put into the tea. When Mu Qing returned, he saw Wen Zheng smiling and inviting him to have tea.

Looking at the bright smile on the face of the person in front of her, Mu Qing suddenly took a step back and asked warily, "Are you trying to harm me?"

It's no wonder he's suspicious. Wen Zheng has never smiled like that before. She's always been reserved, and her emotions have never been so clearly expressed on her face. Mu Qing can't help but overthink it.

"No, that's not true. I just wanted to invite you over for a chat, some tea, to clear up any misunderstandings between us." Wen Zheng extended a sincere invitation, and after hesitating for a moment, Mu Qing decided to go.

He was highly skilled and not worried about Wen Zheng plotting against him, but he wanted to know what Wen Zheng was up to.

He stepped into the room, where various tea snacks were already laid out on the table, along with flowers that looked like they had been picked from the roadside.

Faced with such a grand occasion, Mu Qing hesitated but still chose to stay. However, she paused for a moment when she sat down, perhaps worried that there might be something wrong with the chair.

Seeing him sit down, Wen Zheng poured him some tea and handed it to him, saying, "Senior brother, have some tea."

The moment Mu Qing heard the term "senior brother," he knew Wen Zheng was up to something. He took the tea that was offered to him, glanced at Wen Zheng, and seemed to have a lot on his mind.

He took a sip of the tea, but the taste seemed off, so he set it aside.

Seeing that he had only taken a sip, Wen Zheng became a little anxious and picked up a mung bean cake from the table and handed it to him, saying, "Senior brother, try the mung bean cake I bought."

It's so dry and hard to swallow; I bet he'll drink water after he finishes eating.

Mu Qing took it again and ate it in small bites, without touching the tea again.

The two fed each other until all the tea and snacks on the table were gone. Finally, Wen Zheng couldn't take it anymore and said, "Stop acting. I'll tell you the truth. I'm going to the demon race."

From the moment Mu Qing finished eating the mung bean cake but didn't drink any water, Wen Zheng guessed that the other party had seen through her tricks. It was because she was unwilling to give up and had tested her many times.

"The reason." Mu Qing took out a handkerchief to wipe the crumbs from the corner of her mouth and looked at Wen Zheng seriously: "If the reason is reasonable, I agree."

Wen Zheng was skeptical, but she still said it, "My dantian is sealed, and recently my spiritual energy has been surging during my seclusion. I need to go to the demon race to resolve this." After saying that, she looked at Mu Qing, waiting for his rebuttal.

"Okay." Mu Qing's simple answer surprised Wen Zheng for a moment. He continued, "But I will go with you."

"You're going to the demon realm too?" Wen Zheng suspected that Mu Qing wanted to spy on her, otherwise why would she go to the demon realm for no reason?

“It’s not what you think.” Seeing through Wen Zheng’s thoughts at a glance, Mu Qing explained, “Last time I found a bronze mirror at the Ghost King’s place, so I went to the Changsheng Gate to take a look.”

The master of the Changsheng Sect possessed a mirror as his magical artifact. He went to inquire about the mirror's origin and find the person who killed his master.

After thinking for a moment, Wen Zheng agreed, "We'll meet at the foot of Aoxue Peak tonight. Remember to come."

Mu Qing nodded and got up to leave. After he left, Wen Zheng began packing her luggage, taking all the talismans she had drawn earlier, as well as her research notes.

When she finished packing and went out, she saw the sleeping system, so she picked it up and put it in her arms to take with her.

At the foot of Mount Aoxue, Xiao Ze stood for a long time but Wen Zheng still hadn't arrived. Just as he was about to give up, a voice called out to him.

"Wait a minute, I'm here." Wen Zheng appeared after changing into an inconspicuous outfit.

Seeing that she had appeared safely, Xiao Ze breathed a sigh of relief. "Let's go."

He was afraid that Mu Qing would catch up and kill him, so he decided to run away as soon as possible.

Wen Zheng noticed his fear and said guiltily, "Um, actually, there's someone else who wants to come along."

Xiao Ze cast a questioning glance at her, and Wen Zheng looked away, not daring to look at him.

She'd probably get beaten up if she said Mu Qing's name.

"Who did you bring?" Xiao Ze had the answer in his mind, but he wasn't sure.

“This, this…” Wen Zheng hesitated for a moment, just about to speak, when another voice came.

"Senior sister, let's go." A boy who looked about fifteen or sixteen years old appeared, carrying a sword on his back, with a blank expression.

"This is..." Xiao Ze paused before saying, "Your junior brother?"

Wen Zheng was startled by Mu Qing's appearance and nodded blankly in agreement.

"Alright, let's go." Xiao Ze took out the mechanical bird and flew towards the direction of the demon race with the three of them.

While Xiao Ze was controlling the mechanical bird, Wen Zheng looked down and met Mu Qing's gaze, gritting her teeth as she asked, "Why are you looking like this?"

"Don't you like it, Senior Sister?" When Mu Qing spoke of Senior Sister in a boyish tone, Wen Zheng looked away in disgust.

"You... never mind." Wen Zheng really didn't know what to say, so she simply shut her mouth.

Seeing that she didn't want to talk, Mu Qing sat quietly beside her.

While controlling the mechanical bird's flight, Xiao Ze glanced back and saw his senior and junior siblings sleeping side by side, looking very close. He suddenly felt a bit unlucky.
