Chapter 18 The Thief Cries "Stop Thief!" (1)

Ruan Geng was utterly speechless. What difference did it make, flipping it over and over?

Hua Ansu wasn't consulting him at all. "Minister, what do you think?"

Her eyes remained calm and composed; if Minister Dorenda hadn't believed he had no regrets, he probably would have collapsed long ago.

“I think Ansu, your method is very good. Once the person who committed the ‘theft’ is found, we will deal with them according to this method.”

He looked at the others, "What do you all think?"

Ruan Geng and Zeng Lianggu were heartbroken and exclaimed, "Dorenda, you've been so foolish!"

Minister Torrenda pressed on, "Do you two both think this punishment is too lenient?"

"Of course, what's the difference between this and not punishing at all?"

Minister Dorenda smiled and made the final decision, "Anyway, it's settled."

He looked at Ba Mengmeng, "Mengmeng, you said you saw An Su sneaking out of the lab during the two days she was there?"

Ba Mengmeng nodded, "Yes, she was carrying a bundle at the time, which must have contained a dagger!"

Minister Torrenda then looked at Hua Ansu, "What do you say?"

Hua Ansu scoffed, "I've been out once, what, can't I even get some fresh air?"

Suddenly I feel really bored. Such wonderful folk customs and traditions, and then a few troublemakers show up, and they're the really stupid kind. It's pointless.

Looking down at Ba Mengmeng, who was half a head shorter than her, she said, "I bet your next move is to have someone check my bedroom, right?"

Ba Mengmeng huffed, "Shouldn't we look in your bedroom?"

"That's right, but I also guessed that I would definitely find it, right?"

Ba Mengmeng was overjoyed, "You admit you stole it!"

Hua Ansu rolled her eyes at her. "When did I admit that? I meant someone deliberately put it in my room!"

Upon hearing this, Ba Mengmeng felt a moment of guilt. She quickly realized what she was doing and tried to put on a disgusted expression. "You're so annoying! You're still trying to argue!"

"You did something wrong but didn't dare to admit it. It's all thanks to A-Gu that you went to so much trouble to save me!"

Ugh, what a noisy person.

Hua Ansu twitched her ears, she'd had enough of her act. "Grandpa Minister, someone still hasn't repented and is determined to frame me. Can't we just go through the important procedures?"

Minister Dorenda shuddered and glared at Hua Ansu. This girl was too direct!

"That's enough, that's enough. She was wronged today anyway," he said to Ba Mengmeng.

"Mengmeng, you came to me after noon today and asked if the dagger was finished. I said it was still a work in progress, and you asked me to take you to see it. Then the dagger was no longer in the lab, right?"

"Then you left disappointed. Not long after, Old Man Ruan and Old Man Zeng brought you, crying, to me for an explanation, right?"

Ba Mengmeng nodded, "That's right, Grandpa Minister, but it's because Grandpa Ruan and Great-Grandpa love me so much..."

Minister Dorenda gestured for him to finish speaking, "Let me recall how you determined that Ansu was the so-called 'thief'."

"Just because she went in and out of the lab? Or is it because she's not from our tribe that you're arbitrarily suspecting her?"

Ba Mengmeng's eyes immediately welled up with tears. "Grandpa Minister, are you saying that I... deliberately framed Hua Ansu?"

Minister Dorenda waved his hand and said, "Let me tell you, Ansu would never take that dagger, because something like that is simply not worth her attention!"

"Besides, she came to my place yesterday after leaving the lab to pick something up, but I personally saw someone enter An Su's bedroom to steal that dagger. So, who should be blamed for this so-called 'theft'? Hmm?"
