Chapter 37 Rabbit
Qi Mushan was so angry at Li Lianhua's provocative manner that he was about to explode when Granny Cen spoke up again: "How old are you? Why are you arguing with a child?" Qi Mushan could only swallow back the words he was about to say, thinking angrily that he would teach him a lesson sooner or later.
Seeing this, Li Lianhua laughed even harder, stuffing meat into her mouth as she laughed, her cheeks puffed out like a frog's.
Qing'er was charmed by his cuteness and wanted to pinch his cheeks.
"Come on, Qing'er, don't mind them." Granny Cen placed a piece of stewed meat, tender and soft, into her bowl. "Eat more, there are plenty of wild animals on this mountain, and the meat is plentiful." Qing'er nodded obediently and whispered, "Thank you, Aunt Cen."
Li Lianhua, her mouth greasy, mumbled, "Master's wife, your cooking is getting better and better. It tastes even better than what I eat outside." Qi Mushan snorted, "All you do is talk." Li Lianhua wasn't annoyed and smiled, saying, "I'm just telling the truth."
After the meal, Granny Cen said to Li Lianhua, "Xiangyi, take Qing'er for a walk to help her digest her food."
"Understood, Master's wife," Li Lianhua said, then looked at Qing'er. "Miss Qing'er, I'll show you around Yunyin Mountain." Qing'er nodded.
The two walked together, initially feeling a little awkward and unsure of what to say.
After a while, Qing'er looked around at the scenery and said, "The scenery here is quite nice."
Li Lianhua nodded: "When I was a child, I loved to run around Yunyin Mountain. There was a peach grove in front of us, and the peach blossoms were so beautiful in spring. There was also a small pond over there. In the summer, I would always go there to catch fish. Once, a big fish even bit my hand."
Qing'er was captivated by his vivid description, and the corners of her mouth unconsciously turned up. As they walked, a wild rabbit suddenly darted out of the grass, hopping and skipping as if deliberately trying to attract their attention. Li Lianhua's eyes lit up, and he said to Qing'er, "Qing'er, I'll go catch it." With that, he chased after it and caught the rabbit in no time.
He walked towards Qing'er carrying the rabbit. Just then, Li Lianhua slipped and was about to fall forward. Qing'er reacted quickly and grabbed him. Their eyes met, and for a moment, everything around them seemed to fall silent.
After a short while, Qing'er came to her senses, straightened him up, quickly let go of his hand, and calmly said, "We've been out for so long, let's go back first."
Li Lianhua, carrying the rabbit in one hand, rubbed her nose with the other. "Ahem, let's go back then."
"Master's wife, let's have braised rabbit tomorrow!" Li Lianhua exclaimed excitedly to Granny Cen as soon as she returned, as if she could already imagine the fragrant braised rabbit stewing in the pot, her mouth watering.
"Oh, you even caught a rabbit." Qi Mushan came out from the inner room upon hearing the voice and said, looking at the rabbit that Li Lianhua was carrying.
Upon hearing Li Lianhua's words, Granny Cen smiled and replied, "Alright, I'll make braised rabbit for you tomorrow." Her voice was gentle and kind, warming everyone's hearts.
Looking at Li Lianhua like this, Qing'er recalled the first time she met him in the East Sea. At that time, Li Lianhua seemed completely broken.
Now that Li Lianhua has her master and mistress by her side, she is full of vitality and much more lively.
Granny Cen looked up at the sky and saw that the sun was already setting in the west, and the sky was gradually being tinged with a faint orange hue. She turned her head, looked at Xiang Yi and Qing'er, and said with a smile, "Xiang Yi, it's getting late. You should take Qing'er to the room you and Shan Gudao stayed in before to rest, and you can go to your master's room to sleep."
Li Lianhua led Qing'er into the room. She looked around; there were two beds. The wall in front of one of the beds was covered with densely packed martial arts moves. Qing'er pointed to that bed and said, "This must be Shan Gudao's bed."
Li Lianhua asked curiously, "How did you know?"
Qing'er pointed to the wall again, "You're so smart, you can definitely learn anything quickly, but these densely packed martial arts moves are definitely something only a stupid person would need to look at all the time to remember."
Li Lianhua was a little embarrassed by the praise, his cheeks flushing slightly, but his crescent-shaped eyes revealed undisguised joy. No one dislikes being praised, and Li Lianhua was no exception.
“After Master and Mistress separated, Shan Gudao moved away from here and lived with Mistress, while I lived with Master,” Li Lianhua sighed softly.
