Chapter 14: Meet Again

A look of determination appeared on Claudia's face. She closed her eyes and walked forward.

"Is there any way to break the Lich King's control over him?" She called out to the Silver Hand deep in her heart.

"There is no way for you." The Silver Hand responded without asking why the girl lost her composure just now.

"The purest power of order is the natural enemy of this mind-bending chaos. But—" the Silver Hand's voice continued to echo in her mind. "Your power is far too weak compared to that Lich King. If I'm not mistaken, that Lich King has already transcended the realm of mortals. Even if he's weaker than the former Titan Guardian, he's not much weaker."

"I'm sorry, Tyr, I can't just leave him alone. I might have to be willful for once." Claudia said to the Silver Hand.

"It's okay. We were originally partners fighting side by side. No matter what decision you make, I will support you." The voice of the Silver Hand was still gentle.

"Thank you." The girl expressed her gratitude sincerely.

During the time that Claudia and the Silver Hand were talking, the battle between Carlos and James in the distance had become increasingly intense. The former best friends now regarded each other as sworn enemies, aiming every sword at the opponent's vital points and fighting bravely.

The armor on Carlos' left waist had been shattered. In a close combat just now, in order to block the steel sword in James's hand, he was taken advantage of by the rune weapon beside him. Fortunately, the rune weapon was not held in a human hand after all, and its power was limited, otherwise the blow just now would be enough to severely damage his internal organs. At this time, there was a cut on his waist. Fortunately, after he opened the God's descent to the earth, his skin was as hard as a rock, and the rune weapon could not penetrate. The white ancestral power gathered around the wound, and a faint black smoke was gradually squeezed out.

James's situation was even worse. The flaming sword was the nemesis of the power he used. Under the flames, his ice power was completely offset, and various plagues would be weakened by half. He had used diseases many times, but the opponent was not affected at all. The previous attack was an opportunity he had finally fought for, but he did not expect that the opponent would rather choose to take his rune weapon head-on than disrupt the rhythm of the battle and give him a chance to breathe.

He was burned all over, even a strand of his gray hair was singed black. He stopped using evil black magic, stopped using plague, and even stopped using his most proficient ice power. He focused on wielding the long sword in his hand and used his martial arts wholeheartedly.

It feels so good, so good. It feels so good to be able to fight and kill to your heart's content without worrying about your own life or death or anything else.

Even though he was at a disadvantage, he was cheering and ecstatic deep down in his heart.

This is the battle I have always been looking forward to, and this is the path I have always been pursuing.

The sword flashed, and fighting spirit burned. In his heart, the whole world now only had the sword in his hand, and nothing else.

As if sensing the master's thoughts, the sword in his hand glowed again, and a new breath appeared. It was not the breath of death, withering and frost, nor was it the ancestral power of Carlos, but another kind of incomparably pure thing, which was now attached to his sword.

In the fierce battle, he had unknowingly taken a small step forward, a step he had never taken in his life, and entered the realm that countless people dreamed of. In a place he could not see, a chain that the Lich King had originally used to seal his memory revealed countless cracks.

The wind, which had gradually stopped, started blowing again and gathered around him. In his eyes, the world had gradually become different from before.

The first person to sense all this was his opponent, Carlos. The black figure, who had been suppressed and beaten by him, was now gaining momentum.

A sword came at him, and although the speed of the sword was not particularly fast, he could not block the opponent's sword even if he tried his best.

After just a few sword strikes, he had switched from offense to defense, struggling to hold on. What frightened him even more was that the effect of a god descending from heaven on him was about to disappear.
