When the Cataclysm occurred, Varian was attending a wedding in Darnassus, while Claudia was drinking tea with Jaina in Karazhan.
The wedding was the wedding of Tyrande and Malfurion. After more than ten thousand years of long love and waiting, the two of them finally got married.
Many leaders of the Alliance and the Horde will attend the wedding to offer congratulations. Even the Red Dragon Queen and the Green Dragon Queen will be present in person because of Malfurion's achievements in the nightmare. They present Teldrassil with the Dragon King's blessing as a gift.
But neither Claudia nor Gianna attended this grand event.
Claudia didn't need to do that. Although some people had begun to realize the possibility that she was still alive, she didn't want to restore her identity yet, so she naturally wouldn't go to Darnassus to cause trouble.
As for Jaina, there was another reason.
Jaina had never been a social person, preferring the solitude of her books and scrolls to the clamor of parties and dances.
Of course, as an important diplomat and Queen of Theramore, she attended many social gatherings for work reasons, but if possible, she always liked to return to her nest as soon as possible. She longed for the relatively isolated and slow-paced life.
In fact, this is also the important reason why Jaina does not want to take back the role of Queen of Theramore. Since Archmage Tevosh can use her policies to manage Theramore well, why should she stand in the front?
Being a quiet mage apprentice in Karazhan and swimming in the ocean of arcane magic and knowledge has been Jaina's dream since she was a child.
During this period, especially in the months during and after the Northern Expedition, Jaina became even more disgusted with crowded places.
People have not forgotten her love affair with Arthas. No matter where Jaina appears, she always receives a lot of sympathetic and pitiful looks, which is a terrible experience for her.
So this time, Jaina simply asked Rhonin to bring the gift for her, and then she used the excuse that she was mentally traumatized by the Nightmare War and needed to rest, and continued to stay in Karazhan.
And after the Nightmare War, Jaina was indeed seriously injured.
Countless times in her dreams, she returned to Stratholme and had one nightmare after another.
The first time, Jaina tried to save the world.
For this reason, Jaina participated in the massacre and followed Arthas to Northrend. Then she did stop Arthas from drawing his sword, but the price was that she drew Frostmourne and became the Lich King.
The following dream was a complete nightmare. She destroyed everything she cherished with a grin. In the dream, Claudia and her sister were turned into maids of death.
The second time, Jaina changed her strategy.
After Stratholme, she immediately found an opportunity to sneak attack and knock Arthas unconscious, and took him back to Lordaeron. She did her best to persuade King Terenas and Master Antonidas to convene an Alliance meeting to carefully investigate the affairs of Northrend.
Then she waited for the Muradin version of the Lich King...
Jaina struggled in nightmares again and again, and once she even came close to success, but the Lich King did not get any suitable container.
However, the subsequent results were even more tragic. Without Arthas, the Lich King did not dare to rebel against the Burning Legion. Without the Lich King's actions to restrain him, the Burning Legion eventually destroyed the entire world...
Hearing this, Claudia squeezed Gianna's hand with sympathy and comforted her, "I'm sorry, that must be very painful."
Jaina smiled nonchalantly, relief in her smile, "It's okay, it's all over, and these nightmares have helped me."
"Over the years, I've always felt guilty, thinking I was the sinner of Azeroth and that I was the cause of the subsequent disasters. Now, after experiencing these nightmares, I've finally figured it out. I don't need to take all the blame on myself. I will never regret my decision again."
"Yes, that's right, you were right in the beginning." Claudia also nodded with a smile.
Before she met Jaina, she thought that the decision Jaina made in Stratholme was a bit heartless, but after the two had an in-depth communication, she realized that the decision Jaina made was understandable and there was nothing to blame.
It is true that Jaina had dated Arthas, but by the time they were in Stratholme, they had broken up four years ago.
What's even more ridiculous is that before they broke up, Arthas still kept saying that he loved Jaina, but that night he took Jaina's virginity, and after having sex with Jaina the second time, he turned his back on her and broke up with her.
Considering this incident, Gianna's subsequent behavior was actually very generous. At least Claudia didn't think that if she had encountered such a scumbag again, she would be able to talk to him calmly and nicely when they met again.
"The same goes for you, Claudia. You don't have to take everything on yourself." Jaina said meaningfully.
"Thank you, I know what you mean." Claudia nodded with a smile, then raised her cup and took a sip of the fragrant black tea.
"That's good."
Jaina drew a purple rune in mid-air, and an arcane servant brought over a box. Inside the box was a helmet, the Helm of Domination. "I thought this helmet would be useful to you, so I asked for it for you."
Claudia didn't refuse the gift. After examining the helmet for a moment, she looked at Jaina curiously. "You really can't hide anything from you. How did you know I needed the Law of Death?"
