Chapter 5 (2)

Chapter 5 (2)

Of course Yu Jia thought that he was here to play a supporting role.

She just didn't expect that she would have to be such a big supporting role - there were more than a dozen people sitting around the big round table, and except for Yu Meng, she, Yu Jia, was the only woman.

The intention was obvious. If Yu Meng went to the meeting alone, it would be too monotonous. Besides, it was always a problem for a woman to have no best friends. But it was a big taboo for a best friend to steal her limelight.

Shuang is not interested in drinking with old men.

As for Rui, she is young after all and is a threat. If she is invited to sit over there, even if she is as quiet as a chrysanthemum, she will distract Yu Meng's brilliance.

So it was only right to invite Yu Jialai.

The eldest sister, married, highly respected. She can hold the fort. She's not a threat.

Yu Jia saw through Yu Meng's situation but didn't say anything. She understood. Love is like a battlefield, and this gathering, amidst laughter and joy, was also filled with swords and spears. She sincerely wished Meng'er success and that her dreams would come true.

As soon as she stepped in, all eyes were focused on her. Although Yu Jia had practiced a lot, she felt outnumbered and got goose bumps all over her body.

Yu Meng came over swayingly. She looked particularly beautiful today, with her hair loose and straight, and light makeup on. Under the light, she looked a bit delicate and girlish. Yu Jia took Yu Meng's hand.

Yu Meng said to everyone, "Let me introduce you to my sister, Sister Jia, the leader's wife..." Yu Jia quickly stopped her and didn't let her continue.

Liangcai was there. He had seen her at the Xin family's concert. Seeing Yu Jia looking over, Zu Liangcai nodded. Yu Jia smiled back.

Then Yu Meng introduced everyone present. There were all kinds of men. Eighty percent of them were interested in Yu Meng.

Yu Meng's birthday party also put some pressure on Liangcai.

Meat tastes better when you rush to eat it.

Counting them one by one—this CEO, that director, this secretary-general, that director—as well as painters, calligraphers, travelers, and so on—Yu Jia could hardly tell who was who. They were all excellent. They were all important figures. Some of them didn't have wives, while others still had wives. Yu Meng didn't take those men with wives seriously. She didn't want to be stigmatized, accused of leaving their wives because of her. Weng Yang, the assistant director of a certain group, was among them.

He was the last one to be introduced. His sister, Weng Yue, was on a business trip to Japan—actually, for plastic surgery. He came to celebrate Yu Meng's birthday on her behalf. He was Meng's die-hard fan, and his eyes were filled with infatuation.

Yu Jia felt that the look was a bit disgusting, like a greedy child licking ice cream with his tongue.

I only drink Moutai. It was brought to me by a "boss." He'd been Yu Meng's suitor for a long time, but never succeeded. But he persisted, a commendable spirit. He had some money, but Yu Meng felt he wasn't noble or respectable enough, and would always be just a small boss. So, with some subtlety, they'd remained friends for all these years.

We started drinking. At first, we were a bit reserved. After a few drinks, we gradually relaxed, soon entering a state of "Where will I go when I wake up from my drunken stupor tonight, by the willows, under the morning breeze and the waning moon." Coincidentally, this private room was called "Morning Breeze and the Waning Moon."

Yu Jia felt like a protector, or rather, like an aunt beside the imperial concubine, accompanying her on tours - Imperial Concubine Meng was determined to get "drunk" tonight.

We'd been eating for over an hour, and it was almost nine o'clock. The painter suggested that since it was Mengmeng's birthday, everyone should sing a line of the birthday song to cheer her up. No excuses allowed! Even if you were tone-deaf, you had to sing!

Yu Meng immediately put his hands together and clapped his hands.

The men were pushed to the front and had to sing, but choosing songs that were appropriate and interesting was a bit of a challenge.

The painter was the first to sing: "Woman flower... swaying in the mortal world... Woman flower... gently swaying in the wind..."

Someone responded, "Our Mengmeng is more beautiful than flowers."

Everyone laughed. They drank a glass. The second person, a "Dong," quickly searched for a song on his phone and sang in a distorted voice: "The one who loves me is devoted to me without regret... But I am willing to suffer a lifetime of sorrow for the one I love..."

The whole table burst into laughter.

Yu Meng joked, "I understand." and drank another glass.

The third one was a "Secretary General." He had a good voice and started singing in Cantonese, "I like you... those eyes are so charming... your laughter is even more charming... I wish I could... caress your... that lovely face again..."

A singer's performance. Everyone applauds. Let's have a drink.

Next one's turn.

Next one.

Another one.

There is one more.

Finally it was Zu Liangcai's turn.

Honestly, seeing this room full of men, he did feel a sense of crisis, but after all, he had experienced the world for many years, and he was well-mannered and strategic. He demanded magnanimity. Did he have a contract with Yu Meng? No. Did he make a promise? No. After so many years of cultivation, he certainly understood Yu Meng's intention in inviting so many people.

The more she tried to provoke him, the more he tried to calm down. Zu Liangcai pondered for a moment and cleared his throat slightly.

Everyone at the table looked at him.

Liangcai spoke in a low voice, but his singing was high-pitched, with an inexplicable magnetism. He stared at Yu Meng and sang, "A woman like you... makes me happy, makes me sad... makes me willing to give everything I have for you..."

In an instant, Yu Meng's whole body felt like it was electrified.

Yu Jia grabbed her arm and could even feel a slight tremor.

He understands me. Yu Mengxiang. After listening to a lot of songs, this one resonates most with her.

Isn't that exactly what she wants to be? A woman who brings both joy and sorrow. Joy because she's so outstanding, so charming; sorrow because she could be lost at any moment. She wants to make men hold their hearts in their hands. Truly beautiful things, including people, must elicit a touch of melancholy.

The door to the private room opened. A small cart slowly rolled in. On it sat a cake, a candle in the center, its flames dancing. Two waiters, a man and a woman, arrived. The man carried the cake, the woman held a bouquet of flowers.

Yu Jia quickly stood up and pointed in a direction, indicating that the waiter, Yu Meng, was the "birthday star."

The men began to sing Happy Birthday. Several pulled out their phones, some taking photos, others recording videos. As "Happy Birthday to You" played, Yu Meng stood up, like a queen, like a princess. She clasped her hands together, a smile on her face, and looked around, finally lowering her head slightly as she turned toward the cake.

She took the flowers and handed them to Yu Jia, asking her to hold them.

Facing the candlelight, she made a wish. The men all stood up and formed a circle. Yu Meng brushed her hair, bent down, blew out the candles, and repeatedly said thank you.

Yu Jia reminded him, "There are still flowers to be presented." Weng Yang quickly stepped over three stools, took the flowers from Yu Jia's hand, and handed them to Yu Meng. He had ordered these flowers, and he couldn't let anyone else steal their beauty.

The painter cheered, "Look, such a handsome guy is giving you flowers."

Yu Meng smiled beautifully and said thank you. She looked down at the flowers and praised them for being beautiful.

Someone else started to make a noise, "Hold one, hold one."

A certain director stepped forward. It was he who invited the game, so he should be the first to hug. Yu Meng was also generous and stepped forward to give him a hug.

Weng Yang used his mobile phone to record the video. He asked, "Do you have anything to say?"

Yu Meng still only said "thank you" with a coquettish look on her face.

But a certain director said: "There is a lot to say, may all your wishes come true!"

Liangcai was still waiting, eager for a hug. But after a certain Dong passed by, the hugs came to an abrupt end. Yu Meng had planned this. She was going to employ a "hunger marketing" strategy with Liangcai.

Then there was another round of drinking.

The party finally broke up at almost eleven. Half the dishes were left on the table, especially the main course, which had barely been touched. Everyone was so busy drinking that the food was neglected. Yu Jia felt it would be a shame to throw it away, so she asked the waiter for a takeaway box and carefully selected the dishes.

Most men have drivers, and those who don’t have drivers also call a taxi, so they have no problem getting home safely.

Yu Meng came over and took Yu Jia's arm, saying coquettishly, "Sister Jia, thank you."

Yu Jia was busy picking out the food and said perfunctorily, "Okay, my birthday is over. Be happy and safe."

Yu Meng said: "I am very happy, I am very peaceful."

Weng Yang lived close to Yu Jia's home, so Yu Meng asked him to take Sister Jia home.

Yu Jia quickly declined. The dinner was over, and she didn't want to continue entertaining these people. She had already checked the route before coming, and she would take the night bus back home, which would save her trouble and make her feel comfortable. However, she told Yu Meng that she had called a special car.

Yu Meng deliberately made a fuss, "Sister, is it safe? It's the middle of the night, don't rob me of my money or my body."

Yu Jia kept saying it was safe and told her not to worry.

The wine was gone, and Yu Meng sat alone at the large round table, facing the shattered cake. When the waiter came in, she sent him away, saying she needed some quiet time to rest. The waiter asked if she wanted tea. Yu Meng said no. It was only then that Yu Meng suddenly fell into melancholy.

Another year older. A crack in the floor-length curtains revealed the vibrant night outside. Somehow, the song Liangcai had sung earlier still rang in her mind, "A woman like you, who brings me joy and sorrow..."

I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

The phone rang. It was a video from Haoyu. A blessing. Then came Zhengyu's. The two brothers should get along better and work together to wish Mom a happy birthday. Yu Meng was relieved.

After a while, she finally stood up, a little unsteady. She held onto the back of the chair and waited a moment before heading to the private restroom in the box to touch up her makeup. Not for others, but for herself, beauty must be complete.

She pushed the door open. There was a person standing inside. Yu Meng was so frightened that she took a step back, stumbling. But the person pulled her in. Yu Meng felt a force stronger than a tornado suck her in. Suddenly, her body rose up, and she was carried to sit on the sink.

A closer look revealed that it was Liangcai. He had been hiding deliberately.

"What for? An ambush? A guerrilla fighter? This is not your Yimeng Mountain area." Yu Meng's face was full of peach blossoms, and she was extremely beautiful.

Liangcai skipped the sweet talk and just leaned over and kissed her. Yu Meng struggled, but Liangcai forced the kiss down on her.

Bang!

She slapped him. She cheered in her heart. This was hitting the leader, Zu Da! It was satisfying! But outwardly, she smiled, still keeping her sense of humor, and said, "I'll help you sober up."

Liangcai wasn't angry, but he wasn't smiling either. He became even more serious after drinking. He reached out and supported her butt. "Don't want to? Then let's go." He really meant to leave.

Yu Meng quickly said, "Sing that song again."

Liangcai was stunned for a moment, and then he really started to sing with deep affection, "A woman like you makes me happy and sad..." Before he could sing any more, Yu Meng leaned over and kissed him tightly.

There was a thud, and the bottle of hand sanitizer rolled to the ground. Even the high heels couldn't resist gravity and landed on the ground with a clatter.

Only at the bus stop did Yu Jia remember he'd forgotten to take the food. He'd spent ages packing it, only to forget to take it when he was leaving because he was talking to Yu Meng. These were all good dishes; it would be a waste not to take them. Yu Jia thought about it, then finally turned back and headed for the hotel.

The lights in the private room were still on. The hall was silent. The cake was still there, like a collapsed mountain. The waiter hadn't come to clean up the room yet. Yu Jia saw the packed food still on the chair. He grabbed it and left.

When I got to the door, I suddenly felt the urge to go to the bathroom. The journey was long, and I didn't know when the bus would arrive. The cold wind made the urge to pee even stronger. I decided to go.

Yu Jia pulled her clothes and walked steadily to the bathroom. She hadn't drunk much that night, just a few drinks.

I pushed open the door and looked up - Yu Meng was sitting on the sink, Liangcai was kissing her.

The bathroom looked like it had just been through World War II!

Yu Jia couldn't help but scream, and quickly covered her mouth, and her urine stopped and flowed back up in fear.

She turned and ran.

What is this!

In a panic, Yu Jia forgot about the bag and the vegetables and ran out.
