Chapter 8

Xie Chen bent down and scooped the little kitten sitting on his feet into his arms.

"alright."

He touched Bai Li's eye with his long, slender fingers and slowly instructed, "Hold back your tears."

Bai Li sniffed, her wet eyes fixed on him without blinking.

Thankfully, she looks a little normal now, holding her husband.

Xie Chen lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the kitten's eyes, thinking casually—

The tears in my eyes are for him.

That's really strange.

Since his parents disappeared, apart from Uncle Xie and a few others, everyone around him wished he would die sooner.

This little kitten, whom he had only met a few times, was so good at repaying him with such kindness after just a small favor.

At this moment, Xie Chen showed no outward expression, but inwardly he was very pleased.

Bai Li was held in his arms, her claws clenching his fingers tightly, still obediently holding back her tears.

A moment later.

Xie Chen, who usually stayed in the music room all night, unusually opened the door in the middle of the night and went out.

The corridor outside was long. Xie Chen held the kitten and played with it for a while. After playing with it, he put the kitten in its cat bed and prepared to go back to rest.

But no sooner had he left than Bai Li hurriedly followed him.

He doesn't want to sleep alone tonight.

Half a minute later.

As soon as Xie Chen opened the bedroom door, a white shadow darted past his feet.

He pressed the switch, and the light from the incandescent bulb illuminated everything in the room, including the round, chubby kitten's bottom at the very bottom of the curtains.

Xie Chen: "..."

Xie Chen changed into slippers, his eyes filled with mixed emotions as he looked at the curtains. He understood the little guy's intention to hide himself, but what kind of hiding method was it to only tuck his head in while leaving his bottom sticking out?

"cough."

Xie Shen cleared his throat and made a move to approach the little silly cat that was hiding its head.

Bai Li trembled with nervousness when she heard the approaching footsteps.

I can't see him, I can't see him.

Bai Li faced the wall, trying to hypnotize herself with her mind, and incidentally, to hypnotize Xie Chen as well!

Xie Chen sat on the bed, staring at the nervous, round bottom under the curtains, unsure whether he should expose her or not.

The two remained locked in a stalemate for a while. Finally, Xie Chen rubbed his temples, but still stuck to his principles and ruthlessly carried the kitten out.

Bai Li, who was grabbed by the back of her neck and lifted out, meowed.

Put it back!

Xie Chen ignored his meows, shut the cat out the door, and said calmly, "Go back to your cat bed to sleep."

Even if this little kitten is special, there's no way he'd leave any living creature to spend the night in his bed, or rather, in his room.

Bai Li stared at the door that had closed in front of him, her beautiful amber eyes filled with loneliness.

"Meow."

I can sleep on the floor.

Bai Li meowed softly. He was not at ease leaving his husband, who was taking medicine haphazardly, alone in the room. What if he took medicine again?

Xie Chen listened to the meowing outside the door, but remained completely unmoved.

He turned off the light, lifted the covers, and lay down.

Even though he had already taken his medicine, he still couldn't fall asleep at all, just like before.

The long, oppressive night breeds all sorts of vile and violent thoughts.

Xie Chen closed his eyes, trying his best to suppress those dark emotions.

I don't know how much time passed.

He sank from the agonizing lucidity into a familiar nightmare, a nightmare in which he felt as if he were in a hellish abyss...

"Meow, meow!"

Sir, open the door!

Bai Li, standing outside the door, suddenly cried out urgently. He sniffed, discerning the increasingly chilling aura gathering in the air.

These stench surged into the bedroom like a black tide, and Bai Li paced anxiously. Her husband was in the bedroom, and these unclean things would be harmful to him.

Bai Li, who was so anxious she was about to faint, tilted her head back and looked at the doorknob.

"Thud—"

He sprang up and hung himself on the doorknob, using his body weight to press the doorknob down.

Fortunately, the door wasn't locked; it was just closed normally, so Bai Li successfully opened it.

Upon entering the room.

Bai Li looked at the man who was shrouded in a black tide, and without thinking, jumped onto the bed and stepped on his chest.

"Meow!!!"

As the demon core circulated, Bai Li's fur stood on end, and he let out a threatening roar, forcefully smashing the sticky black mist with his claws.

After descending the mountain, Bai Li discovered that there were many, many black mists in the human world that could affect human emotions, and that being entangled by them could have very bad consequences.

This black mist isn't just found in the human world; the spiritual energy of their Monster Mountain has also been diminishing over the years.

I heard that the spiritual energy of their Monster Mountain has diminished because they lost a treasure.

The older brothers and sisters ventured down the mountain with the goal of finding treasure and saving Monster Mountain.

Bai Li wasn't entrusted with such a difficult task as finding a treasure. As the little darling of all the demons on Monster Mountain, everyone would be satisfied if Bai Li could find her fiancé and successfully transform into human form.

"Meow meow".

After filming the black mist for a long time, Bai Li was so tired that she could barely lift her hands.

He plopped down on Xie Chen's chest, forcing himself to stay alert, and continued waving his claws.

The black fog gradually thinned out.

Xie Chen, who had been plagued by insomnia and nightmares for years, suddenly found himself in a place so beautiful it seemed like a fairyland. In his sleep, the familiar hellish landscape disappeared from his sight.

In that place, he found a rare tranquility and peace.

Xie Chen was sound asleep, but Bai Li was exhausted.

Finally, dawn broke. Bai Li looked at Xie Chen on the bed, who was already sleeping soundly. He raised his paw to rub his eyes, yawned, and jumped off the bed.

The husband wouldn't let him sleep in the room.

Bai Li remembered that he was locked outside. After jumping down, he quietly walked out, closing the door behind him, pretending that he had never been inside.

"Meow."

I'm so sleepy.

Bai Li's paws were trembling, and her little body swayed from side to side. It took her a lot of effort to finally get back to her cat bed.

It was still a bit early, and Bai Li was so sleepy that she tilted her head and fell asleep in the cat's bed.

Meanwhile, Xie Chen, who was having a rare good night's sleep in his room, was completely unaware that the little kitten he had taken in had been guarding him all night.

"Kitty."

At 8:30 in the morning, Uncle Xie squatted down in front of the cat's bed with a loving expression.

"Are you awake yet? Let's go have breakfast."

Bai Li: "Huff huff huff"

I'm still not fully awake.

Uncle Xie's heart melted when he saw the little kitten curled up in its cat bed.

The Xie family has a rule that cats must be treated well. Although Uncle Xie has always loved cats, the family has never kept one without his husband's permission.

This time, the family finally has a cat, and such an adorable little kitten at that. Uncle Xie squinted his eyes, feeling incredibly content.

Bai Li's ears twitched at the sound of Uncle Xie calling her to eat, and at the same time, her stomach rumbled.

"Kitty, wake up." Uncle Xie heard the snoring, reached out and patted his head: "Let's go eat cat food. I fried some fresh dried fish for you."

Small, dried fish.

Bai Li slowly opened her eyes, her gaze meeting Xie Bo's.

Uncle Xie opened his arms to him: "Come on, let's go eat some dried fish."

Bai Li knew Uncle Xie, who was just like her husband, both were exceptionally kind.

He shook his head, climbed out of the cat bed, and placed his paws in Uncle Xie's hand.

Uncle Xie carried him and led him to the restaurant, where a bowl of freshly fried golden dried fish was laid out on the table.

The dried fish were crispy and delicious. Bai Li held them down with her paws and ate them one by one in a few bites.

"Kitty, have some milk."

Uncle Xie was worried that he would eat too dry food, so he pushed the prepared kitten formula in front of him.

Bai Li gulped down half a basin of water and then ate some dried fish.

After eating and drinking his fill, Bai Li let out a soft burp, tilted his head back, and let Uncle Xie wipe his face.

"So good."

Uncle Xie looked at the little kitten cooperating with him to wipe its face and couldn't help but sigh.

He had seen stray cats on the roadside before, but those stray cats were all fierce and wouldn't allow anyone to get close, even if they were given food.

Not to mention being able to pinch their paws and wipe their faces like they do now.

Bai Li had breakfast here and wanted to go back.

Dian Dian and Da Hui are still receiving treatment at the hospital, and Mei Mei is going to work with him.

He can't be a lazy little kitten here.

"Meow!"

Before leaving, Bai Li tugged at Uncle Xie's trouser leg. When Uncle Xie looked down, she immediately fell down with a thud, spread her belly, and invited Uncle Xie to touch her.

He had no money, so this was the only way he could repay Uncle Xie with dried fish and milk powder.

Uncle Xie didn't know he was leaving. Seeing his actions, he was so charmed that he wanted to fry ten more bowls of dried fish for him.

Bai Li was touched on the back by Xie Bogang a few times, and then she could vaguely hear noises coming from upstairs.

Sherber keenly caught the sound and immediately stopped.

"Kitty, go play by yourself first."

Uncle Xie packed up all the dried fish, put them in his bag, and hung them around his neck.

"Eat this if you're hungry. I'm going to check on the master."

Bai Li smelled the aroma of the dried fish and bowed gratefully, saying, "Meow meow."

Thanks!

Uncle Xie turned and went upstairs. Bai Li, with dried fish hanging from her arm, watched his figure disappear down the stairs and then ran out.

He's leaving.

Perfect timing, these dried fish can be brought to Dian Dian and the others for breakfast.

Although the Xie family has security, they are very vigilant.

But it's still hard to prevent a tiny kitten, no bigger than your palm, from sneaking out.

Not long after.

Bai Li ran out with the dried fish. He wasn't very good at finding his way around, and when he finally got to the hospital, he relied entirely on cat hypnosis to ask passersby for directions.

At the intersection near the hospital, Bai Li saw a large poster standing by the roadside. The poster featured Tan Yi, a popular celebrity, as the brand's spokesperson.

Bai Li tilted her head as she looked at the handsome man's expression on the poster.

He has an older brother named Bai Yi, whose name is misspelled by one character.

That definitely isn't my brother.

Bai Li withdrew her gaze, suppressed her longing for her third brother Bai Yi, and continued towards the hospital with her short legs.

well.

As Bai Li ran, he couldn't help but think that his older brothers and sisters couldn't find him, and he couldn't find his fiancé either.

Life is so hard.

Being a kitten is so hard.
