Chapter 278 You're the New Dad?
As promised, Mao Mao was going to catch butterflies for her friend. Along the way, her little head kept turning around, searching for them.
"Ouch!"
She tripped over something, her small body lurched forward, but before she could hit the ground, Lou Fengju grabbed her by the back of her collar and pulled her back to her upright.
Lou Fengju patted her collar, which he had crumpled up: "Mao Mao, do you want your brother to hug you?"
"hold head high?"
Mao Mao thought for a moment, then shook her head vigorously: "No!"
She waved the small insect net in her hand: "Mao Mao, catch the butterflies."
Lou Hongjian asked with a smile, "Mao Mao, weren't you looking for a cave? I was all set to camp with you."
Mao Mao shook her head: "Catch the butterfly first, and give it to Sophie."
In no time, the line to catch butterflies stretched all the way to the cave entrance.
Lou Yansui took her hand: "Then I'll hold your hand so you won't fall."
"Um!"
The other two older brothers were a step too late, and looked regretfully at her other little hand holding the insect net, unable to hold it anymore.
"Mao Mao, how come you're so close to that little Sophie?" Lou Hongjian said jealously, "You haven't even said you'd give me a butterfly yet."
Having almost tripped, Mao Mao carefully watched the bumpy road under her feet, while also searching for butterflies. Multitasking, she answered absentmindedly, "Sophie is unhappy."
"How can you tell? She wasn't happy when you shared snacks with her?"
Mao Mao said with an adorable look, "Mao Mao knows."
The group was speechless.
Mao Mao has that kind of intuition; no matter who in the family is sad or upset, she's always the first to notice.
Mao Mao has made a new friend and cares about her friend very much. She is determined to give the first butterfly she caught today to her friend.
She ran around with her insect net, huffing and puffing, followed by her three older brothers and the big white cat, going wherever she went.
Soon, the first colorful butterfly fluttered in front of everyone. Mao Mao's eyes lit up, and she raised her insect net and rushed towards it with the big white cat, meowing loudly.
With a casual wave of her little net, the butterfly landed in it.
The big white cat meowed and came over, stretching out its furry paws to play with the butterfly. Mao Mao carefully protected its little net so that the cat wouldn't touch it.
Meow~
The big white cat rubbed its head against her, meowing.
Mao Mao pushed its big head away with its little hand and said seriously, "No, this is Sophie."
Meow~~~
"Kitty, you can't."
While being harassed by the big white cat, Mao Mao pushed the cat away and cried out for her brother to help.
Lou Fengju took an empty glass jar from her bag, carefully and nimbly scooped the butterfly out of her small net, placed it inside the jar, and closed the lid. There was a hole punched in the lid, so there was no need to worry about suffocating the butterfly.
Having lost its target, the big white cat also gave up with little interest.
With Mao Mao around, there's no fear of not finding butterflies.
Around noon, they found a scenic spot to sit down, spread out a cloth, took out the food they had brought with them from their backpacks, and began their picnic.
Lou Hongjian, with a sandwich in his mouth, also began to draw.
The day before yesterday, he carried a heavy easel and paints, playing wildly on the mountain with his brothers and sisters. Today, he was much more well-behaved, only bringing a notebook and pencils, and only sketching. He was also much faster.
Before he had even finished eating a sandwich, the painting was already complete.
While he was drawing, Mao Mao snuggled up to him, her little body close to his, her bright eyes watching the tip of his pen move around.
After he finished drawing, Mao Mao finished her sandwich and clapped her hands loudly: "Brother is awesome!"
Lou Hongjian, beaming with pride, immediately turned to the next page: "Mao Mao, sit up straight and be your brother's little muse."
Mao Mao is already quite skilled at being her brother's little muse!
She immediately jumped up, ran to her brother, grabbed the big white cat, and gave him a sweet smile.
After a while, the little muse asked, "Brother, can you draw me and Sophie?"
“No problem, I can draw it all.” Lou Hongjian scribbled away with his pen. “I also brought a camera. When we get home, I’ll take pictures of you and her.”
"That's great!"
After a while, the little muse said again, "Brother, we need to draw butterflies too."
"No problem, no problem at all."
Lou Hongjian agreed to everything.
As dusk fell, the group walked home in the setting sun.
As they passed the yellow villa, Mao Mao, holding onto the fence, stood on tiptoe and shouted loudly inside, "Sophie!"
"Sophie!"
I'll catch a butterfly for you!
She called out several times, but Sophie didn't come out. Instead, a tall, blond, blue-eyed Westerner walked out of the house.
Mr. Langdon walked up to her and looked down at the short, chubby-cheeked little girl with round eyes. She looked a little younger than his daughter.
"hold head high?"
Mao Mao looked at him with a puzzled expression.
But she still greeted him obediently: "Hello, Uncle."
“Hello,” Mr. Langdon said. “I’m Sophie’s father.”
"oh……"
Mao Mao blinked, stared at him blankly for a moment, then suddenly remembered something and asked excitedly, "Uncle, are you Sophie's new dad?"
Mr. Langdon: "..."
The three older brothers behind them: "..."
Lou Fengju strode forward and covered his younger sister's face with his large hand: "Alright, Mao Mao, stop talking."
