Chapter 36 Riding a Big Horse
The car, carrying the three siblings, drove all the way to the horse farm on the outskirts of Haicheng.
As soon as Mao Mao got out of the car, she opened her eyes wide and looked around: "It's different from the last time I came. I've never been here before."
Lou Fengju smiled faintly, his eyes flashing coldly at his younger brother. Lou Hongjian immediately looked up at the sky, cold sweat pouring down his back.
“Ah Hong took you to the racecourse before, which is for horse racing. We’re not betting on horses today, we’re just riding them,” Lou Fengju said.
This is a private horse ranch. There are no horse races or spectators. The fences enclose a large grassy area. There are very few people on the wide grassland, and a few horses are strolling around, occasionally lowering their heads to graze.
They had contacted the horse farm owner in advance, and as soon as they arrived, the person in charge of the horse farm rushed over to greet them.
"Young Marshal," he greeted Lou Fengju respectfully, then turned to Lou Hongjian and said, "Third Young Master."
Then, looking at Mao Mao, the person in charge didn't recognize her and hesitated for a moment: "This is..."
Lou Fengju lifted the little dumpling in his arms: "This is my little sister, remember her well."
The person in charge quickly replied, "Yes, yes, Miss Lou. Please come with me, the horses are ready."
The person in charge prepared some of the best horses from the horse farm for the group. One was a black horse with jet-black fur and snow-white hooves, and the other was a brown horse with smooth and glossy coat. As soon as Mao Mao saw them, her eyes lit up and she couldn't take her eyes off them.
Lou Fengju and Lou Hongjian both changed into their special equestrian outfits. The neat and handsome clothes made them look even more upright, with legs that seemed to go on forever.
Stepping out of the changing room, Lou Hongjian rushed forward and picked up his younger sister from the ground, saying, "Mao Mao, I'll take you horseback riding!"
Mao Mao: "Huh?"
She nestled obediently on Lou Hongjian's shoulder, her little hands holding the small helmet on her head. To ride a horse, Mao Mao had changed out of her tutu and into a children's riding outfit; the helmet straps left two marks on her chubby cheeks.
Lou Fengju slowly walked out of the changing room and saw his younger sister being carried away by his younger brother, who was perched on his shoulder, looking at him expectantly.
He raised an eyebrow, took a long stride, and strode over to snatch Mao Mao back.
"Big brother?!"
“Ah Hong, don’t forget, I’m the one who brought Mao Mao out to play today. Besides, your riding skills aren’t as good as mine.”
Lou Hongjian was a little unwilling: "I grabbed it first..."
Lou Fengju smiled provocatively: "Do you want to have a match with me?"
As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeves, revealing his well-defined, muscular arms.
Lou Hongjian glanced at him and saw the curve of the muscles on his forearm, wisely swallowing his objection.
Clearly, this competition does not refer to a horseback riding contest.
Of course, even in horsemanship, he couldn't compare to his older brother.
Lou Fengju, carrying Mao Mao, walked to the two horses: "Mao Mao, which one do you like?"
Mao Mao stared intently at the two horses. One was jet black, the other light brown. Both horses nuzzled against her affectionately, their warm, moist breath spraying onto her little face as if she were a fragrant carrot.
Mao Mao touched this horse's head, then touched that horse's head. She liked them all.
"Brother, they are so big." Mao Mao stretched out her little hand, her short fingers grasping at the air, and she obediently said, "Mao Mao is small, I want a pony."
Lou Fengju smiled.
The person in charge asked, "Young Marshal, would you like me to fetch a pony?"
There are also ponies in the riding arena for children to practice on.
"Need not."
Lou Fengju lowered his head to coax his younger sister, "You're too young to ride a horse by yourself. Your brother needs to take you. Besides, you don't know how to ride a horse, and your brother will worry about you."
"Brother, take me with you?"
"Brother will ride with you." Lou Fengju coaxed her, "Mao Mao, don't you like riding a big horse? You can sit high up and see very far."
Mao Mao thought for a moment, then obediently nodded: "Okay."
She chose the black horse with its glossy coat. Lou Fengju first put her on the horse's back and told her to hold the reins tightly. The horse stood obediently in place. Once she was settled, Lou Fengju climbed onto the horse's back.
As soon as he sat down, a soft, warm little body leaned against him, falling into his arms as if it had no bones.
Lou Fengju smiled, supporting his sister's back with his hands and encircling her in his arms.
"Are you seated?" he asked, looking down.
"Hmm!"
Mao Mao gripped the reins tightly, nervously watching the black horse's mane, her chubby little face full of tension.
Once I sat down, I realized how incredibly high it was!
Mao Mao kicked her legs, but they were too short to reach the stirrups, leaving her helplessly suspended in mid-air. Although she was sitting in her brother's lap, protected by him, Mao Mao's fear surged and churned, almost overwhelming her.
Mao Mao tilted her head back and said pitifully, "Brother, it's so tall, I'm scared."
Lou Fengju patted her little head: "Don't be afraid, your brother is here."
Soon, the dark horse started moving.
It strolled leisurely across the grassland, occasionally lowering its head to graze. The ride on horseback was less smooth than in a car, and somewhat bumpy.
Mao Mao's heart was pounding. After riding the horse for a while, with the gentle breeze caressing her cheeks and her reliable older brother behind her, she quickly calmed down, and a happy smile gradually appeared on her round little face.
Lou Hongjian caught up with them on horseback, the hooves clattering as he quickly passed them.
He laughed heartily: "Mao Mao, come and chase me! If you catch me, I'll take you to a fancy restaurant for dinner tonight!"
Grand Hotel!
Mao Mao's face lit up, and she immediately gripped the reins tightly, kicking her legs in mid-air, determined to overtake him.
Lou Fengju laughed: "Mao Mao, shall we catch up with him?"
"Okay!" Mao Mao replied loudly.
At first, Lou Fengju didn't dare to ride too fast, afraid of scaring his little sister in his arms, but Mao Mao's little head was already occupied by the delicious food in the restaurant, and she forgot all other thoughts.
Watching her three older brothers' figures grow smaller and smaller as they ran further and further away, seemingly impossible to catch, Mao Mao became extremely anxious, every inch of her flesh straining with all her might. "Brothers, hurry!"
The grand hotel is going to be far away!
Lou Fengju: "Mao Mao, hold on tight, we're about to overtake him!"
As he spoke, he spurred his horse, and the black horse neighed and trotted away, quickly chasing after the figure in front of it.
A strong wind blew across Mao Mao's soft cheeks, messing up her soft hair. The surrounding scenery rushed past, making it much more exciting than riding in a car.
Mao Mao felt no fear at all, and her joyful laughter echoed across the spacious horse field.
Soon, they caught up with Lou Hongjian ahead.
After catching up, the horse did not stop. Lou Fengju carried her forward, galloping across the wide grassland, leaving Lou Hongjian and his horse far behind.
Mao Mao clapped her little hands: "Brother, faster, faster!"
"no problem."
With a relaxed smile on his lips, Lou Fengju steered his horse, easily leading her across a stream and a rock, past people and horses, until they reached the edge of the pasture and saw the wooden fence.
With a cry of surprise from Mao Mao, the black horse reared up, leaped, and gracefully crossed the high railing, landing easily on the ground.
The child's surprised cry fell to the ground.
Lou Fengju tightened the reins, stopping the horse, and looked down to ask his younger sister, "Mao Mao, are you scared?"
Mao Mao happily said, "Brother, again! Mao Mao wants to play more!"
Horse riding is so much fun!
Lou Fengju readily agreed: "Okay, I'll do whatever Mao Mao says!"
