"Have I seen you somewhere before?" Xu Lanzhi's casual remark stirred up a storm in Erzhu's heart and made Tang Dongsheng even more wary of Erzhu.
Erzhuzi suppressed the thousand words in his heart, letting Tang Dongsheng quickly leave with Xu Lanzhi in his arms. He vaguely heard Tang Dongsheng say:
"He's just an orphan from the village, how could my wife have ever seen him before!"
"Is he an orphan?" Xu Lanzhi's heart skipped a beat. When she looked back, Erzhuzi had already walked far away, leaving only an extremely lonely figure.
Erzhuzi sighed silently, wondering if he had really made a mistake back then.
The bright moonlight streamed into the room through the window. The extreme pain and oppression made Erzhu almost suffocate. He suddenly sat up and sat there blankly.
Tang Qiqi pretended to be asleep for a long time, but her hands and feet felt numb. She turned over with her eyes closed, kicking the thin blanket off the bed.
Her movements brought Erzhuzi back to his senses. Erzhuzi quietly got out of bed and walked towards Tang Qiqi.
Tang Qiqi's palms were sweating nervously. She cursed inwardly, "The fox's tail is about to be revealed. Erzhuzi is still thinking about his bundle."
Tang Qiqi's thoughts immediately returned to her spatial dimension. She needed to find a suitable weapon. A hammer? Too heavy; outside the spatial dimension, a little baby like her couldn't hold it. A wooden stick? How could it possibly be a match for the strong and muscular Erzhuzi?
Finally, she took a stun gun from the security room, ready to deliver a fatal blow to Erzhuzi as soon as he got close.
Erzhuzi reached the bedside, bent down to pick up the thin blanket from the ground, and gently covered Tang Qiqi with it.
Tang Qiqi wondered to herself, "Could it be that I misunderstood Uncle Erzhu? Did he just come to cover me with a blanket?"
Erzhuzi sat by the bed, gazing at Tang Qiqi's "sleeping" face, his heart filled with tenderness. If he hadn't been so cowardly back then, this soft and adorable baby who looked just like Xu Lanzhi would have been his child.
Suddenly, Erzhuzi raised his hand and rushed towards Tang Qiqi's pillow.
Tang Qiqi sneered inwardly, "I overestimated you." She had placed the bundle under her pillow.
Tang Qiqi deftly turned on the stun gun and struck Erzhuzi hard in the abdomen, causing Erzhuzi to roll over and fall to the ground.
Tang Qiqi sat up abruptly, clapped her hands nonchalantly, and looked at Erzhuzi, who was lying unconscious on the ground, saying, "You're still too green to fight me!"
After she finished speaking, she turned her head and glanced at the bundle. Oh my god, Tang Qiqi was so frightened that she jumped off the bed. Luckily, Erzhuzi was there to cushion her fall.
A huge spider was hanging from the roof beam, carrying a piece of silk, right next to his pillow, baring its fangs and claws.
Tang Qiqi came to her senses. Could it be that Uncle Erzhu was trying to cook the spider for her?
The spider had already fallen onto the bed, then quickly climbed off and headed towards Tang Qiqi.
"Ah! Help!" Tang Qiqi screamed in terror, wildly waving the stun gun in her hand with her eyes closed.
After a long while, she opened her eyes, and the spider had been burned to a crisp by the electric baton.
She then regained her senses and realized that she had misunderstood Uncle Erzhuzi. Erzhuzi was still lying on the ground, motionless.
Tang Qiqi burst into tears. She had become a murderer, and the one who died was her beloved Uncle Erzhu!
No, we can't let Uncle Erzhu die. Tang Qiqi walked to the table with her short legs, tiptoed to pick up the teapot, and poured the whole pot of cold tea on Erzhu's face.
Erzhuzi remained motionless. Tang Qiqi recalled the scene in the TV series where a car's electrical circuit was used to strike the target, and thought, "My stun gun should work too, right?"
So she turned the stun gun down a degree or two and struck Erzhuzi's heart.
Erzhuzi exclaimed "Ah!" and slowly woke up. Seeing Tang Qiqi with tears in her eyes, Erzhuzi hugged her tightly and asked, "Qiqi, Qiqi, are you alright? Be careful of spiders!"
Tang Qiqi felt guilty and scared, and she buried her face in Erzhu's shoulder and burst into tears.
Erzhuzi thought she was scared, so he quickly comforted her, saying, "Qiqi, don't cry. It's because Uncle Zhuzi is useless. He can't even handle a spider. He was poisoned and knocked unconscious before he even touched it!"
Tang Qiqi secretly rejoiced. This Uncle Zhu was truly an angel. He could come up with reasons for any difficult-to-explain situation, so now she didn't need to explain why he had fainted.
After this incident, Tang Qiqi was completely at ease with Erzhuzi, and the two happily set off again.
Erzhu asked as he drove the cart, "Qiqi, where do you think we should find a buyer? Uncle Zhu has no idea what to do!"
Tang Qiqi stuffed a piece of chocolate into Erzhu's mouth, ate one herself, and then slowly said, "Let's go to Lanling!"
Erzhuzi laughed heartily: "Haha, Lanling, Xiao Qiqi, do you know what Lanling is? We country folk wouldn't dare go there. Let's go check out the neighboring county!"
Qiqi stubbornly insisted, "No, let's go to Lanling. There are lots of people and lots of money in Lanling, and everything sells well there!"
Erzhuzi still refused: "Those rich people wouldn't even look at our stuff, Qiqi, I can't listen to you on this!"
Tang Qiqi began to explain, "Uncle Zhu, you said it yourself, going to Lanling is only two days longer than the neighboring county, but Lanling's population is more than ten times that of the county seat. More people means more things can be done!"
Erzhuzi still insisted on his own opinion: "That makes sense, but with our poor appearance, they won't even give us a chance to speak!"
Tang Qiqi pouted and said, "Uncle Zhu, let's go to Lanling. I promise I'll find a buyer and buy all the chickens. Just trust Qiqi!"
Erzhuzi was powerless against Tang Qiqi's sweet talk. He smiled helplessly and said, "You make it sound so noble, but I think you're just a little devil who wants to take this opportunity to visit the big city! Fine, whatever you say. If it doesn't work out, we can come back. It won't make a difference if we stay a couple more days!"
Tang Qiqi clapped her hands excitedly: "Uncle Zhu is the best! Lanling, here we come!"
The two traveled day and night, and after several days they finally arrived in Lanling.
The tall city gate tower looked majestic, and there were soldiers in armor guarding the entrance.
Erzhuzi immediately deflated and said nervously, "Qiqi, why don't we go back? This place looks really creepy!"
Tang Qiqi looked at the helpless Erzhuzi and felt both amused and sorry for him. This man, who was almost forty years old, had spent his whole life in Tangjiagou. The farthest he had ever been was the county. Lanling was equivalent to the provincial capital now. It was only natural that he would be nervous.
Tang Qiqi is different. At heart, she's a graduate student from the most prestigious modern agricultural university. This kind of place is nothing to her.
Tang Qiqi patted Erzhuzi's arm and said, "Don't worry, Uncle, I've got everything covered!"
Although he was comforting himself with the words of a three-year-old, Erzhu suddenly felt less panicked.
