Chapter 400 Corpse Transport!

However, the stilted houses here are a bit strange...

Standing in the courtyard, Song Mengmeng looked at the strange design of the semi-basement, and unconsciously thought of a tomb setting.

However, she did not say these words aloud, but kept this doubt to herself.

She shared a room with Yao Anna and Bai Wei on the third floor overlooking the river. After Song Mengmeng and the other two moved into the five rooms on the third floor, Yue Lili and another actress, Zhu Yuanyuan, also moved in.

We were all just nodding acquaintances in the crew, so even though we were staying on the same floor, we just exchanged simple greetings and went back to our rooms.

"I don't think what that tour guide said is reliable at all! Look, if we really can't go out after 10 o'clock, look downstairs, there's a whole row of bars and nightclubs!"

"Ten o'clock might just be the start of nightlife, okay? How can it just end like this?!"

Yao Anna leaned against the window, glanced outside, then turned back to call Song Mengmeng to look together, while simultaneously complaining about the tour guide's pretentious antics on the bus.

However, Song Mengmeng did not agree with her words. Instead, she unusually stuck to her opinion, just like the tour guide: "Actually, the tour guide's point was not that we can't go out after 10 o'clock!"

If you're walking on the street after 10 a.m., don't walk in the middle of the road!

Because it will block other people's way.

Song Mengmeng didn't think there was anything wrong with what the tour guide said, and as she entered the town, she did discover some strange things.

First, there's the construction of this house.

Especially for houses facing the street, almost half of the first floor is buried underground!

From a certain perspective, this kind of house design is actually quite unreasonable! For example, when it rains, it practically forces the rain to flow back into the house!

But the houses in this town all maintain this architectural style.

Moreover, the roof doesn't feature the dougong (bracket set) shape found elsewhere; instead, it's semi-circular, resembling an inverted pot...

If you look closely, it really does resemble a tomb...

Moreover, white lanterns hung under the eaves of every house along the street...

This is certainly not unfounded. Perhaps some travelers might say it's just a decorative element to create an effect, but what if it really is a soul-guiding lamp?!

Song Mengmeng turned to Yao Anna and whispered, "Anyway, it's always better to be safe than sorry. This town isn't very big, we can just take a stroll around for a bit, and it's best not to go out at night!"

"Okay, I'll go check on Sister Weiwei. If she's all ready, we'll go out for a stroll!"

Yao Anna nodded, not objecting to Song Mengmeng's arrangement. In fact, at the thought of going out, she immediately stood up, turned around, and ran towards the door. However, she hadn't run out for long before she shrank back and wandered back. As soon as she saw Song Mengmeng, she whispered mysteriously, "Never mind, let's just go out and play by ourselves!"

"Wang Wei is here?!" Upon seeing Yao Anna's appearance, Song Mengmeng almost immediately guessed what had happened.

She could even extrapolate from this and think about it from different perspectives, and she could almost understand why people like them, who had nothing else to do, had the opportunity to come to Mingshan Ancient Town for a relaxing trip...

With Wang Wei, that sucker, as a sponsor!

Despite their inner complaints, Song Mengmeng and Yao Anna never actually considered being third wheels.

So the two of them quickly packed up and left the guesthouse to explore the streets.

In fact, the things sold in these folk towns are all pretty much the same.

However, compared to other places, many businesses in this town are still doing the same old funeral-related businesses, such as various urns and funeral clothes!

There are also a few shops that specialize in making paper figures and horses. The various villas and properties displayed at the entrance are so lifelike that while Song Mengmeng and her friends were having tea and resting in the milk tea shop across the street, several vans had already come to pick up these paper products.

"Wow, now I know where houses are built the fastest in the world!" Yao Anna said, gesturing towards the shop owner across the street who was putting up paper on a villa. She lowered her voice and teased him, half-jokingly and half-seriously, "Look, that shop owner across the street, he's built a four-story villa in the blink of an eye!"

The two chatted and laughed as they strolled around the town, sampled the local specialty noodles and snacks, and finding nothing else to see, bought some fruit and snacks before heading back to their guesthouse.

Song Mengmeng and Yao Anna had no plans to go out again. After thinking about it, Yao Anna still risked being a third wheel and went over to tell Bai Wei about the warning Song Mengmeng had given her!

Wang Wei had finally managed to get into Bai Wei's room to spend some time alone with her, and he couldn't wait to be with her all day long. With this reminder, he was even more eager than ever, and he certainly didn't want to go out again!

After giving Bai Wei her instructions, Song Mengmeng finished her routine phone call with Yan Di, then climbed into bed and squeezed together with Yao Anna, choosing a horror movie to start playing.

The two little ones huddled together, watching "Out of the Dark" with great interest. After watching the whole series, they checked the time and it was almost ten o'clock.

They say you have to go home by 10 p.m. here, but on the riverside street not far downstairs, the music blasting from the speakers outside the bar is still screaming at the top of its lungs...

Yao Anna put on noise-canceling headphones, and her sleep was not affected at all. However, Song Mengmeng, who was next to her, could clearly hear the faint sound of a copper bell that seemed to drift from the ends of the earth among the various songs.
