Chapter 10 Fried Rice Noodles with Egg (2)
Xiao Ran was playing with a puzzle in a corner when she suddenly smelled a faint fragrance.
She stopped working on the puzzle and looked up to find the source of the fragrance.
As soon as Yu Miaoyin entered, she saw Xiao Ran sitting blankly in the chair, shaking her head and looking around as if searching for something.
Soon, she looked up at Yu Miaoyin... holding a plate of fried rice noodles with egg.
Clearly, she was captivated.
Yu Miaoyin couldn't help but smile. She placed the fried rice noodles on the table and said, "Xiao Ran, this is rice noodles that your sister Ayin made for you. Would you like to try some?"
Xiao Ran stared at the rice noodles for a while, then gave a very soft "Mmm," and said, "Thank you..."
"You're welcome. I'm so happy that Xiao Ran likes what I made." Yu Miaoyin gently patted her hair. "There's another one for your mother. Sister Yin, you can go back now."
With another relaxed "hmm," Yu Miaoyin turned and went back into the shop, not seeing Xiao Ran slowly waving at her.
Xiao Ran called out to He Li, who was busy in the kitchen, "Mom, Sister A Yin made us fried rice noodles."
He Li wiped her hands clean on her apron. "Come on, baby, how about Mommy has lunch with you first?"
"Okay." Xiao Ran gave the largest portion to her mother. Actually, she had just picked out quite a few shredded meat and put them into her mother's portion.
He Li immediately recognized that Xiao Ran did the same thing at home.
He Li was so relieved she didn't know what to say. "Baby, can you get Mommy the chopsticks?"
He Li said that Xiao Ran nodded, jumped off the chair to get chopsticks, and then He Li swapped the rice noodles. Xiao Ran probably wouldn't have noticed.
"Mom, here are your chopsticks." After handing over the chopsticks, Xiao Ran was probably so tempted by the aroma that she lowered her head and started eating the fried rice noodles with them.
The aroma of eggs was so strong that Xiao Ran seemed to be buried in the plate. She picked up a strand of rice noodles with her chopsticks, blew on it, and then immediately put it in her mouth to taste it.
"It's so delicious," Xiao Ran murmured.
He Li also tried a bite of the fried rice noodles. The rice noodles were very springy and chewy, with a slight rice aroma, neither dry nor greasy. Tender pork tenderloin shreds were coated with the savory sauce, and the smooth egg, crisp mung bean sprouts, and thin carrot shreds were intertwined with the rice noodles, with a subtle aroma of oil wafting over.
Xiaoyin's cooking skills are truly excellent; she genuinely admires them. It's so delicious that, like Xiaoran, she doesn't want to stop eating. Even when she gets burned by the noodles buried underneath because she's eating too fast, she doesn't want to spit them out.
She thought this fried rice noodle dish was the best she had ever eaten, bar none.
Moreover, she was quite tired when she was preparing the meal, but after tasting this plate of fried rice noodles, she felt full of energy.
Xiao Ran probably liked it too. Her face was so close to the hot fried rice noodles that a few beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, but she didn't want to stop eating. One side of her little face was puffed up from chewing, making her look like a little hamster.
He Li handed her a tissue to wipe her sweat, "Baby, do you like the rice noodles this lady made?"
Xiao Ran finally put down her chopsticks. She nodded and spoke a little louder when talking to her mother, "I like Sister A Yin, and I also like the rice noodles that Sister A Yin stir-fries. They're delicious."
...
After exchanging a few words with another colleague, Uncle Liu sneaked out of Yuncheng No. 1 Middle School and went into the shop. "Boss, could you also fry two servings of rice noodles for me? And two tea eggs, please!"
"Okay, shall we pack it up?" Yu Miaoyin asked, peeking out from the kitchen.
"I'll pack it up and take it home to eat," Uncle Liu said, quickly scanning the money.
As the wok was heated, the aroma of rice mixed with a faint scent of oil wafted out after the rice noodles were added. The sounds of stir-frying in the kitchen grew louder and louder. After the aroma of rice came the aroma of soy sauce, and the flavors of sliced meat, bean sprouts, and shredded radish also emerged from the high heat. Finally, there was a rich aroma of eggs.
Layer upon layer of aroma wafted out, and Uncle Liu swallowed hard, imagining the taste of the fried rice noodles, and drifted off into thought for a moment.
"Uncle Liu, the fried rice noodles are ready." He immediately snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Yu Miaoyin's voice, and quickly grabbed the packaged fried rice noodles and left.
As soon as he got back to the school gate, he opened the fried rice noodles, and a very fragrant aroma of fried rice noodles immediately wafted out.
Uncle Liu was immediately drawn to the contents of the package. Bean sprouts, shredded carrots, pork tenderloin, and rice noodles were all mixed together, and the aroma was irresistible. The smell was simply too delicious.
He didn't forget his business and sent a WeChat message to the owner of the other fried rice noodles.
After receiving the WeChat message, Teacher Li quickly came over. "Here are some apples and bananas for you. Thank you, Uncle Liu."
Ms. Li successfully obtained the fried rice noodles. Just then, the bell rang, signaling the end of get out of class. She took the fried rice noodles and headed to her office.
The aroma of rice noodles wafted out of the box, attracting passing students who turned their heads as they passed by, exclaiming how wonderful it smelled.
She also overheard the students' conversation, which went as follows—
"Can you smell a really nice aroma of rice noodles?"
"I can smell it! It makes me hungry! Let's go!"
"Where did you buy it, teacher? I want to eat it too, it smells so good!"
"It's definitely not the school cafeteria!"
The sound faded into the distance. Students would instinctively shove aside whenever they saw their teacher, as if they'd been electrocuted, so even against the flow of people, Teacher Li quickly made it to the third floor and returned to her office.
With a happy expression, Teacher Li opened the box, revealing strands of rice noodles glistening with oil. Without even sitting down, she eagerly tore open a pair of disposable chopsticks, picked up a strand of fried rice noodles, and put it in her mouth.
The first bite was so fragrant that her eyes lit up instantly. The bean sprouts were crisp, the shredded pork was tender and fragrant, and the scallions on top added freshness and cut through the greasiness of the rice noodles. The aroma of rice and sauce was strong, and you could even taste the wok hei (wok aroma) after stir-frying over high heat.
One bite, and she'll forget all her troubles of the day.
Teacher Li ate several bites standing up before realizing she hadn't sat down, so she quickly put down her chopsticks.
"Teacher Li, where did you buy this? It smells so good!" Teacher Chen, the Chinese teacher, looked up at it after smelling the aroma.
Math teacher Wang opened his lunchbox and exclaimed, "It smells so good! This fried rice noodle dish smells even better than the chicken leg in my bowl!"
Intern teacher Qi Yue brought in the instant noodles she had just made and couldn't help but ask, "Teacher Li, where did you buy this? It smells so good."
"Yes, yes, it smells so good!" The teachers said one after another. Some had gotten food from the cafeteria, some had brought their own food, and some had ordered takeout, but they felt that it could not compare to this fried rice noodles even before they tasted it.
Hearing several teachers say the same thing, she coughed and said, "I bought it from the new restaurant that opened across from the school. It doesn't have a name, but everything the owner makes smells delicious."
The teachers were somewhat incredulous when they heard this, but after looking at and smelling the fried rice noodles, they nodded repeatedly and said they would buy a serving to try tomorrow.
Qi Yue and Teacher Li taught the same class and sat together, so they had a lot to talk about. When Teacher Li saw Qi Yue eating instant noodles again, she scolded her as if she were nagging her own child, "Why are you eating instant noodles again?"
Qi Yue forced a bitter smile. "No one has ever said that the food at Yuncheng No. 1 High School is that bad."
She's not only paying for her internship, but she's also been reduced to eating instant noodles because she doesn't even get any decent food! She's so pitiful!
"That's true," Teacher Li sighed. "I can go home and cook, but you can't because you're in the school dormitory."
She took out a tea egg and gave one to Qi Yue, saying, "Try this tea egg. Would you like to try the fried rice noodles too? The new restaurant across from Yuncheng No.1 Middle School is really good. You can go there to eat."
As a seasoned foodie, Qi Yue could tell from the smell that the fried rice noodles at this shop were pretty good. She nodded and said, "Okay, I'll try it."
Teacher Li quickly used her chopsticks to stir up the fried rice noodles that Qi Yue hadn't eaten yet, and then let her try them.
As soon as it was put into her mouth, Qi Yue made a "hmm" sound, and her eyes widened.
Help! This looks so delicious! Did this really come from that new shop across from the school?!
