Chapter 86: You kicked over someone's offerings, and now you think you can just walk away?

Xie Huaiye and Yan Ning exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with a sense of relief.

Having a safe, flat area to camp on, and the hunter's yard fence as a barrier, was a godsend.

"Thank you so much, brother! It's great to have a place to camp! We promise we won't disturb you!"

Sun Wuji quickly expressed his gratitude, his voice filled with genuine appreciation.

Qi Minghao was so happy he almost jumped for joy: "We have a yard to stay in! We're safe! Quick, quick, let's set up the tent!"

Seeing the group instantly brighten up, the hunter's lips curled into a slight smile, and he waved his hand:

"Don't be shy, you guys do it yourselves. Keep the fire away from the house, I'm going to sleep now."

Everyone happily began setting up tents, preparing to spend the night in the yard.

But not long after.

"Sun Wuji! Your lousy tent pole is poking me!"

Su Muyao stood with her hands on her hips, her voice so shrill it could pierce eardrums, "I want this big place! Spacious! Do you understand?"

Sun Wuji, sweating profusely as he struggled with a pile of windbreak ropes, retorted irritably:

"Miss Su, this courtyard is public, first come, first served, understand? Besides, what do you need such a big space for by yourself? To throw a party?"

He pulled hard on the rope, and the tent swayed and tilted.

"Mind your own business! Is it wrong for me to toss and turn in my sleep?"

Su Muyao stomped her feet in anger, "Look at your shabby tent, it's all crooked and broken, it'll collapse in the wind, don't drag me down with it!"

"Eh..."

Yan Ning and Xie Huaiye, who were standing nearby, exchanged a knowing glance, already used to it.

Sun Wuji and Su Muyao are never a good match when they get together. They started arguing from the moment they chose their campsite until they set up their tents.

"Alright, alright, ancestors!"

Qi Minghao wiped his sweat and stepped in to smooth things over, "Brother Sun, could you move a little? Sister Su, please calm down too."

"This place is big enough, let's all squeeze in and keep warm!"

With everyone's help and mediation, the tents were finally erected in a decent manner.

The moon climbed to the treetops, the insects grew tired of singing, and the world fell silent.

After arguing and bickering for most of the day, the group finally collapsed into exhaustion, yawning as they retreated to their respective little nests.

Su Muyao lay in the spacious tent she had finally managed to secure. Her anger had subsided a bit, but she still felt a little... uneasy.

It seems like I forgot something?

Before she could figure it out, a faint sound entered her ears.

"Waaaaah..."

It sounded like the wind blowing through a narrow crevice, or like some small animal crying softly.

Who is it?

Su Muyao muttered something under her breath. It was quiet outside, with only the faint sound of snoring coming from her companion's tent.

It's probably that kid Sun Wuji.

Su Muyao turned over and covered her head with her sleeping bag.

The sound came again, this time clearer, right outside her tent!

"Waaaaah..."

Intermittent, carrying an indescribable sense of desolation.

Curiosity can sometimes really kill the cat.

The strange sound stirred up Su Muyao's unease.

She held her breath and slowly unzipped the tent a crack.

Then he slowly poked his head out, wanting to see what was causing all this trouble outside.

The moonlight was hazy, and the shadows of the trees swayed in the courtyard.

She squinted, trying hard to pinpoint the source of the sound...

Sudden.

A face suddenly appeared right in front of the gap she had opened!

It was only a few centimeters away from the tip of her nose!

Her face was deathly pale, as if covered with a thick layer of plaster. Her wet hair clung to her cheeks, dripping water droplets.

The most frightening thing was those eyes—empty, lifeless, and staring straight at her!

"ah!!!"

Su Muyao was so scared she almost jumped out of her skin!

Her screams were enough to lift the tent roof off and shatter the tranquility of the night.

She recoiled as if struck by lightning, shrinking back into the tent, her heart pounding wildly, feeling as if it were about to leap out of her throat.

"What happened? What happened?!"

"Su Muyao? What happened?!"

"Is there a snake? Or a thief?"

The other tents immediately erupted in chaos.

The zippers rattled loudly, and Yan Ning, Sun Wuji, Xie Huaiye, and Feng Jun all peeked out sleepily.

"A ghost! There's a ghost! A female ghost!"

Su Muyao huddled in the corner of the tent, her voice trembling uncontrollably, pointing to her tent flap:

"Right outside! A big white face!"

Everyone looked in the direction she pointed, and in the moonlight, on the light-colored tent flap of Su Muyao's tent...

A dark red, wet handprint was clearly visible!

The five fingers were clearly visible, with several blood-like streaks running down the edges!

"My God!"

Qi Minghao was so frightened that he almost rolled out of the tent.

"Oh my god, is this blood?!"

Xia Wantang also covered her mouth and gasped.

Even Sun Wuji, who had just been arguing fiercely with Su Muyao, turned pale at this moment.

When Su Muyao saw the handprint, she was so frightened that she almost fainted. She was trembling uncontrollably.

[Oh my god, where did this bloody handprint come from? That's terrifying!]

I was just about to leave when Su Muyao yelled and kept me there.

【Wait, is it really this exciting so late at night? I'm a little scared!】

[Is this what the hunter meant when he said the night wouldn't be peaceful?]

[Bullet screen protection! Bullet screen protection! Evil spirits begone! Evil spirits begone!]
