Chapter 115: Tribute

Ava felt like she had walked for hours, her feet started to feel numb.

It was still dark.

And the only thing she could hear was the sound of the stream.

"Alright..." she said. "I’m tired. Whoever you are.... The one who put me inside this place... talk to me."

"I think it’s not fair that you are hiding somewhere in the dark while I— I just walked around without a damn clue where I am at."

"Stop fooling around and show yourself!" Ava said.

"Hey!"

Exhausted, she sat down and immediately felt the sand around her.

"This isn’t a dream, right?" This was too real to be a dream. Plus, she had no control inside this place. If this was her dream, she would have been able to control this place. "What is this? Some prank?" She sighed.

She recalled what happened before her body hit something.

The time seemed to slow down at that very moment.

It was weird.

And it was the first time that this happened to her.

"Whatever this is... I want you to stop, alright?"

Strangely enough, Ava didn’t feel hungry or thirsty.

She blinked before letting out a loud sigh.

"This isn’t funny... this— " she gritted her teeth. "Can you take me back?" The only reason why she was speaking like this is that she didn’t feel any malice from this place. In fact, it was too peaceful; it was almost hypnotic.

"I want to go back," she added.

Go back?

Does she really want to go back? freёweɓnovel_com

She could stay here.

It would be quiet and peaceful.

There will be no problem and she won’t get hungry.

After a while, Ava blinked.

For some reason, she felt like her mind was trying to convince her to stay in this place.

"Fuck," she uttered in horror. Was she inside a damn illusion?

Why would she start doubting leaving this place?

That didn’t make any sense!

This place might be quiet yet it was dark and... lonely.

She thought of her brother.

Then she thought of Matthew.

Right. Her mate.

Matthew.

She needed to get back to Matthew.

Ava’s blood started boiling as she thought of Matthew. The calmness that she had earlier seemed to vanish as panic settled in.

Where the hell was she?

What the hell was this place?

She bit her lower lip as she thought of what the Shaman told her.

Was it possible that she was in a different dimension? Or plane? Was that even possible?

She could barely control her ability!

Was it because of Gabi?

Yes.

That must have prompted her to travel into a different dimension!

So... how was she going to get back?

She thought of Shaman Gaas’s words. Was that really possible? Perhaps this was just a dream? Maybe hallucinations? Maybe she’s going crazy? Maybe she’s losing it.

She let out a chuckle.

She was talking to herself and now, she’s laughing on her own.

Yeah. She must be losing it.

She let out another sigh. She really needed to leave this place and see Matthew.

Right.

It had been a few days since they fucked.

She should leave and take advantage of that body of him.

Then she laughed again.

Look at her thinking about Matthew as she tried to break away from her own mind.

She lied down and stared at the darkness.

Yeah. She missed Matthew.

This time, she didn’t think of being fucked in handcuffs. She thought of hugging him. Being protected and nestled in his arms, hearing his humorless joke and his overprotective tendencies.

She thought of his eyes.

Silver gray and sometimes gold.

It was so beautiful, so unique, and attractive.

She could stare at those eyes forever.

And should she start thinking about his body?

No. She should not.

She really should not.

Instead, she should think about how he had been trying to protect her in secret. All this time, Ava had been protecting herself. She learned how to fight. She had killed people who wanted to harm her.

And now... someone was protecting her.

It actually felt nice.

And warm.

She would love to feel like this... for a long long time.

Sadly, witches have a shorter lifespan than most Lycans.

Ah... she should not think about that yet. She’s not going to die anytime soon... right?

.....

Matthew sat next to the sleeping Ava.

He had been staring at her for minutes or hours. Actually, he had lost count of the time. He had been like this since Baba and Shaman Gaas left.

And he was planning to do this until she opened her eyes.

"I miss you," he said. It was only a few hours. And her body was just next to his. But for some weird reason, he felt that she was not here. It was as if she was staying somewhere far and he could only helplessly stare at a shell.

Of course, he understood that things like this don’t make any sense. Maybe this is just because she was his mate?

"Sire?"It was Marko. He had gotten in after a few knocks. "I am here to report about the... aftermath."

"Go ahead," Matthew said.

"The building... was burned to the ground. The fire... was something that even firemen couldn’t kill. We already got some samples and took them to the lab."

"Tell me about the de Cene."

"Mr. Almeru de Cene and Aira de Cene landed in Russia a few hours back. The de Cene’s are silent about the fire. The other Lycan family thought it was an attack from witches. Clearly, someone is trying to hide the fact that you were the one who killed all those Hybrids."

"So... they made the bomb to hide the fact that they have now cooperated with Hybrids." And now, they don’t have evidence against the de Cene family. He gritted his teeth. He wanted to kill them. He wanted to kill every one of them!

"Hey... you look like you are going to eat someone."

Matthew froze when he heard Ava’s voice.

"If you want to eat someone... I was hoping... to volunteer as tribute," Ava added.
