Chapter 127: Trillium’s Dog

Ava was all smiles as she accepted another glass of wine from Matthew. She wasn’t drunk from the alcohol but she felt like she was drunk from all the emotions that she experienced when she used her ability to get back at the de Cene family.

Was that even possible?

Was this because she was some sort of an arsonxst that enjoyed burning things?

The answer was no.

It was revenge.

The thought of the de Cene family wondering who did it to them was enough to make her laugh.

"That should be enough to occupy them for a while." The best way to fight against an enemy that is more powerful than you is... well... none.

It is better to use your brain and wait for that enemy to tire itself out by letting it fight other people.

Then you reap the benefits.

It was that simple.

"Four fires in less than three hours..." Ava said when Matthew didn’t answer her. Unlike Ava, Matthew was reading some reports that Marko handed them the moment they walked in. He wasn’t too happy about what was written on the reports so Ava didn’t really mind talking to herself.

She just wanted to pat herself on the back. There was nothing wrong with that.

She thought of teleporting and what it made her feel. For some reason, it made her feel empowered and definitely stronger. She couldn’t help but wonder if this was because of the other dimension that she visited. Ah, speaking of dimension, she needed to talk to Shaman Gaas about it.

"By the way... where is the Shaman?" she asked.

"Ah... I have to ask Baba about that."

"No need. I will ask her myself."

"Are you sure? You haven’t had any sleep.." ƒrēewebnovel.com

"Matthew... you were with me all this time. Meaning, you didn’t have an iota of sleep either. You should take a quick nap before you start working again." By now, the sun was already up. It was nine in the morning and the two of them hadn’t had sleep last night as they spent it... wreaking havoc in Europe.

"I have a meeting coming up in an hour," Matthew said. "Do you want to join me for breakfast?"

"No. I am going to talk to Shaman Gaas then I will sleep." She got up but before she could leave the room, she turned and looked at him. "Do you want to join me... in bed?"

Matthew smirked. "I wish I could. Except... I need to show my face in public."

"An alibi." Ava snorted. "Alright Sherlock, I am talking to Baba." Ava paused for a few seconds. Then she walked towards Matthew, leaned down and casually placed a chaste kiss on his lips. Then she immediately turned around and left the room.

Of course, she was wondering about Matthew’s reaction. But she was too scared and maybe even too nervous to see. What if he had nothing on his face? Or what if he was smiling? Or confused? That would be worse, isn’t it?

A confused Matthew means, he didn’t know why she kissed him when she was only going to the next room.

Ava shook her head. She didn’t even know she was already smiling until she saw her reflection on one of the portraits that lined the hallway of the second floor of this mansion.

After a while, she arrived at Baba’s room.

"Come in," Baba said.

She complied.

The first thing that she saw was an elegant room of black and gold. It looked... it didn’t look modern. In fact, it almost looked like she had walked into ancient Europe.

"Wow..."

Of course, Ava knew Baba used magick to rearrange this room. Oh... How she wished she had that much control of her very own magick.

"Stop standing there young lady and join me for tea," Baba was sitting in the sitting area of this large suite room. The sitting area is the first one that you see once you enter the room. The beautifully crafted table and wooden chairs attracted Ava’s attention.

"This is beautiful."

"Shaman Gaas said it was too elegant, it doesn’t suit me."

"He was wrong."

Baba snorted. "More like ignorant."

"May I know where the Shaman is? I was informed that he didn’t want to pick a room and prefer teleporting in and out so— "

"Ah... the old man wanted privacy," Baba said after taking a sip of her tea. "What an old fashioned ignorant fellow."

"So where is he?" Ava asked.

"Depends."

"What?"

"I will tell you If you tell me what happened in Spain."

"Oh... I thought Matthew told you?"

"That man... is as secretive as an Eagle."

"Eagles don’t speak."

"Exactly," Baba smirked. She put her teacup on the table. "So?"

"Well... I thought it was only fair that I did that. They burned an airport and kidnapped my nephew so I burned their properties."

"I heard the damages were worth Billions."

"It’s not enough to compensate for what they did to me."

"Agreed. But no one died, no? Why didn’t you kill anyone?"

Ava blinked, speechless.

"What? It’s not like this is your first rodeo."

"I didn’t want to kill innocent people," Ava explained. She took a seat and poured herself her own tea.

"One of these days, I would teach you how to properly pour tea like a good young lady."

Ava snorted at that. Good? Which part of her was good?

"So... you didn’t want to hurt the innocents. Interesting."

"Why?" Ava asked.

"I was able to get your files from trillium."

"What?" Ava stared at her in disbelief. "Why would you do that?"

"I just wanted to get to know you better." The woman smiled at her.

"I didn’t tell Matthew because— "

"Please young lady. Do you really think that Matthew would care about something like that?"

"You mean..."

"You could be massacring people and Matthew would be behind you burying their bodies." Baba smiled. "Do you understand what I’m talking about?"

Ava sighed. "I do." She met the older woman’s eyes. "What do you want to know about my files?"

"Well..." Baba smiled. "Let’s start with the simplest question. Why did you agree to become Trillium’s dog?"
