The Lycans enslaved witches.
This was just one of the many reasons why witches should hate Lycans. When the witches tried to revolt, the Lycans haunted them and slaughtered them like goats. Until now, witches had been suppressed by Lycans. So why would a witch want to be with a Lycan? The thought was simply too much to digest!
"Did you have to tell her that?" Lucille asked Kenji just as their car started moving away from the Logging company.
"Tell her what?"
"Those words... you know how villains always tell the protagonist the truth in the final face-off? Then they end up dead?"
"Did it sound like that?" Kenji eyed the woman sitting next to him. Lucille had been his secretary for more than ten years. They had worked together on the most controversial cases in the past and had developed so much trust towards each other.
"It did."
"She’s not going away, anyway," Kenji smirked. The thing was, Gabriella made a deal with him. As long as Ava remained innocent of Trillium, they were not allowed to kill her. He was bound by a witch’s oath. Something that Gabriella forced on him when they made the promise.
Ignorance made Ava safe from him. But that was no longer the case now.
After all that, Ava was no longer considered ignorant about the truth. But what did Gabriella expect? The woman was too confident that Ava wouldn’t go inside Trillium and talk to Kenji. At that time, Gabriella thought that Ava was just nothing but a small fly who was trying to survive.
And since Kenji had no interest in doing something pointless, he agreed. Ava didn’t know a thing about Trillium and the experiments. But that changed... a couple of minutes ago.
"You just told our people not to hurt her."
"And?" Kenji smiled.
"You— "
"Accidents happen."
"What about the Lycan?" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"What about him?" Kenji smiled.
"He is currently in the facility... attracting everyone’s attention."
Kenji only smirked. "Isn’t it fun?" When Lucille didn’t answer him, he continued. "We were looking for ways to declare a war against them and here they are... blatantly showing themselves. They came to our doors intending to hurt us. Who are we to say no and run away?"
The plan was simple.
They were going to use Matthew to declare war against the Lycans. With the already turbulent waters inside the Lycan Kingdom, hitting the Lycan Royals from the back was as easy as one, two, three.
From there, everything would become even easier.
"The Hybrids..." Kenji uttered. "Are they ready?" he asked.
"Yes, sir."
"Alright... you can release them at my signal."
"I understand." Lucille nodded.
"Oh! And make sure to focus the cameras on them. Make it look like it was Matthew who brought them to threaten us... for a damn witch." How absurd. How could a Lycan do something like this for a damn witch?
Lycans and witches couldn’t even fall in love.
He couldn’t believe that a Lycan Prince— the one that would inherit the throne— was this dumb! How could he fall for a witch? Was it the sex?
Kenji snorted.
Who would have thought that after all these years, they would find one weakness, one small flaw that they could implore to use against the Lycan prince?
Wasn’t this exciting?
"Call Caro..." he said.
Almost immediately, Lucille dialed Leonardo Caro’s number.
"Caro," Kenji said. "Is everything ready on your end?"
"Yes sir."
"Alright... I want you to release the news to the Lycans on my signal."
"Yes sir."
"Good. Everything is happening according to our plan. Just as expected, the Lycans came."
"As always, you are a genius at planning sir."
"Of course," Kenji snorted before he ended the call. "Alright... let’s start the game."
.....
"Tsk. Did the Lycans really have to come?" Karena muttered. She was currently sitting outside of the cell where they placed Ava. "To be honest, I was surprised that you were able to fool the Lycan into pitying you. Tell me, how did you seduce such a man?"
"Why are you here, Karena?" On the other hand, Ava was calmly lying down against the cold concrete floor. Her eyes were closed as she rested her head on her palm. Her posture was languid, lazy even.
She was currently inside a really tiny cell that only has a sink and a toilet. No mat, no bed. And just enough space for her to straighten her legs. If someone like Matthew would be in here, it would be very hard for them to sleep because of the tiny space.
"To guard you."
"Oh?" Ava snorted. "So you don’t know what they are going to do?"
"What?"
"I guess you aren’t that big of a deal after all."
"What did you say?"
"I always thought you were close with the Deputy. I guess I was wrong huh."
"If you are trying to plant some seeds of doubt— "
"Seeds of doubt?" Ava interrupted her. "I don’t need to do that. You aren’t dumb. You already know that they didn’t include you in the planning. And now, they are going to throw you away like a dirty rug. Oh wait... maybe that’s what you are."
"Shut up!"
"Or what? You are going to torture me? Your boss is scared of the Lycans..."
"He isn’t scared of anyone."
"Why are you protecting the man who abandoned you, anyway?" Ava finally looked at Karena. "Is he that good in bed?"
"What? How dare you insult the Deputy?"
"So... he wasn’t that good. I understand."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Oh... maybe he is just really good at seducing younger women. Then he discards them afterward. To be honest, I can’t blame him. You are a little pretty."
"I said shut the fuck up!"
"Did I hit a nerve?"
"If you wanted to — "
"Pfft..."
"You— " Karena’s eyes narrowed. "It looks like you really want a beating!" She cracked her knuckle as she got up. "Bitch."
Without wasting any more time, Karena opened the cell and went inside. "Did you think this cell is the same as your previous one?" She didn’t hesitate to kick Ava. Of course, Ava easily avoided her foot as she rolled to her side and got up.
"You want to fight me?" Ava asked. "A helpless witch who is caged inside an iron cell?"
"Fight?" Karena snorted. "Who said anything about fighting?"
With that, Karena spun on her left foot trying to kick her jaw. Everyone in Trillium was trained in hand-to-hand combat so it was not really surprising that the woman was good at fighting.
Ava ducked, avoiding another fist. Her senses heightened, her blood humming with anticipation.
Fighting against another person won’t be easy. Especially without her magick.
"BANG!"
Ava grunted when Karena actually hit her stomach. She maneuvered to her left and leaned against the concrete wall to find her balance.
The woman could throw a punch!
Ava knew she had hit Karena too. But the woman was relentless with her punches and kicks.
Karena was already stronger than her because she was a shifter. The fact that Ava couldn’t use her magick was another problem.
"You bitch— " Ava hissed as she launched towards the woman. Since Karena wanted a fight. She was going to give her that fight.
Ava easily tackled Karena and attempted to throw Karena to the floor. However, the cell was too small. Instead of throwing her to the floor, Ava twisted Karena’s arm and pushed her face towards the iron against the bars.
"Ugh!"
Taking advantage of the situation, Ava immediately applied a choke lock.
"What the fuck— Let go of my hair! Fuck!"
Let go?
How funny!
Instead of letting go, she bit a huge chunk of the woman’s hair as she snorted inwardly.
She was going to bite the woman’s hair off!
