Chapter 177: A Great Team

"That was a brilliant plan." Jude was beaming at her as they watch Kenji from the other side of the two-way mirror.

It was funny how Ava was sitting there a few hours ago. The situation changed.

Now, the one wearing handcuffs and an electronic leg brace that would stop him from using his abilities was the Deputy.

"The Executive Director is already on his way along with the Director."

"I guess we succeeded, huh."

Jude sighed.

"You don’t look too happy?" Ava asked. "Was it that hard to put your own father in prison?"

Jude shrugged, but he said nothing.

Seeing this, Ava faked a smile.

"Betrayal... is hard to accept. Especially if it came from your family members." Ava said.

"How did you escape that explosion?" Jude changed the topic.

"I won’t tell you." Ava thought about her fight with Karena. In the end, both of them were weakened. After all, Karena’s shifter abilities are still there. Meanwhile, Ava’s magick was limited because of the surrounding iron.

"I heard that everyone in the logging company died," Jude continued.

"Yeah," she shrugged in response. "I guess Kenji really wanted to kill everyone as a sacrifice. It was unfortunate." Who would have thought that Kenji Moore would try to sacrifice everyone in the Logging company to frame Matthew and Ava?

According to the email that Jude confiscated, Matthew used some sort of black magick to force Ava to use a spell that caused the explosion. It was said that the black magick was activated because Ava wanted to tell them about the Hybrids from Matthew’s experiments.

After the explosion, Matthew showed up with the Hybrids and tried to attack the facility.

Anyone who heard the story would think that Matthew is very dumb. Why would he show up in the facility just to save someone like Ava? The black magick story was enough proof that Matthew didn’t trust Ava!

So, why save someone you don’t even trust?

To stop people from asking more questions, Kenji immediately said that Matthew wanted to show his power. The fact that Matthew had the guts to threaten Trillium meant he wasn’t scared of them. Then he started telling everyone that Matthew might be after Trillium. No. It wasn’t just Matthew but the whole Lycan community.

After all, Matthew is the next Lycan King.

Can you believe such a story?

Of course not!

However, the words that the man used were enough to rile up people who already hated the Lycans. It was like a trigger that would cause a revolution against the Lycans. In short, no matter how illogical it was, the people who already hate the Lycans are going to believe it!

The man wanted the whole Shifter and witch community to declare war against the Lycans!

"You know that this isn’t the end of it, right?" Jude asked. "I discovered that the Elders have been working with people abroad."

"Other countries are involved," Ava stated. That was already expected. They didn’t even know how long this experimentation had been going on!

"Yes. Russia and maybe China, as well as some tribes in India."

Ava nodded.

"The Deputy isn’t even their real leader."

"I expected as much," Ava said. How could the real leader of this whole operation reveal himself?

"Ah... I also have some good news."

"Finally," Ava chuckled. "Some good news."

"Samuel is coming back."

That made Ava silent.

"You don’t look happy?"

Ava shrugged in response. She hadn’t told anyone about what the Deputy told her. This was because she couldn’t really confirm it. While the Deputy’s words made sense, Ava wouldn’t just jump to a conclusion and believe everything. She needed to talk to Samuel.

She lowered her gaze as she thought about the questions that she was going to ask him.

Hi Samuel, is it true that I was only adopted by Gabriella so you guys could experiment on me?

Hi Samuel, did you know what they did to my brother?

So many questions, so little time.

"Samuel will start working in the main office," Jude said.

"Oh..." Great. That is actually a piece of great news, right?

"Once the Deputy would give us the rest of the names of the people who participated in this operation, we will overhaul the whole North American Office and select new officers."

Ava nodded. "So, you are going to become the new deputy?"

"We don’t know." Jude smiled.

This was Jude’s dream. The man even dared to betray his family, to get this position.

"What about your family?"

"The Caro family started rotting before I was born," Jude said. "They can’t really blame me for uprooting all the rotten roots, right?"

"Are you going to be alright?" she asked.

"I should I asked you the same." Jude looked at her face and then towards her clothes. "Healing magick?"

Ava chuckled. "Just a little..."

"Didn’t know you could do that... Ah, by the way... Are you the one responsible for teleporting me and the others earlier?" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"Oh... that?" The Shaman did that. But she couldn’t really tell him the truth. "Yeah. It was a little trick that I learned lately."

"It seems that you have been training?"

"Yes."

"That would be useful."

"I know."

"Especially when you start working for Trillium. Being an— "

"Sorry?"

"Oh? I forgot to tell you. They are going to welcome you back. No strings attached this time."

Ava was speechless. "The Deputy Director said that?"

"Yes. Isn’t it better to watch Trillium from the inside? The Deputy Director knew that Kenji wasn’t the only rotten one. But the lack of proof is stopping us from arresting the rest. We need the man to tell us his accomplices. Before that, it would be helpful to have someone like you inside Trillium."

Ava said nothing. She thought of Matthew and what she did to him. Right now, working for Trillium isn’t exactly the best thing that she could do.

Her heart skipped a beat.

"You alright?" Jude asked.

"Yeah."

"Good. So... what do you think? Would you like to work with me again? I mean, no offense, but we actually make a great team, right?"
