Chapter 178: Reckless and Arrogant

Ava thought about the things that had happened since she met Matthew. She shook her head. "No." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"No?"

"I don’t think I am going to work for Trillium anymore."

"What? But I am going to become the Deputy and I was planning to— "

"No need." Ava faked a smile. "I want to go somewhere..."

"What about the rest of the Deputies group? I mean, his accomplices? This is just the start of our plans."

"You have to do that on your own."

"Tsk. That’s too bad. You would have been a great addition to the team."

"What happened to the elders?" Ava changed the topic.

"Well, they are going to be evaluated. Once the Deputy confesses, we are going to detain them as well. For now, the elders temporarily lost their influence inside the court of Trillium."

"Even the shifters?"

"Yes. Even the shifters. The video that I provided that showed the Hybrids defending Romeo Mclary was enough to nail down Amore. Of course, this doesn’t mean that she is really going down. There has been no warrant of arrest so, she can still roam around freely. However, just like all elders, she could no longer use the resources of Trillium and all of her properties will be thoroughly checked."

"That’s enough."

"I heard Amore was still busy looking for someone that could identify dream walkers. Now, rumor has it that Romeo had been in a coma and his soul was stuck in another realm. That’s why Amore wanted the help of a dream walker."

"How is that even possible?" Ava snorted.

"I know. I told her it would be impossible to find one these days. If they really exist, I am sure that Trillium would have captured them or befriended them so they could study dream walking."

"What do you know about dream walking, anyway? I thought those people are legends?"

"Nothing much. I’ve read the books and I know they don’t exist. I mean... do you really think that people would walk into other realms that exist? If they do... they would be treated as gods, no?"

Ava nodded. ’Gods my ass,’ she thought inwardly. If only she could control her abilities better.

"So... you aren’t really planning to stay?" As expected, the man was relentless.

"No."

"Then the deputy and the rest?"

"You take care of them... Deputy."

Jude smirked at that.

Right now, the only ones who were detained were the people who directly worked under the deputy of operations, like the deputy assistant Mr. Leonardo Caro and Lucille. Even Mike Waterston and Mr. Miles will be investigated. Right now, they are currently held somewhere waiting for the investigation to be completed.

Jude stared at her side profile. "Will I see you again?"

"Of course," Ava answered. "You owe me. I will come and collect very soon."

"Owe what?"

Ava only responded with a smirk. Then she walked out of the room.

Walking out of the facility, Ava eyed the sky. The sun was already up. It was nine in the morning and the Director should arrive anytime soon.

However, Ava had no time to spare.

She walked towards the fog a few meters away.

"What took you so long?" Shaman Gaas asked. As usual, the old man looked grumpy. Was he angry that he had to use his magick to teleport Jude?

That wouldn’t make any sense, would it?

"Trillium wanted me back," she said. No matter what. She owed the old man for his help.

"And?"

"I declined."

"As expected."

"I can’t work them anymore." She looked back, but the view of the facility had been covered with thick fog.

"Good choice."

"Other influential people are working with them," Ava said. "From all over the world."

"I expected as much."

The two of them started walking.

"So, if you knew that there were others out there, why aren’t you working with Trillium to hunt them?"

"I can’t. I have more important matters to attend to."

The old man put both of his hands behind his back.

"I am planning to go to Scotland with Matthew."

That made the old man stop walking. He looked at her.

"You are not strong enough."

"After today’s incident— "

"Again, you are not strong enough." The Shaman interrupted her. "You are reckless and arrogant. You aren’t that smart, either. You like to fight and think that you can solve everything with your fist and magick. That kind of thinking — the Lycans and witches will kill you."

"Shaman..."

"My words might hurt but it is the truth."

"I — "Ava clenched her teeth. She couldn’t say a word simply because the Shaman was telling the truth. She had been too arrogant.

"There is a thin line between confidence and arrogance and you always managed to cross that line."

She let out a sigh.

"You are the mate of the next Lycan King. Once the world knows — they will not forgive you." Shaman Gaas said. "This time, I want you to come with me."

"Where?"

"I will train you."

"What about Baba?"

"She had her own business to attend to."

"Then Matthew?"

When the Shaman didn’t answer her, Ava frowned. Her heart started to race against her chest. She couldn’t read the Shaman’s emotions, but something about his expression was weird.

"Where is he?" she asked, her lips trembling. "Did he — " Before he could teleport, the Shaman touched her shoulder.

"Calm down..."

Ava gulped. Right. She panicked.

The Shaman’s expression scared her.

"I— "

"This is why you need more time to train yourself. Your emotions are too... weak. Your ego is too fragile and you couldn’t control your anger. I don’t think you would last a week in Scotland if you act like this."

"I’m sorry." She bit her lower lip.

"I am not blaming you. For someone who hasn’t really learned control, you are lucky to survive. You are lucky that you are alive."

"It’s not luck." Ava gulped. She quickly summarized what Kenji told her about Gabriella.

"So they are adopting orphan kids..." Shaman Gaas sighed. "This world... is indeed very cruel."

Ava clenched her jaw.

"Well... it is best that we leave this place as soon as possible. Some troublesome people are walking towards us."

Before Ava could ask who it was, the Shaman touched her shoulder and the next thing she knew, she was already back in the mansion.
