Chapter 179: Magick Circle - End of Volume 3

Silence is just the absence of sound.

At least that’s what Ava always thought in the past.

But the silence before her was different from the one she was familiar with.

It was unmistakable, and it pierced through her very being as she continued standing by the window. Her heart was calm, yet she could not hide the sadness in her eyes. Strangely, the room felt larger now. Yet, it was more suffocating, intimidating.

She wouldn’t want to stay in this room for too long.

The silence was painful.

It’s not just a reminder that she was now alone in their room. It was a reminder of her current circumstances — of their current unfortunate circumstances.

"Are you ready?"

Ava heard Shaman Gaas’s voice behind her. She nodded without turning around.

"Matthew and Baba already arrived in Scotland."

Again, Ava nodded without saying a word.

That’s right. Matthew is no longer in Alaska. He left.

Without saying goodbye.

She thought of the conversation that they had at the facility. He promised to wait for her. Though he forgot to tell her he would be waiting for her in Scotland.

Does she really have the right to complain?

She rushed in her thinking that Matthew would be waiting for her. It turns out that Matthew left with Baba, only leaving a letter behind.

"I will wait for you," the letter said. "I promise."

Ava could only sigh after reading the letter. The reason Matthew had to go back was simple; he is going to claim the throne.

But can he really do that without marrying another woman? Without—

Her throat hurt.

She stopped herself from thinking about all those things before she starts crying.

Why the hell would she cry?

Isn’t this her fault?

She bit her lower lip, her hand balled into two tight fists.

There is only one conclusion to this current predicament; she needed to get stronger.

"No need to bring a lot of clothes." Shaman Gaas’s words brought her out of her stupor.

"Hey, this training— " Ava gulped, her eyes landed on the birds that were flying low. "Is it going to be difficult?" she asked.

"I don’t know how to answer that. If you are asking if it’s enough to kill you, then the answer is yes. A minor mistake could definitely kill you."

"Good."

"Any questions."

"How long are we staying there?" Ava understood why Matthew left without her. It was because he knew that she couldn’t control her magick yet. Both of them knew that right now, Ava is nothing but a burden.

The Shaman was right. free𝑤ebnovel.com

She was reckless and arrogant. She believes that most problems can be fixed by... fighting. But that needed to change.

"You can leave once you are ready."

"So, it could take years," Ava said. This time, the Shaman didn’t answer.

"Are you going to refuse?"

"No."

"Good."

Ava pursed her lips. Her heart felt heavy. And she missed Matthew’s warmth. But this isn’t the time to wallow in her guilt and sadness.

She turned and stared at the old man. For a moment, she held his gaze. "We should leave." She already took care of everything inside the mansion. That includes Phil and the unconscious Marylis. So far, Phil isn’t showing any signs of recovering his humanity.

However, Ava brought the hybrids from the facility and now, the other doctors working for Matthew have the material for experiments. There might be a way.

However, they also told her not to have high hopes. Of course, Ava already expected this. All she could do now was strengthen herself and come back stronger!

"Let’s go?" Ava said.

The Shaman nodded and Ava picked a duffel bag that contained most of her clothes. Then he led her towards Matthew’s office, where a magick circle had been carved on the floor.

"This is my first time seeing one," Ava said. A magick circle was required if one needed to teleport to far places. For instance, one would need a circle like that if they are going to teleport halfway around the world.

There is, of course, another way that is more exhausting and that is teleporting over and over again until one reached their destination. This method was what Ava used when she teleported to Spain and burned the de Cene Family’s orchard.

"Where are we going anyway?" she asked. Are they going to China? India? Why would they need such a large magick circle?

"The circle will disappear after we use it." Shaman Gaas said. "For now, I want you to close your eyes. This is your first time, so it might make you dizzy."

Dizzy?

Ava lifted her eyebrow.

She had never felt dizzy after teleporting. The only time she felt like that was when she exhaust the magick inside her veins. Aside from that, simple teleportation shouldn’t make her feel any dizzy.

Right?

Well, that might be wrong.

The next thing that Ava knew, her head felt like it was going to burst. Her body felt like it hit something hard after spinning for so long.

"We are here..." Shaman Gaas’s voice echoed inside her head. "Open your eyes."

She complied.

Almost immediately, her face paled, her expression morphing from one of pain to shock.

"This place..." Reeked of blood. The smell of blood was thick. She was currently standing on the road just across a house that looked like a damn haunted house! She looked down and stared at the cobblestone. "This — Did we travel back on time?" she asked.

"Hopefully not," the old man was already walking towards the dark house. "Follow me?"

Ava nodded, her footsteps echoed against the cobblestone. For some reason, she felt like she was in a different timeline. The house, the road, and even the lamps looked like they were in Europe in the 1800s.

She chuckled at her silly notion.

She followed the Shaman inside the two-story house and waited for him to open the door using a key.

The moment she walked inside the house, the smell of blood disappeared. Shaman Gaas snapped his finger and almost immediately, candles lit up the whole place.

"Uh..." Candles? She looked at the Shaman. "Where exactly are we?"
