Chapter 191: Astral Projection

**BANG**

"What— "

"Something happened!" Ava barged inside the Shaman’s office. "I was trying to practice what you taught me and I somehow... I think I just went to Scotland!"

The old man calmly closed the book that he was reading. "Astral projection. How long?"

"I— Astral projection?"

"How long did it take you to enter into the astral plane?"

"I don’t know— hours? I think two hours. I lost track of time."

"That was quick. For a first timer."

"Astral projection is a spell. Isn’t it?"

"It is a part of the forbidden spell that could cost the caster their life. But dream walkers don’t have those limitations. We can freely roam around the astral plane. To make you that you were safe in that facility, I did astral projection and communicated through your dreams. That’s why you heard me but you weren’t able to respond. It was because I wasn’t simply dream walking. I was in the astral plane and since you couldn’t do astral projection, you couldn’t respond."

"Astral projection? But— Matthew sleeping. I mean he woke up. Does that mean, you were there watching me when I was in that place too?"

"Yes."

Ava took a seat before letting out a sigh of relief. "So it wasn’t anything abnormal."

"Not for us. But for normal witches, what you did could have killed them."

"Why is that?" she asked.

"An astral plane is the world between ours and the dead. A normal witch who would astral project doesn’t really belong in the astral world and the astral guardians could sense them. They would do everything to capture the witch’s soul and drag them inside the realm of the dead. Thus, killing their physical body."

"So, it is one of the forbidden spells?"

"Yes. It’s not only forbidden. It is considered one of the most difficult spells. Not many witches can do that as their bodies would be physically vulnerable to other forces. Moreover, it is not worth it. Astral projection is going to take a toll on the witch’s body."

"How?" freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Sometimes, some powerful souls would get into the physical body of the witch leaving the witch without any physical body and thus making it easier for the guardians to capture them."

"So... what happens if another soul occupies the body?"

"What happens?" the Shaman asked in disbelief. "Then the soul would live inside that body. This brings me to what you did to Romeo Mclary."

"What?"

"A physical body without a soul. That’s what he is."

"So...."

"There is a possibility that another soul would occupy his physical body."

"But— Where is his soul?"

"I wouldn’t know that. You were the one who imprison his soul somewhere."

"I didn’t."

"At least you unintentionally did it. That’s unfortunate for him."

"You know that Amore is looking for a dream walker, right?" Ava asked.

"She won’t find anyone." The Shaman turned his attention toward the book.

"Why is that?"

"Dream walkers are very special people. As soon as they learn how to travel into another realm, they often explore and leave for years."

Ava stayed quiet. The old man mentioned that dream walking is hereditary. There is a possibility that her mother might be a dream walker. So, was there a possibility that her mother isn’t from this realm? What if she only came here to give birth to her and hide her?

Such a notion made her laugh.

Why was she trying to comfort herself?

She’s just creating scenarios inside her head. Scenes that might hurt her later.

But that assumption wasn’t entirely impossible, right?

"So traveling into another realm.... Means moving our physical bodies as well, right?" That might be the reason why the old man wanted her to move her whole body while she was sleeping.

"Right."

"And is that— "

"I will teach you how to travel into a different realm after you get out of the Pits."

"Why?"

"Because you need to be strong enough to survive before you even start thinking about other realms."

"And why is that?"

"There are billions of realms, Ava." The old man looked at her before he waved his hand and a book from the large bookshelf behind flew towards Ava. "We have recorded at least fifty. There are only thirteen that are safe. The others are occupied with monsters and unlivable environments. Some are simply too dangerous for a witch without a power to survive while some... are worlds that would kill any witch in sight."

Ava opened the book and started reading.

"To be able to survive you have to become at least... half as powerful as I."

Ava pursed her lips.

"I thought realms are like a mirror of our world," Ava said.

"It is. But the laws of their world are much different than ours. Some of these worlds have magicians. Some have dragons and elves and mermaids. While some are just occupied by orcs. And some... are worlds that do not support magick."

"What?"

"I am merely guessing about the last part. The cosmos is a mysterious place. A world like that must have existed somewhere, no?"

"That— is highly likely." And If a world like that exists then a witch who accidentally visited that place would lose their ability to perform magick. Meaning, that they wouldn’t be able to go back.

"So you saw Matthew," the old man said. "Tell me about it."

"He is in a very similar room but it was bigger. And he is talking to the Queen and a woman from the Timothy Family."

"Ah, one of the noble families."

"I’ve heard about their different hierarchy in the past but Trillium didn’t have a list of the noble family," Ava said.

"I presume, they wanted him to marry that woman?"

"Yes."

"And how did that make you feel?"

"I— I accidentally knock a frame." Ava smiled. "But it was only because I was leaning on it."

Her words only made the old man laugh.

She bit her lower lip, she knew her face is already turning red from the embarrassment. To be honest she didn’t want to appear jealous and emotional and—

"That is normal," the old man said. "You are mates... after all."
