Chapter 196: Spill it!

"Stop this," Alex’s voice boomed inside the hall. "Eve... I know you can hear me. Stop this! Now!"

"Stop what?" A woman’s cold voice echoed in response. Then a woman that they didn’t recognize appeared next to Lord Welton’s chair. She had long, burgundy hair that looked as brilliant as her scarlet lips. She looked at the lascivious act in front of her before she lifted her gaze toward Damon’s group.

"Eve, you don’t understand. Lord Welton is— "

"Oh, I perfectly understand." The woman leaned against the majestic chair. "I understand everything."

"Stop this," Damon West said. His voice was calm, yet he wasn’t able to hide his troubled gaze.

"Alright," Ava who was still wearing Rossana’s face, nodded. She clapped her hands and everyone fell to the ground. All of them looked peacefully like they were sleeping.

"Let’s leave," Damon said. "Before they wake up and kill us." This time, he turned his head away and walked out of the hall.

The five of them followed him towards his room.

....

"Leave us," Damon said.

"But she’s— "

"Now!"

Hearing the urgency in Damon’s voice, the others turned serious. They looked at Rossana but forced themselves to leave the room just to avoid more conflict.

"What was that?" Damon asked when it was just the two of them.

"What was what?" Ava roamed her gaze around the room. It wasn’t particularly luxurious, but it was large. There was a small table for dining, a small living room facing a beautiful fireplace, and a large king-sized bed with a canopy. Not bad, she thought.

"Why did you have to do that, Eve?"

Ava took a step back when she noticed the man approaching her. She narrowed her eyes. "You mean... save myself from people who wanted to hurt me?"

"You knew very well that it’s not what I meant."

"I don’t understand what are you talking about."

"Why did you come with us?" Damon suddenly asked.

"To earn money?"

"Bullshit," Damon said. "Why would a talented witch like you come with us and ruin our plans? Did they send you?"

They? Ava pursed her lips as she wondered who was he talking about.

"Answer me!"

"I don’t know what you are talking about."

"You know what?" Damon snapped his finger. The surrounding candles died and a large magick circle appeared. It was just enough to cover the entire room. "Why are you here?"

"You can use magick?" Ava asked. "Demons can use magick?"

"Demons?" Damon asked. He suddenly appeared next to Ava, surprising her. Without waiting for another word, his hand wrapped around her neck. Then a sadistic smile appeared on his face. "I wonder... who told you that?"

Ava struggled to breathe."Ugh!" Was he going to kill her? No. If Damon wanted to kill her, then she would have sensed some bloodlust from the man. Moreover, he would have used a method that would surely kill a witch.

She tried to pry his fingers, but was unable to do so. The man was too strong.

Damnit!

"You see?’" Damon moved his face closer to hers. He smirked as he added," Without your vocal cords, you are useless." Damon said. "Should I just crush it?"

Ava narrowed her eyes. That sentence would be threatening to her if she... couldn’t perform magick without casting it.

Ava then held Damon’s wrist and slowly used force, which was enhanced by magick, to crush it. Seeing her abnormal strength, Damon tried to exert more force on her neck.

"Who are you... and why are you here?" Damon asked. "You — " His face turned sour when he realized that Ava’s hand was only getting stronger and stronger. Before he knew it, he was already lifting Ava into the air and throwing her against the wall. He had to do it before Ava crushed his wrist!

"Wow... you are strong," Ava said. Her body didn’t hit the wall. Instead, she floated a few inches from the floor.

"You can still use magick, even with the circle?"

Ava shrugged.

Her reaction only angered the man.

"So they did send you," Damon said. "I was right."

"I don’t know what you are talking about." Ava slowly massaged her neck. "The reason why you are still alive after what you did is that you didn’t intend to kill me in the first place." She said. Of course, she was lying. The reason Damon was still alive was that she could still use him.

"I came here to gain experience."

"Experience? Do you really think I am stupid?"

"Yes, and Yes."

"You — How can you use magick inside the circle?" He sounded totally surprised. freewёbnoνel.com

"I am not going to answer that. Though... I am more interested in this circle. A circle that could enable a witch’s power of nature useless. On it was another circle that could summon... fire. Something like this. It’s not a work of a witch. What are you?"

"That is none of your business," he hissed. "Who sent you?"

"See... this is the problem when people have too many enemies. They think that the world is out to kill them." Ava’s feet landed on the soft carpet. "Just so you know? I don’t give a damn about you. I am just here to fight and then leave."

"You think it would be easy?"

"You wouldn’t know that... would you? Unless, of course..." she gave him a mysterious smile. "I remember. They call you Lord Damon. So, you must have your own territory and trusted people inside, right?"

She started walking towards the inner part of the circle. And studied the symbols written on it. Though Ava didn’t have any experience in creating magick circles, the Shaman imparted to her some knowledge about it. She knew about those symbols and she could create a magick circle if she wanted to.

"So this is the reason why you survived. Though... I am wondering if the reason why some of your people died is that you sacrificed them like what happened earlier."

"In this world, dying is as easy as breathing air."

"Please Mr. West, don’t bore me with those words. You showed me the circle, but you didn’t have an iota of killing intent in you. Spill it. Tell me what you want."
