SHAMAN GAAS
Though Ava had long left the room, the Shaman could still her presence surrounding him.
The smell of his coffee still lingered in the air and remnants of their conversation earlier still haunted his head. He frowned as he stared at the now vacant space in front of him. Slowly, his expression turned grim.
Then his eyes landed on the large book that he showed her earlier.
It was about Demons and Daemons and other supernatural that existed in another realm.
On this Earth, there were no Demons and Daemons and Lich and Dragons. There were no Elves and Mermaids and other supernaturals. But this isn’t the same in the other realms— on the other Earth that existed in this cosmos.
Science would call this; multiple universes.
And Science is right.
The infinite cosmos has countless universes and all of them could support life. Though the laws of nature are different in each universe.
"But Demons?" he opened the page to the pages about Demons. He had suspicions that Ava might not be completely human but a spawn of someone supernatural. The mating thing gave it away. However, he never once thought that she is a Daemon.
The daughter of a demon and a human.
From the information that he had gathered over the years, he knew that Daemons don’t belong to the Earth. The Demon’s mate is someone that was born and raised in the Pits.
Aside from that, there was no other information about their parentage.
However, the Shaman is sure of one thing.
Daemons feed on anger and other emotions.
A Daemon’s magick is fueled by their emotion.
But a Daemon could feed on other people’s emotions too. They don’t just feed on anger, they feed on happiness and sadness, and guilt. Meaning, they are powerful as long as emotions exist around them.

The old man closed his eyes as he rummaged through his memories.
According to the old records, Daemons existed in this world but most of them didn’t even know they were one. They were creatures who love to play around with human emotions and then feed on them. But the thing is... some Daemons didn’t develop their magick.
It was believed that a Daemon’s magick is awakened during a tragedy. It might be cruel but a little Daemon needed a trigger to obtain their magick. A trigger can be a death of a family member or something really stressful like... almost dying.
In Ava’s case, her trigger was clearly the death of her father.
Her father died when she was seven, a very young age for a Daemon to have her abilities.
The thing is, Daemons are just like Demons. They tend to love chaos and blood and killing. In fact, the smell of blood would sometimes affect them.
Ava never mentioned anything like this. However, the Shaman recalled how Babaylan said Ava liked to kill and thus she was impure.
Babaylan that woman, dislike Ava simply because she wasn’t a hypocrite that would hide her actions behind ’logic’. Ava wasn’t a hero that would kill her loved one to save the world. She was a villain that would kill the world to save her loved one.
And Baba did not like that.
The Shaman sighed.
What would happen if Babaylan would discover that Ava is a Daemon— a creature made of malice?
The Shaman could only chuckle.
Ah, if only he could live a little longer. He would love to see that woman’s reaction.
Shaman Gaas opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling.
Daemons and Demons are considered Lycan’s mortal enemies. The ancient writings that he had read even said that a Lycan’s bite is poisonous to a Daemon.
But why is it that Ava didn’t die from Matthew’s bite?

"What is it?" Matthew clenched his jaw when he saw Baba walking toward him. The woman had a serious look on her face.
"You are coming with me," Baba said. Then she held Matthew’s shoulder and the two of them disappeared inside Matthew’s study.

The next thing he knew, he was already inside the large library where that large book was located.
Confused, Matthew looked at Baba. "Why are we here?"
"You should follow me," Baba said and started walking towards the center of the library where the prophecies were located.
"What is it this time?" he asked.
"You will see..."
Matthew pursed his lips and silently followed the older woman. The only reason why Baba dragged him here is because of the prophecies. There must be another one.
"Take a look," Baba gestured towards one of the rocks on the pulpit.
** The awakening of the child of malice and darkness shall usher the return of the dark heir **
"Dark heir?" Matthew looked at Baba. "What is that?"
"I wouldn’t know."
"So, why take me here?"
"The child of malice..."
"You think this is Ava?"
"Yes."
"And?"
"The awakening."
"So?" Matthew asked.
"Something must have happened."
"She’s fine. I can feel it."
"No." Baba shook her head, her expression only darkened. "You are not telling me something."
"I told you. Ava is fine. She’s with the Shaman and I trust her."
"Wolves would never do that."
"Do what?"
"You have been away for months and yet your wolf..."
"Baba... our case isn’t the same as..."
"Her mark disappeared after you marked her."
"Yes. As I said we are unique. There is— "
"You have to let me study her."
"I cannot let you do that."
"Matthew, it is important that I make sure she isn’t a child of malice and darkness."
"Why?" Matthew asked. "Would that change anything?"
"If she is then— "
"Baba... " Matthew stared at the woman for a few seconds before she said, "I don’t care. She could be the devil and I still won’t care. I only care about the fact that I— that she’s my mate."
"Foolish!"
"Am I?" Matthew asked.
"You don’t understand the words that you are saying."
"No." Matthew smiled. "Witches don’t have mates. I’m afraid it is you who doesn’t understand me."
