Ava used her shirt to wipe her lips.
She looked down at Josef. Damon already informed her in advance that this poison might not work, it might not even kill Josef. Damon got the poison on Earth. He paid a huge sum of money just to use it on Josef.
Looking at the painting, Ava frowned. She knew Josef was lying. The man thought those words could fool her. How irritating.
She stepped away from the painting and started rummaging around the room. The man hadn’t lost his consciousness yet but he could no longer move or say a word. This was just one effect of the poison. After gathering a few things, Ava looked at Josef one last time.
"Thanks for the potions," Ava said. She had gathered as many potions as she can. These will be very helpful once she goes to the Arena. However, just as she was about to teleport, Josef jolted up.
As expected, the poison only paralyzed the man.
Seeing her slowly vanish into thin air, Josef growled, his silver eyes turned red but before he could grab her, she already left the room.
The next thing that Ava knew, she was back in the room where Josef let her stay. The thing is, just like Josef, her ability had been weakened by whatever it was that they placed on the walls or the house. But this didn’t mean, she couldn’t teleport herself around.
She immediately teleported towards the stairs then towards the door and the gates.
"Eve!"
Ava heard Josef’s loud voice but she had no time to even look back as she disappeared once again. This time, Ava completely disappeared. ƒrēewebnovel.com
...
The moon silently hung in the sky. Surrounded by some stars, Ava couldn’t help but wonder if this world was actually just like Earth.
The Shaman told her this was another realm but... what if this is just another Earth in one of the universes in the cosmos?
The Shaman had mentioned that the cosmos is endless.
She put the thoughts out of her head as she let out a sigh. She had been lying on the branch of the tree. Using her hand as her pillow, she had been watching the stars for hours.
And now, her stomach was growling.
The thing is, she couldn’t just start any fire without attracting the attention of the soldiers marching around near the entrance of the Arena.
Ava wanted to go directly to the Arena but Damon already warned her in advance that the security around the arena had been tight since Josef made the ruckus about the prince. Josef must have anticipated that she or maybe even Damon’s people would try to run away.
Ava sighed.
She couldn’t help but wonder if Damon and the others are alright. Damon told her to do her own thing and that he could take care of himself. But that Josef was a lunatic. What if he would—
Ava pursed her lips.
In the end, she wasn’t able to find out the truth about Josef’s sudden interest in her. She knew it had something to do with the picture of her real face. Sadly, she had no idea how he got that picture.
Of course, she also had the option to stay but the kiss that Josef gave her made her uncomfortable. Being caught by a demon is going to be a problem. So, she decided to completely leave this place as fast as she can.
"Eve...."
Ava almost fell down the tree when she suddenly heard Josef’s words inside her head.
"What the fuck?" she got up and leaned against the bark of the tree. The voice was so clear, it felt like the man was standing next to her! What the hell was that? She asked herself as she continued to observe her surroundings.
"I know you can hear me," Josef said. "I am going to forgive you for what you did. But you have to come back to me."
Ava arched her eyebrow. How strange.
Clearly, she had tried to poison him by applying the poison to her lips. The poison showed some effects but in the end, she wasn’t able to kill him. And now, he is talking about... forgiving her?
Why?
The Josef from the rumor would immediately kill someone.
With this in mind, Ava retrieved a small map that she had. It would lead her toward the Arena. She is currently two miles away from that place. If she wanted to, she could easily teleport but since she didn’t know what this place looked like, she was scared, that she wouldn’t be able to do it right.
Teleportation is only good once she could picture the place in her head. This would work best if she had been to that place or she had seen an image of that place before. But... there were no photographs here. All she had was a map.
To travel safely, Ava had been teleporting five hundred to a kilometer since she left that place.
Obviously, it was very taxing.
And that was the reason why she had to rest earlier.
She clicked her tongue. She knew that demons could teleport too and they could do magick— powerful magick. But Damon gave her something that would stop a demon from detecting her. Damon specifically told her that this item was something that he acquired from Earth and that he had been using this for so long. The man gave her the item so she could use it when she escapes.
But that voice...
What the hell was that?
Was it possible that Josef already knew her location?
It wasn’t even twenty minutes since she stopped in this place.
Damnit!
"Eve. Thou art not going to testeth mine own patience!"
Josef’s voice... sounded like a growl, like the voice of a monster. It was deep and dangerous, something that gave her shivers.
"I— I am warning thee!"
What the hell? It wasn’t just the man’s voice that changed! It was also the way he spoke and his accent.
This is not good, Ava thought as she chose to teleport a kilometer away from where she was at. She needed to leave this place... as soon as possible!
