"That was quick," Lucas was still sitting in that black chair, the same smile embellished his face. He looked dashing and somewhat mysterious.
The sound of the fire crackling from afar caught Ava’s attention as she got up. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Staring at the man before her, Ava realized that aside from the coffee table was no longer in front of Lucas. Instead, a large table with various food can be seen.
"I was waiting for you. I wasn’t going to have my lunch if— "
"I am giving you the ring." Ava went straight to the point. There is no use in staying in this place. Keeping her memories is definitely more advantageous than bringing an unknown ring to Earth. She actually doesn’t need a lot of time to think about it. She already weighed the pros and cons of giving this ring.
First, she could have her memories which included the memories inside the ring. Second, she could actually use this to establish a connection with this mysterious man. A part of Ava knew that a connection like this might have its own advantages in the future. And third, she didn’t have to deal with whoever it was that was chasing after her.
She had killed Alexandra and now, she is going to leave this place.
"Hey... demons cannot walk on Earth unless they have a vessel, right?" Ava asked.
"Yes."
"How does one obtain a vessel?"
Lucas’s lips thinned. "There are various ways. But everything boils down to how strong a body is."
"Can a witch— "
"Physically." Lucas interrupted her. "Not only does the body need to be physically strong. One also needed to have a body that has magick. Demons cannot just possess a weak body. A demon would destroy a weak vessel." Lucas lifted an eyebrow. He tilted his head and smiled at her.
"You are scared that his legion would go after you?" he asked.
Ava deliberated for a few minutes. Then she nodded.
"I will take care of them. They won’t be able to leave this place alive. Unless of course, they find another dream walker that could open a portal for them. Sadly, dream walkers who could do that no longer exist in this plane."
Ava nodded. She wanted to ask the man about dream walkers but she didn’t want to make it too obvious.
"Then take the ring." Ava removed the ring from her finger and threw it at Lucas. "I want to leave this place as soon as possible."
"No need to rush. I want to make another deal with you." Lucas got up. Then he clapped his hand and the interior of the room changed.
"Huh?"
Ava’s eyes were so wide when she saw what was in front of her.
It was the space!
It was dark but she could see nebula and stars and in front of them was the Earth.
"We are in the cosmos," Lucas said.
Ava stared at him as she wondered about the man’s identity.
Was he some sort of a god?
How could someone be this powerful?
As if reading her mind, Lucas snorted.
"I am no God. This is nothing but an illusion."
"Oh," It was enough to fool her. How embarrassing.
"I thought it would be easier to explain everything while we are in here." Lucas held his hand towards her. A luminous line started forming on his palm.
"There were four well-known planes outside of Earth." Five circle’s appeared in front of Ava. "The Celestials, Spirit, Demonic and the Shadow Realms. Each of them has its own laws. Something that prevents them from crossing over to the human’s worlds."
Lucas continued. "They cannot interfere inside the human world. The pocket realms prevent that from happening."
"So each of these realms has a pocket realm like this Arena?"
"Yes."
"And it is preventing them from crossing over?"
"Yes."
"So... what would happen if someone destroys the pocket realm?" Ava asked.
"Then... they would be able to interfere in your world. And once that happens... the other realms would not let it go. They would do everything to stop each other thus... " Lucas closed his palm and the lines vanished. "There can only be chaos."
"So?"
"Some of your kind had been doing something that is slowly changing the rules inside your world," Lucas uttered as he stared at Earth.
"Experiments."
"It seems that you are already aware of this?"
Ava nodded.
"To be honest, this doesn’t surprise me anymore. Humans are greedy and curious by nature. But some things must be stopped."
"Things like what?"
Lucas turned towards her.
"I wanted to make a deal with you," he said.
"What deal?"
"I want you to stop them... from creating the perfect vessel."
"A vessel? For what?"
"I cannot be sure. All I know is the fact that they have been trying to create a perfect vessel for someone with enormous power that could upset the balance of this world."
"That’s absurd. You said that the laws wouldn’t let them cross. The only way for the other realms to reach Earth is by destroying the pocket dimensions that acted as the entrance to Earth. Even if they make the perfect vessel— "
Lucas shook his head. "There is another way."
"And that is?" she asked.
"By making deals with the owner of the relics that they were able to smuggle using various ways."
"Relics?" Ava thought of the images of a stone with some sigils written on it. She had heard about relics before and she knew that some covens own one. They considered them treasures. Some of them claimed that the relics gave them special abilities.
"You find them... and then you destroy them."
"Hold on... " Ava sighed. "What happens if I can’t destroy them?" she asked.
"Once a human absorbs a sigil then whoever it was who owns the sigil would have access into their physical body. This would give them strength and endless power but in return, the owner of the sigil would crush their soul and occupy their body."
"That— I have never heard of this before," Ava said. "I— I mean— " Those covens treated those relics as if they were sacred when they were actually this... dangerous?
"I do not have the specifics," Lucas uttered. "But you have to find them... and destroy them."
"What If I just destroy the vessels?" If the vessels can’t make deals with the owner of those relics and sigils then that should do it, right?
