"Hah!"
"Hah!"
Ava gasped as she jolted up. She looked at the grandfather’s clock not far away from her bed. She had slept for almost seven hours! She thought she couldn’t do it but she— she just projected and heard what the King said! freёwebnovel-com
What vessel?
And a fucking coronation?
She got up and walked towards the door but stopped when she thought about the Shaman’s words. Her smell could rile up Matthew and might make things worse!
However, this only made her terrified. Why are they targeting Baba? And what happened to Matthew?
After a few seconds of pacing back and forth, she finally decided to get out of the room and went to see the Shaman.
"I saw something."
"You are not supposed to get out of the room for a few more days."
"This is an emergency!" Ava said.
"What happened?"
"They wanted to kill Baba."
"Babaylan?"
"Yes. The Lycan King... he and another witch. I don’t know her name and her face was blurry but she— she felt powerful. I couldn’t see through her. They said that Baba’s sister is going to help them capture Baba and interrogate her about Matthew’s location."
The Shaman sighed.
"And you wanted to help Babaylan? Did you really think that they could easily kill that woman?"
"I don’t want to risk it," Ava said. "I don’t care about the smell of blood around me. I want to see Matthew."
The Shaman pursed his lips and closed the book that he was reading.
"Very well..." He got up and approached Ava. "You are his mate. You have all the right to know what is going on." He rested his right hand on her shoulder and the two of them vanished inside the Shaman’s office.
The next thing Ava knew, she was already in the middle of the desert. But this isn’t the end of it. She felt her body being squeezed by another strong pressure. She held her breath and this time closed her eyes.
After a few minutes of being unable to breathe properly, her feet finally felt something hard. She opened her eyes and was horrified to see that she and the Shaman were surrounded by large blocks of concrete. The small room was only enough for two people their size. If someone bigger than the Shaman or Ava would accompany the other, they would find it hard to fit in this place.
"Again," Shaman Gaas said. Again, she felt the air around her turn heavy. It didn’t take too long for them to arrive in another concrete box before doing the same thing over and over again.
"Thirteen..." The Shaman said. "Close your eyes, we should arrive soon."
Ava closed her eyes. These are considered security measures that were created by Baba. The boxes could only fit two people, meaning, you cannot really attack their hiding place if you are going to bring two or more people. There can only be two.
Ava had a hunch that Baba arranged this for her and the Shaman alone.
"Ava?"
Before Ava could open her eyes, she felt a warm hug enveloping her.
"Baba?"
Baba let her go and she realized that she was currently inside another room made of concrete. But this one was much bigger.
"How did you know we were coming?" Ava asked. Though Baba didn’t teach her anything, she still see her as a mentor.
"I sensed it the first time you used the room."
Ava nodded. Fair enough.
"You are here?" Baba asked the Shaman.
"I didn’t have the time to teach her how to get in this place." The Shaman said. "Which I might add is a little overboard."
Baba opened her mouth wanting to argue but Ava interrupted her.
"I want to see him."
"Ava..." Baba looked at her face then her eyes traveled down Ava’s neck and shoulders. Her body and her legs and finally her shoes. Not long after, she dragged her eyes back to Ava’s. "You— You are tainted with blood."
"I am well aware."
"It could provoke any beast."
"I know." Ava nodded.
"And yet you still came?"
"They are looking for Matthew."
Baba closed her mouth, her gaze turned colder.
"And they are not going to find him."
"They are going to use your sister."
"Lita would never work for the Lycans."
"Well, she decided that she will and she is going to call you and schedule a meeting then... they are going to capture you."
"That won’t happen."
Ava snorted. "You look so sure."
"If it would happen... I would have seen it."
"Future change," Ava uttered. "Before today, I wasn’t on Earth and now I am back. That must have triggered something. Some sort of reaction."Newton’s third law. Action and reaction.
The law also applies in nature.
Every action would have a reaction. It could be equal or opposite. But there will always be a reaction. This is the standard law of men and nature.
Hearing her words, Baba sighed.
"I understand. However, you cannot see him like that."
"Why not?"
"It might— "
"No." Ava shook her head. Her heart was already drumming in anticipation, her hands had become colder. She wanted to see him. She has to see him. "I am his mate and I am going to see him."
"Ava... I don’t think you understand."
"Understand what?"
"You have been gone for nine months. Matthew changed."
"Changed?"
"He— " Baba pursed her lips. "We should go to my rooms." She then led them inside the house with a tunnel-like feature. Ava immediately knew that this place had no electricity. Just like the one in the Mourning Pits.
"Take your seat. This is going to be a long... night."
Ava complied but soon started frowning.
"I couldn’t feel his wolf," she muttered.
"What did you say?"
"I said, I couldn’t feel Matthew’s wolf!" She should have known it. Even if she was inside the Mourning Pits, Ava could feel a connection with Matthew. She had concluded it was his wolf.
But the moment she came back from the Arena, that connection was no longer there.
She said nothing as she thought she was just tired but... now she knew.
She could no longer feel Matthew’s wolf along with the invisible connection that they have from the mating.
