"Are you certain you are going to have him crowned in the middle of all the problems that we have?" An older woman wearing a dark blue cape and long beautiful curls appeared next to Queen Luna. She looked at Margery who was enjoying her breakfast and sat opposite her.
"I don’t want you to regret things, Margery."
"This is the right thing to do, Priestess." Queen Luna uttered. "It has been months since Matthew left. No one could find him and Babaylan refused to cooperate. For all we know, the man is already dead or dying because of what happened."
Margery added, "There is no way that he would be able to find his mate in that state."
"I want everything to be perfect for you and Drigo," the woman spoke. She rested her hand on the circular wooden table and started drumming her fingers. The sound made by her long blood red nails caught Margery’s attention.
"I know. You don’t have to remind me."
"Your husband has been quiet since Matthew disappear. Have you had any decent conversation with him about this coronation?"
"He knew this is the right thing to do. The absence of Matthew caused chaos and even a civil war. We needed an heir to the throne to appease the council and the nobles. "
"But he doesn’t approve of Drigo."
"Without Matthew, Drigo is the one with the strongest bloodline. He already married a few women and has a few heirs of his own. Though he failed to kill the rest of his siblings because of the current problems that the kingdom is facing, we cannot deny the fact that is now the strongest heir. Not even the nobles can say no to this coronation."
"Then we shall proceed. I will do my best to make this coronation as safe as possible, however, I want you to send some people to the mourning pits. I want you to deal with that witch."
"Ava Woods?" Margery snorted. "She is a nobody. A new witch who never went to any school of witchcraft. There is no need for me to deal with her. People like her who immediately get attracted to power will soon perish. There is no need for me to intervene."
"You don’t understand." The man paused for a few seconds. "I want your people to follow her around. There is a possibility that she went inside the pits for a reason. Perhaps... a cure? She has survived the Arena. That means she is strong enough. Witches become stronger not just because of their knowledge Margery. They get stronger because of their experience too."
"Alright. I will take care of that," Margery lowered her head as she hid the scowl on her face.
"Then I will take care of the rest. I will make sure that your son will become the next King of this Kingdom."
"Thank you." Margery lifted her head up only to realize that the woman was no longer in front of her. She clicked her tongue and cursed inwardly.
"Ulva Bloodgood," she hissed. The most powerful witch inside this Kingdom had been showing her fangs slowly. The only reason why Margery was tolerating that woman was because of Drigo. Just like how Babaylan took care of Matthew, Ulva was also the one who took care of Drigo.
Margery knew that Ulva would do everything to keep Drigo safe.
Still, she hated the fact that a mere witch would dare order her like this!
Unbeknownst to her, Ulva was still watching her. Using an invisibility spell, not even the Queen could detect Ulva that was still sitting across from her.
After a few minutes, Ulva finally disappeared and appeared inside King Lycan’s office.
"How was it?" King Josiah Rowland Graydon asked without looking up from the documents in front of him.
"She will take care of it, your majesty." Contrary to Ulva’s behavior towards the Queen, she bowed toward the King and didn’t hesitate to kneel as she waited for him to tell her to get up.
"I am certain she is going to kill Ava Woods." The King uttered. "You already know what to do, yes?"
"Yes, your majesty."
"Good. I want Matthew back. He is the only one worthy to become my vessel."
Ulva said nothing.
"Alright, you may stand."
"Thank you, your majesty."
"Tell me about the updates." The King ordered.
"I believe your majesty’s words were right. There is a possibility that the one who instigated the war is Babaylan to attract our attention. She didn’t want us to find Matthew. Our people are still doing their best to find her and Matthew and we have been making some progress."
"Progress?"
"We have made deals with... Babaylan’s sister."
"A sister?"
"It took us a long time to find her family before she became the guardian. In fact, it was her sister Lita Murik who found us first."
"Murik?"
"Yes. Powerful witches from New Orleans. She agreed to make a deal with us."
"A deal, huh."
"Yes, your majesty. "
"Tell me about this deal?"
"She wanted us to capture her sister and— erase her from their lives."
"What a cruel woman."
"I believe there has been some jealousy involved but that was no longer my concern. All I know is the fact that she wanted to cooperate in luring Babaylan so we could capture her and asked her about Matthew’s location." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Good. I want you to deal with this before the coronation. Only Matthew can inherit that crown."
"I understand, your majesty."
"Oh and Ulva?"
The woman stared at the King.
"Do not hurt Babaylan too much."
"Your majesty?" Ulva asked, confused.
"Foresight. I want to have her foresight."
"Your majesty..."
"I am aware. I could never get it without her permission and breaking a witch like her would be very difficult. However, I am prepared to make a deal with her." The King smiled. Babaylan’s foresight for Matthew’s life.
Isn’t that a sweet deal?
Ulva stared at the King. Then she lowered her gaze and nodded.
"Your wish is my command, your majesty."
