King Josiah squinted but he said nothing.
"With all due respect your majesty, we think that his highness Matthew shouldn’t be king. He doesn’t have any interest in the throne. He refused to take another witch or marry another Lycan or procreate. We sincerely believe that only his highness Drigo is fit to be the next King."
"Are you saying that you are going to break the tradition that we have honored for the longest time?" Ulva asked.
"We are not here to talk about tradition. We are here to talk about our dwindling kind and our weakening bloodlines. Some of our children don’t have any wolves while some are born human without any ability of the Lycan. If we want to save our race, we need to make new changes."
"New changes? This... coming from someone who believed in witchcraft and prophecy?"
"The prophecy said that this day would come if we would not make any changes! I believe it is time that we change some things!"
"Are you trying to defy the orders of your King?" Ulva hissed. "How dare you!"
"Ulva enough," King Josiah uttered. "You may all leave. I will convene a meeting tomorrow morning."
"What about the event your highness?" Duke de Jomio asked.
"The event... shall happen if your reasoning would satisfy me," the King said. "Leave."
Seeing the King’s serious expression, everyone except Ulva left the room. The moment the last person closed the door, Ulva immediately cast a spell that shielded the entire room from prying eyes.

Ulva started banging her forehead towards the carpeted floor as she knelled in front of the King. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"Please spare my life! I didn’t— "
"Matthew is different," the King said, ignoring Ulva’s previous words. He looked at the still-open balcony and into the endless darkness of the night. Then a dangerous glint appeared in his eyes. "He knows something."
"What— what does your majesty mean?" Ulva asked.
"The Queen said he turned into a wolf," King Josiah continued. "And the only way for a Lycan to turn back is to find their mates. I never believed that woman’s words. She must have done something to Matthew to give her some time to convince the other Lycans to side with Drigo."
"Then— "
"Since she wanted his son to become the next King. Then I shall give her that."
"Your Majesty what about— "
"I am still alive and well, Ulva," the King smirked. "We don’t really know what is going to happen before he is crown King."
Ulva lowered her head as her lips lifted into an evil smirk. "Your majesty is... wise as always."
.....
Somewhere in Scotland.
Ava shivered as she hugged Matthew’s waist. The motorcycle seemed to vibrate beneath her legs and it wasn’t doing her any good. She bit her lips as Matthew’s scent filled her nostrils.
A damn motorcycle!
The man jumped out of the balcony and let her ride a motorcycle!
Until now, Ava was still suspended in a state of disbelief. She rested her head on Matthew’s wide back. The fact that they weren’t wearing any helmets and that Matthew was running at a hundred only added to the thrill and excitement that she felt when she saw him again.
The relief from seeing him alive and well was something that made her feel something inexplainable, something she hadn’t felt in a long time.
After a few minutes, the motorcycle came to a full stop. She got down and realized that they were on a beach.
The sound of the waves as they gently hit the rocky shore made Ava smile. Not long ago, she had seen a couple enjoying the beach. At that time, she wished she could do something like that with Matthew.
The shore wasn’t that far away from where she was standing. A cold breeze gently made its presence. Ava shivered in response. She was still wearing her dress and had forgotten her coat. Or wait. She didn’t forget anything. It’s just that Matthew literally hauled her out of that place.
The memory of what happened made her smile. She stared at the boy of water in front of her. The water seemed to glitter against the light coming from the moon. It was beautiful.
Ava froze when she felt Matthew standing behind her. Her head hit his hard chest reminding her of a strong boulder. Then she felt his arm envelop her body.
Without saying a word, Ava rested her head against his chest as she listened to the sound of his steady heartbeat.
It was steady and warm.
It was comfortable.
It was home.
Damnit.
She missed him!
Ava turned around and folded her arms around his neck.
Still, she said nothing. She just stared at his now silver eyes and into the slight smile on his lips. He looked dashing yet a part of him felt dark and heavy.
"Kiss me?" Ava said and he obliged. The Kiss was gentle and slow. It was something that she never expected but she was very much willing to take. His arm secured her waist as he continued kissing, exploring her mouth.
And after what felt like forever, he pulled her into a tight hug. His warmth enveloped her body, his heart was the only rhythm she could hear. And she loved it.
Oh...
She loved it.
"Finally," he whispered, and just when Ava wasn’t staring at him, the silver on his eyes vanished. What remained was the color... of blood
However, the moment Ava looked at him again, the red was no longer there as if it was never there in the first place.
Matthew smiled as he held Ava’s chin, lifting it up. Then he planted another gentle kiss on her lips.
"Mine," Matthew said in a gruff voice.
"Yours," Ava responded.
