Ava smiled as she walked inside a small cave-like structure not far away from the castle.
"Your Highness, I didn’t know that you were coming?" Erenes, who stood in front of Ava frowned.
"Let him be," Ava said. She was honestly too happy to even explain to Matthew what they were doing here. All she told him was the fact that she needed to finish this before the sun rises. And he just followed her without asking questions. "Where is he?" she asked as she examined the entrance of the Royal Morgue.
"Are you sure this is a royal morgue? Wasn’t this too shabby?"
"This isn’t," Erenes answered. "But Kieran already lost his mother. The Queen was just waiting for him to die. Why would she treat him with respect when he is already... ’dead’?
Ava stopped walking. She looked at Matthew behind her and smiled.
In response, he reached out and held her hand.
Seeing this, Erenes couldn’t help but glare at the two love birds. "Follow me," This time, she let out a sighed and led Ava into another room. "Who taught you how to make... puppets like this?"
"A witch doesn’t just tell anyone their secrets."
"I am curious. It was pretty convincing. In fact, it would have convinced me too. Especially if... I didn’t know about your plan."
"Where is Prince Kieran?" she asked.
"He is here."
"Take me to him." Ava wanted to tell her they don’t have much time. If she won’t give Kieran the antidote in a few minutes, he would succumb to his death.
"What kind of poison is that?" Erenes asked.
"Again— "
"My apologies," Erenes said. "But how were you able to frame Nessa? Can you at least answer this question?"
"That spell was meant to find the spell that Ulva gave me. Not the one that I used to ’kill’ Kieran," Ava said. It was honestly that simple. Ulva tried to find the wrong potion. And so, her spell failed. It actually revealed the potion that she gave to Ava which Ava managed to put into Nessa’s things before the event even started.
What she used to poison Kieran was a different poison that she personally concocted. Of course, it doesn’t taste as good or smell as good as other poison.
Ava created that drink for a totally different reason; reasons that she wouldn’t want to share with anyone else.
But that is not the point here. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Ava found Kieran lying below another table that they covered with some simple cloth. It was in plain sight. And it was the perfect disguise.
No one would have thought that Kieran’s real body was just a few feet away from the Dummy that Ava created from the Shaman’s forbidden spells.
"That magick... the one that you used is forbidden," Erenes said. "Where did you learn such a spell?"
Again, Ava glared at the older woman. "Why does it matter?"
"I— I just— that spell should have vanished a long time ago," Erenes said while Ava lowered herself and checked out Kieran’s pulse. There was none.
The man before her was as pale as a sheet of paper.
Smiling, Ava opened a vial but before she could touch Kieran’s face, Matthew suddenly said. "Let me do it."
"Huh?"
"You wanted to put it inside his mouth?"
Before Ava could answer, Matthew, shoved the whole vial inside Kieran’s mouth and then closed it.
"That was— that was glass," Ava uttered. She was honestly speechless. What was that just now?
"Is that going to wake him up?"
"How did you know he isn’t dead yet?"
"I can hear his blood," Matthew said.
"Oh?" Ava met Erenes’s eyes. "Well that’s lucky, I guess." The two of them got up. "I guess we just have to wait and see?"
"What do you mean?" Erenes asked.
"Prince Kieran knew the danger of this method. There is a possibility that he won’t wake up. I believe I have explained everything before."
"But what would happen if he won’t wake up?"
"Then he dies," Ava said. "Too bad, huh?"
"You- " Erenes narrowed her eyes.
"But we don’t really know, right? Maybe he is strong enough to fight that potion."
"Strong enough? That potion and the dummy were made by ancient magick! How could a wolf fight such magick?" Erenes said.
"I guess we just have to wait?" Ava said. Actually, she forgot to tell the woman that this potion wasn’t meant to kill someone. So, as long as they gave the antidote on time, Kieran would survive. Of course, she wasn’t going to explain all that now.
Seeing Erenes panic like this was very entertaining.
"I haven’t seen Elizabeth in a while," Ava commented.
"She’s — "
"She’s what?"
"She had been very busy."
"You are lying." Ava walked around the small morgue. Now that she had taken a closer look, this place was not only empty it was a little dirty. Why would the throne put Kieran’s body in a place like this?
"I don’t think this is any of your business Miss Woods," Erenes scolded.
"Right," Ava said. "Though I wonder... if you wanted to leave this place with your daughter. You don’t look too happy. And quite honestly? You looked older since the last time I saw you." This woman should be in her nineties, right? For some reason, she looked a little older than Baba who should be older than Erenes.
Was it stress?
Can magick cure stress?
Ava couldn’t help but silently wonder. She tried to walk around but was quickly stopped by Matthew.
"You know, he would probably die," Ava said. "How could you shove the whole vial into his mouth?"
For the first time since they arrive, Matthew’s face darkened. "I was a little disappointed the vial was small. It would have immediately killed him if it was bigger."
Ava blinked. She didn’t know what to say.
"He is your brother."
"That doesn’t make it alright for you to help him."
Again, Ava blinked. Then she narrowed her eyes. But before she could say a word, Kieran started coughing.
Finally, he is back!
