"I don’t understand," Ava said. "I mean... what made you think that you can just... say something that I would immediately do it?"
"I’m not asking. It was a warning. Some very very horrible things would happen if... you refuse to do it."
Ava opened her mouth but before she could speak, Ulva added, "There was a reason why witches chose to serve the Lycans and treat them as their master. Some traditions aren’t meant to be broken."
"Witches are treated as slaves, lower class. In this place, they are the maids, the cooks, the ones who took care of the horses. I don’t understand you are a witch. Why would you do something like that to your fellow witch?"
In response, Ulva just stared at her. "I would pretend that I did not hear that from you." Then, she calmly left the forest, leaving Ava alone.
For a few minutes, Ava stayed in the shadowed area of the forest. The place had many tall trees but upon closer look, Ava notice some peculiarities. This forest is made by powerful witches!
**GRRRRRRR**
When Ava heard something growl, she instantly turned alert.
Damnit! She had never expected this from that woman!
How could Ulva blatantly attack her in broad daylight?
She gritted her teeth and found a larger tree. Leaning against the tree, Ava looked around. Nothing.
She extended her senses but still found nothing. When Ava tried to teleport out of the place, she quickly discover that she couldn’t! This only means one thing!
Frustrated, Ava found herself running towards the place where Ulva left. And that was when she discovered that no matter how much she ran, it seems that she was stuck in the same place, unable to move! Was this an illusion?
Narrowing her eyes, Ava thought of a single spell from the Shaman’s grimoire. But the fact that it was one of the forbidden spells made her reluctant. In the end, she chose to observe instead. Right now, she had two options.
First, she could force herself out of this place, and second, she could wait for whatever it is that’s coming.
Slowly, a smile appeared on Ava’s face.

"I knew of a few families working with some witches," Matthew broke the silence that covered his study. "And I knew some of them dared to follow me inside this place."
The seven people who followed him flinched when they heard his words.
"De Lee..." Matthew leaned back, his expression extremely languid. "Tell me your thoughts about Hybrids."
"Hybrids are pretty popular in China. Especially in the black market. There have been auctions and the number of people who wanted to acquire Hybrids had increased. Mostly, they used these... creatures to create a mercenary or a team of strong people that would act as their secret military or guards. Unfortunately, these people had been very illusive. We have tried our best to infiltrate but for some reason, they have always been ahead of us by a few steps."
"So, there is indeed a spy."
Mr. De Lee lowered his head. "Please forgive this old man’s incompetence, your highness. As you know, China is a large country. However, this isn’t just the only reason why we are experiencing a hard time tracking them. Another reason is technology. As you know... technology had been evolving. Because of this, we have to evolve as well. But we are still lacking. Our influence in the country had been weakened not only by the Government who is composed of some High ranking officials from both Trillium and Keeper, but it is also because — "
Mr. De Lee stared at Matthew.
"Speak."
Mr. De Lee continued to act hesitant before he sighed.
"The King never cared about these things."
"Then are you saying that he no longer cared about the Hybrids?"
"It’s not that. In fact, the King had taken interest in the Hybrids but the management of the affairs outside has been given to the nobles. While we have the autonomy to act as we like, this also created problems. Problems that could have been fixed by proper checks and balances."
"So, you are indeed blaming the King’s incompetence?" Matthew scoffed.
"Please forgive my audacity, your highness. I am merely stating facts."
Matthew had a bemused smile on his face as he observed the older man. Seeing the old man’s tense expression, Matthew said. "Fret not. I don’t care about your thoughts about the current crown. All I care about is the... abomination that was created by witches and humans."
"Your Highness— "
"De Katakage," Matthew acknowledge the man who spoke.
"May I know why you wanted to focus on the Hybrid instead of the possible revolt that Queen Luna’s supporters would do after the canceled event?"
Matthew only smiled in response. Seeing this, De Katakage added, "With all due respect your highness I have a question that might offend you."
"Go on."
"We are Lycans but most of us live outside of this Kingdom. We have families and friends that we cherished outside. The survival of the Lycans is important to us. So, we wanted to know. Do you want to become King?"
"Of a rotten Kingdom?" Matthew snorted, leaving everyone speechless. "I don’t think so."
"Then— "
"Then I will talk about what I wanted to achieve once I have dealt with the majority of the problems that might cause problems in the future." Seeing the seriousness on Matthew’s face, everyone seemed to sigh in relief. While Matthew said that he doesn’t want to be King in this Kingdom, he is also doing his best to deal with the Hybrids.
Matthew is helping the Lycans and all the supernatural.
At least he was different from the current King.
"Let’s— " Matthew stopped talking and immediately looked out of the windows. Suddenly, his eyes turned dark gold with what looked like a tinge of blood on his irises.
"Your Highness?"
Without saying a word, Matthew got up.
Then he opened the window and jumped, leaving the others speechless.
"I heard... that he jumped out of the balcony when he came back," one of the nobles said.
Everyone stared at him. Then Mr. De Lee sighed. "Perhaps the next King just loves... jumping windows? Who are we to judge him?"
