Chapter 273: Ripped

Ava frowned when she heard another growl from her left.

Whoever did it, didn’t plan on killing her. They just wanted to scare her!

Obviously, this wasn’t working.

Ava was calmly observing the forest. She has silently used a tracking spell that would track whoever it was that was playing a joke on her. Right now, the spell has proven useless.

This would only make sense if there were two or more powerful witches around her. Of course, Ava knew that there is a high chance that a group of witches are doing this to her.

But what the heck is ’this’ exactly?

An illusion?

A prank?

Ava pursed her lips. This was very disappointing!

She thought that Ulva was one of the witches but it seems that she was wrong. Ulva isn’t in on it.

Or else, the spell would have been stronger.

While Ava couldn’t leave this place, she could easily do other things that would be productive. Ava sat in a lotus position and started meditating. This place was surrounded by other witches and maybe even a magick circle somewhere. Meaning, it has an extremely potent magick! Of course, Ava wasn’t planning on letting this opportunity go!

.........

"You said, she is going to panic and cry! Why isn’t she doing anything?" A red-haired witch said in a hushed tone. She was staring at an enchanted mirror that showed what was happening around Ava. "Why is she standing there like... are you certain this is going to work?" the red-haired witch was slowly getting impatient.

According to the rumors, Ava was a witch who lived in the city her whole life. She didn’t learn proper magick and this... this should have been enough to scare her! But it wasn’t doing anything!

Ava was just calmly listening. Her back was against a large tree and the expression on her face was silently telling her that she was enjoying this instead!

"Will you stop being impatient?" the brown-haired woman responded.

"Impatient? This was just a prank! It was supposed to last for a couple of seconds then we ran. But this... It’s been minutes! What if the Priestess and the others would know about it?"

The red-haired continued, "What if... a royal or— "

"Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about this."

"I know but— eh?" the red-haired and brown-haired witch immediately paled when they realized that someone else had answered the red-haired words. Slowly, they turned their heads around in a comical way as they stared at the woman who stood not far away from them.

"Princess!"

"You— Your Highness!"

"At ease..." the woman flicked her long blond hair that was tied in a beautiful braid and focused her silver-gray eyes on the mirror. "But I agree... she’s a bit different, no?"

"Your highness... please forgive us. We didn’t mean to— "

"Enough. I didn’t hear anything. I just came to watch."

The two women immediately let out a sigh of relief.

Princess Francheska Graydon was well known for being playful and kind. She was the exact opposite of her blood brother Drigo who was known for his tyrannous actions. The two women gave her the space so she could stand in front of the circular mirror.

"What is she doing no? Why was she sitting down?"

"We— we don’t know your highness. It looked like she’s not scared but— " the red-haired answered.

"But what?"

"If she was not scared then it means, she understood that this was all an illusion so... why isn’t she doing anything to get out?"

"Maybe she didn’t want to get out?" Princess Francheska narrowed her eyes towards Ava. Why would someone refuse to get out of this situation? "She’s no fun," Francheska said. "I am leaving. I suggest you stop that before she got tired and hurt you. I heard she’s quite a witch." Francheska smirked. A witch who was able to seduce someone who hated witches is not a simple witch!

With this in mind, Francheska left the two women on their own.

In the first place, it wasn’t Francheska’s attention to see them. She only used this pathway to secretly visit the library and read some books. She knew that this castle had been abandoned and was pretty remote. Plus, it had secret access to the library. Meaning, she could go in and out without other people knowing where she was at.

"Hm?’ Francheska frowned when she sensed a thick bloodlust coming toward the castle. She immediately hid her presence as goosebumps covered her body. What was that?

She dragged her eyes towards the area where the two witches were doing the magick. Then she shivered.

A dark ominous aura had spread from that place!

While curious, Francheska chose not to approach the area. Her gut was telling her that something or maybe even someone had arrived to deal with the two witches earlier. And she wouldn’t be able to win against this... something.

So why bother?

Isn’t it best to just save her life?

With that in mind, she continued walking, ignoring the smell of blood that started to spread around the area.

Meanwhile, Ava was clearly unaware of what had just transpired. She was still sitting, meditating, hoping to gain some sort of enlightenment from one of the Shaman’s knowledge that she had absorbed.

The Shaman had told her even before she went into the Pits that she needed to absorb his knowledge slowly. Or she would die.

So, she had no other choice but to use this method and slowly analyze each spell and the secrets behind it. This was another reason why the spells that she knew were still a bit limited.

"Hm?" Ava opened one of her eyes when she noticed something.

The magick disappeared?

She got up and looked around.

The magick completely vanished. No signs of it anywhere.

Sighing, she was about to start walking out of the forest when she felt something approaching her way.

"Ah!" Ava yelled out in surprise when a sudden blur appeared in front of her. "Matthew!" she exclaimed. This wasn’t the first time that she saw his speed but it still surprised her every time.

"You smell like... blood," Ava calmly said as she slowly understood what just happened.

To her surprise, Matthew didn’t look happy at all.

"You knew about those witches?" he asked.

"Which ones?" she feigned ignorance.

Matthew pursed his lips. "I never understood why you love putting yourself in danger." He took a step closer and a single branch cracked under his boots. A cold breeze suddenly landed on Ava’s skin. Yet she managed to maintain her composure.

"I don’t know what you are talking about." Ava smiled.

"I see..."

"Ah!" Ava let out another surprise squeal when Matthew suddenly turned her around, letting her face the tree. Then he leaned forward.

"The bruises must have already disappeared since you are in the mood to play games with me." His deep husky voice floated inside her ears. It sent shivers down her spine.

"I don’t know what you are talking about," she said.

"Is that so?" Matthew asked.

"Of-"

The sound of her clothes being ripped interrupted her words.

"Matthew what are you-"

"I thought your skirt was just a bit too long," Matthew said. "Don’t you think so too?"
