Chapter 275: Demise

Queen Luna was staring at her reflection when she received the news about Matthew and Ava. She frowned when she heard that Matthew jumped out of the window while Ava walked into the forest and didn’t come out. She had asked her people to follow both Matthew and Ava and now, she somehow wished that she didn’t.

"Is that all?"

"Yes, your majesty."

"I told you to obtain some useful information." Queen Luna tried to hide the disappointment in her voice. "What kind of information is this?"

"Miss Woods vanished into thin air. Something must have happened inside that forest."

Something?

The Queen lifted an eyebrow.

While many people weren’t aware of it, Queen Luna knew that the forest was made by more than a hundred witches. It was also full of traps and other secret rooms that the Royal Family could use in case of emergencies.

To sum it up, that place is a large fortress that was made for the Royal Family.

How could someone like Ava have access to that place?

"And Ulva came out?" she asked for the second time.

"Yes, your majesty."

Queen Luna narrowed her eyes. She could, of course, ask her people to find Ava. However, Ulva’s involvement in the matter would make everything complicated.

She gritted her teeth in silence.

Just like the King, Ulva changed the way she treated the Queen when they discovered that Drigo isn’t actually the strongest son.

"I will go and talk to Ulva," Queen Luna uttered. However, before she could get up, one of her maids informed her that the patriarch of the De Cene Family was here to see her.

"Now?" she asked.

How could someone visit her unannounced?

However, given the current situation, the Queen knew that she had no reason to refuse this visit.

"Take him to my drawing room," the Queen harrumphed. She would gladly forget about this disrespect as long as the De Cene Family is going to help her achieve her goal. The Queen couldn’t really say that she didn’t expect this visit.

She’d heard rumors about the De Cene family’s demise after trying to force Matthew into marrying Aira.

Right now, the De Cene Family’s future is already considered dark as their heir was suffering from a mysterious disease.

Of course, only the Queen and a few other people know about this.

After a few minutes, the Queen walked inside her drawing room and greeted the old man from the De Cene family.

"Your Majesty..." Patriarch De Cene looked even older than the last time that the Queen saw him which was only a couple of hours ago. He sat opposite her, his face serious. "I would like to formally declare my support to his highness Drigo."

The Queen nodded. She already expected the old man to say this. However, she still came here to hear what he was about to offer to help Drigo.

"You know that we are already in a desperate situation but as Queen of this Kingdom, I have the right to ask about the things that you could offer to help my son."

"Treason."

The Queen frowned when she heard that word. Everyone from the Royal Family knows the weight of the word treason. For Lycans, treason can only be punished by something worse than death.

"Tell me more," the Queen said.

"We believe that Ava Woods is working with Trillium. They wanted to penetrate inside the Lycan society and are using Ava to gain information and access to the Royal Family."

"That— "

"Ava Woods is involved in treason and by extension... his highness Matthew too."

"You are telling me that they are working with witches who are supporting some noble families in secret?"

"Yes, your majesty."

"Treason, you say?" Queen Luna’s lips lifted into a cruel smirk. "Can you prove your claims?"

This silence the old man.

As expected, the Queen thought inwardly.

"Do we really need one?" the old man retorted after a long silence.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Trillium has always been careful. Their spies... naturally had been trained to blend in, to adjust to any situation. We have reasons to believe that Miss Woods was secretly trained by Trillium and that was why she disappeared in Alaska. We also believe that she deliberately approached his highness Matthew because she knew that he was the future King."

"Go on..." the Queen said.

"Because of her, the future King of Lycans now refused to touch other women and even marry someone. The future King of Lycans refused to do his duties and responsibility because of that witch."

"Are you saying that— "

"An enchantment. We believe that the witch used some sort of dark, ancient magick to control his highness, Matthew."

"That— " That actually made sense! Matthew always hated witches! He believed that a witch had killed her already dying mother. Because of this, he refused to make any contracts with witches. But this all changed when he met Ava.

The Queen already made her research and she knew that Matthew and Ava’s relationship had a very fast progression. How could the future King of Lycans act like that?

"We can easily use this argument and convince people."

"But what if it won’t?" Queen Luna asked.

"Then we will be forced to use another way to prove our point."

"You have a way to prove that Ava is working with Trillium?"

"Yes— but— "

"But what?"

"It could create conflict between Trillium and us."

Queen Luna frowned. Not long after a sinister glint appeared in her eyes.

"Who cares about Trillium? Those people had been the Hegemons of the Supernatural world for as long as I can remember. Isn’t it time to tell the rest of the supernatural world that the Lycans are not scared of Trillium?"

"The plan will involve Hybrids." Patriarch De Cene said.

"Hybrids?"

"Trillium had been involved with the people who created Hybrids."

"You mean the Keepers? The Humans?"

"Yes, your majesty."

"So? How are you going to prove that... Ava was working with Trillium using Hybrids?"

"Simple..." Patriarch De Cene’s lips lifted into a crooked smile. "We keep her and watch as Hybrids try to rescue and save her from her demise."
