Chapter 315: Moment

"Ava?"

Ava felt like someone pushed her into a really cold lake. Her whole body felt cold.

Ava helt Matthew’s finger on her lips. Then he pulled her towards the corner most part of the room. She didn’t realize that there was a small space next to the wall and the end of the shelf. It was small enough for one person and well... definitely not enough for the two of them.

With Matthew’s stature, the two of them had to squeeze in the space. His hard stomach squeezed against her breast. It was so damn suffocating! She held her breath.

"Use a spell to hide us..."

"Why?" she whispered back.

"Just because I said so?"

She wanted to hit him but the space was just too small for any movement. In the end, she complied.

She didn’t want Francheska to see them like this.

"She can’t hear or smell us now," Ava said.

"You really are familiar with Ancient spells." He chuckled.

"How did you know I used something ancient?"

"Because it didn’t smell."

"Oh?" Ava’s lips twitched. Yes. Matthew was right. A modern spell would have that burning smell but an ancient spell doesn’t have one. It was the easiest way to determine if one was using someone from the past.

However, there are a few exceptions.

Some ancients spell would have scents. Though it’s usually pleasing like the smell of cinnamon or vanilla or chocolates.

The two of them heard Francheska’s footsteps.

"Francheska has a relic," Matthew said.

"Hm?"

"She’s using it to hide herself."

"Really? How did you know?" Of course, Ava wasn’t expecting an answer from him. So, she changed the question. "Is that the reason why she could hide very well?"

He nodded in response.

"She told me it came from her maternal family."

"Perhaps."

Ava nodded. The thing is, she didn’t have any interest in that relic right now. Not when she could feel his erection against her stomach. She’s too focused on that hardened thing to think about any relic right now.

"Women are treated differently," Matthew said. "Especially the royal ones. They usually think they are lower than the male Royals."

"That— That’s messed up," Ava tried her best to concentrate but his fragrance was too distracting. And of course, there is that hard thing poking against her belly. freёweɓnovel_com

She raised her head. The smirk on his face was enough to tell her that he was doing this on purpose.

And damnit!

She walked right into his trap!

"You really are a jerk."

"Well, it just happened that this jerk is the one that you are lusting for. "

"Lusting?" Ava lifted an eyebrow. She was about to deny it when Matthew said.

"Am I wrong?"

She stared at his eyes, narrowed her eyes, and snorted.

"Yes."

"Yes what?" he asked.

"Yes, you are wrong."

"Oh? Are you going to deny the fact that— " he made a deliberate pause. "If I touch you now, can you assure me that I wouldn’t find a pool of your juices in between your legs?"

She gritted her teeth.

"I may not have the wolf inside me but I still have its body. I can smell you, Princess."

"Don’t call me that."

"I am a Prince. It is only right that I call my wife, Princess, no?"

For some reason, Ava suddenly felt tired of arguing against him. Why does it feel like she’s losing every time she tried to reason with him?

"You are too stiff... relax or you will not be able to control your magick and her werewolf senses would smell you."

She felt her face flush. If she lost control of her magick then Francheska would definitely know that she was here with Matthew and she would almost immediately smell Ava’s arousal.

That would be too embarrassing!

"Uhhh..." Francheska stopped walking at the part of the shelf where Ava and Matthew stood earlier. "I swear... Was I wrong?" Francheska looked around. Then she shrugged and turn around.

"She knew," Matthew said.

"What?"

"She must have sensed my presence. I say that is rare for a young wolf."

"So... is that why she left?"

"But of course," Matthew said. "She wouldn’t want to become my enemy." He had a smug smile on his face.

"Now... where were we?" he added.

"You really should leave now," Ava said. She chose not to remove the invisibility that she had just in case Francheska would come back. She didn’t want to risk embarrassing herself.

She tried to move out of the space but Matthew held her close to him.

"Stay like this?" Matthew said. She didn’t know if that was an order or a question but for some reason, she felt something in his voice. Something she recognized as exhaustion.

Ava blinked, unable to decide what to do next.

She debated with herself for a few seconds. Then she saw him close his eyes and lean closer until his chin touched her forehead. Without saying a word, Ava didn’t move or tried to move. She just stayed there and let him rest.

Just for a few minutes.

And a little more.

The next thing, she knew she was already resting her head on her chest while he enveloped her in a cozy and warm hug. Again, she felt him rest his chin on top of her head, and again, she let him do it without saying another word.

Something about it felt peaceful.

Even if it was just for a moment.

At that moment Ava thought about the past Matthew. Yes. This is something that the past Matthew would do. Was it possible that the past Matthew was still inside him? Are they slowly merging into one entity? Baba told her they are part of one soul.

It is only logical that they merge, right?

Ava had so many questions but she didn’t know what to ask first.

No. That was wrong.

Actually, Ava didn’t want to ask him anything.

She was too scared to hear his answer.

She was too scared to hear the truth.

....

Good news! I will have another banner 27th! They said they made a mistake. There was a glitch! T.T
