Chapter 314: Christmas Tree

"What are you doing here?" Ava elbowed him, making him let her go. She faced him and frowned. "I didn’t hear you."Or sense him. Perhaps this was because she couldn’t feel his wolf inside his body? There was a connection between them but that connection was not the same as the one she had with him in the past.

He only chuckled in response.

She immediately took a few steps back, her senses on high alert.

"I thought you are away?"

"I was. Not anymore." Matthew looked around. "But I am leaving again. I came to tell you that I might not be able to join the conference after all."

"And?"

"So, I want you to stay here and join me as my wife."

"Whose wife?"

"If not mine then... are you saying you are going to marry someone else?"

"I decline your proposal."

"That was in the past."

"You are annoying."

"Yet, you like me, don’t you?"

She glared at him and notice that once again, he was wearing all black. His style was definitely different than Matthew’s beige and gray’s elegant and sophisticated style. Yet, something about this new all-black look made him look better.

Was it the slightly dangerous vibe that he now possesses?

She stared at his silver-gray eyes.

"You should leave before your sister walks in on us," she uttered and tried walking away. This is dangerous. This Matthew is dangerous too. Not just because he likes to kill people. It was because of the undeniable aura that seemed to pull her towards him.

They might be mates but...

But what?

She argued with herself inwardly.

What the hell is wrong with her?

Once again, she froze when she felt him standing close behind her. As expected, turning around and exposing her back wasn’t good! She couldn’t sense him move. At all. It felt like he was nothing but air.

She stilled when he inhaled her scent.

"Get away," she said this time in a milder tone.

"I’ve heard news about what Ulva did to you," Matthew said, his tone obviously darker, his voice lower. He was whispering next to her ear. His hot breath somehow made her insides shiver.

What the hell?

Why is it that this Matthew had the same effect on her as the previous Matthew? Ava recalled not being attracted to Josef even if he looked like Matthew. There was never a pull between her and Josef.

But this Matthew...

She gulped her nonexistent saliva and hoped that he didn’t notice her goosebumps.

"I don’t like it, Eve," he added.

"What?" she focused her attention on the book in front of her. It was something about Werewolves and astronomy. Right, she could focus on that. The stars. What was her zodiac sign again?

"You are capable of fighting back," Matthew said as his hand rested on her waist as if he was holding her to stop her from moving away. Her back touched his chest and eventually, she felt the drumming from his chest. His heart was racing just as much as hers! "Why did you let her hurt you?" he continued asking.

"I don’t know what you are talking about." She denied. Of course, Ava would never admit that she did it because of him. She didn’t want them to scheme against him and make him leave this place.

Ava knew that the people who trapped Matthew’s soul inside that place were powerful people. Enemies that Ava didn’t even know before. She didn’t want him to experience something like that again.

"You dare lie?" he said, his body moved forward, trapping her in between him and the shelf. "Why?"

"I am not lying."

"I knew you let her hurt you. I knew it was on purpose. And you are going to tell me why."

"I don’t owe you an explanation of my actions, your highness!" Ava retorted. Whatever she did, she did it to protect Matthew. But he didn’t have to know that.

"I wasn’t asking Eve. I want you to tell me why."

Ava chuckled. "And I wasn’t kissing when I said I don’t owe you anything. Ah!" Ava let out a gasp when he suddenly turned her around, her body facing his.

Once again, goosebumps skittered around her skin as her core tightened at his harsh action.

DAMNIT!

His action just fucking turned her on!

For some messed up reason, she fucking liked it when Matthew just moves her around as if her body belonged to him!

She lifted her eyes and didn’t miss that tinge of red on his orbs. It looked golden and red. It looked like a sunset with hues of red and yellow trying to outshine each other. She swallowed. For some reason, she felt a sudden thirst she didn’t even know existed before.

He squinted at her, his eyes moved to her lips then his Adam’s apple bobbed.

"From now on, you are not going to let anyone hurt you again. Do you understand?"

"That depends," Ava answered truthfully. "I cannot promise you something that I wouldn’t do."

"You promised to stay safe!"

"Am I not safe?"

"Yet you dared an old woman hurt you!"

"I did it on purpose!"

"What purpose could it be!? Was there anything worth it enough for you to let her threaten you and hurt you?" Matthew’s shadowed face looked intimidating yet weirdly appetizing.

Why the hell was she horny again?

This isn’t her Matthew!

Yet the attraction was undeniable!

She felt sweat cover her back as her body seemed to respond to his rough voice and angry glare.

Damnit!

She wanted him to push her against the shelf and fuck her heads out as punishment for talking back.

Ava felt like her imagination had become very messed up lately.

And she could only blame the man standing in front of him.

Matthew’s face moved closer. By now, Ava could smell a tinge of blood and musk around him. Then there were chocolates and some woody scent. He smelled cozy.

He smelled like someone she would fuck on a Christmas morning next to a fucking Christmas tree at a cabin in the middle of nowhere!

...

I mean..... T.T
