Chapter 341: If He Survives... END OF VOLUME 5

Guards...

Experts in Stealth and Assassination.

Ava wondered what guards are they talking about but she kept her mouth shut. She could ask him about it later.

Now is not the time for any doubts.

Ava was confident that Matthew would do everything to protect her. Or maybe. It wasn’t something that he told her, it was just her gut feeling.

"Two assassins?" Ava couldn’t help but turn her attention to what she just heard. "Is she that desperate to get rid of us?"

"The old tradition was different. They needed the King to kill his siblings. That is obviously a problem for the current Queen." Jude said. It looked like Jude has now familiarized himself with the laws of the Lycans.

"So it was all chaotic..." Ava said.

"Which leaves us to do all the work outside. Go ahead and pack your bag, we are going to leave." Matthew was smiling as he said this.

"Where are we going?"

"Not them..." Matthew said. "Just the two of us."

She lifted an eyebrow, she was a little suspicious to see him so excited and happy like this. Are they going to kill some people?

Somehow, this made her more curious.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

"To the werewolves."

"We will visit them?"

"Of course. That is only right. I promised to help them out. Whatever happened here would not change my promise. After all, I am a very... trustworthy person."

The sound of the old grandfather’s clock not far away from Ulva echoed inside the small bronze room. She stared at it and just as she tried to open her mouth, she started convulsing.

Her body, which was already on the cold floor made of bronze trembled until it bent backward. The sound of her bones breaking followed.

Despite this, no voice would come out of Ulva’s mouth.

"Be good..." it was Matthew’s voice. However, it came from what looked like a dark formless smoke. It doesn’t even look human. Yet, she could somehow feel the smoke’s disgust towards her.

"You won’t get away," the voice continued. "The King already agreed to cooperate. We are giving you one more hour to decide. Should you give out the names of— "

The voice didn’t complete its words as Ulva started to convulse again, her eyes started to turn white.

The voice stopped.

Then the smoke morphed into that of a human’s shape. After a few seconds, it turned into Matthew.

Ulva opened her mouth again. It was just too much. The pain of her bone being shattered and restored was enough to kill her. Except, Matthew wasn’t planning on killing her.

"So you cannot tell me, eh?" Matthew crouched in front of her. His lips lifted into a mocking smile. "So it is not letting you say it. I knew this method existed in that world but I didn’t think I would actually witness it. Not that I really wanted to see one."

The method that he was talking about had something to do with oaths. An oath of secrecy.

If you take that oath and you wanted to break it, you are going to suffer immense pain and torture. Then your body would heal itself and the torture would once again start.

It would only stop if you also stop having thoughts of revealing the secret.

It was a very old spell that should be used by people from the Shadows.

It should be taken into consideration that people from the Shadows seemed to be always good at creating spells that make people suffer. Of course, Matthew understood this.

Insanity was something considered a norm in that world. After all, it is not easy to die and relive everything that you had been through over and over and over again.

But still, hope is a very powerful thing.

The only reason why Ulva and the King and perhaps the others were able to escape that world is because of hope.

He smiled as Ulva struggled to get up. Then he sent a dark smoke on Ulva’s forehead.

"Serve your king. I will be watching you..." Matthew said. Then a hiss followed.

The door of the room made of bronze opened, giving Ulva access to the exit.

Ulva looked at the door, the next thing she knew, Matthew was no longer inside the room. Slowly, she managed to compose herself and walked out. She wasn’t exactly surprised to see the King waiting for her outside of the room.

"You are alive..." the King said.

"And so are you," Ulva responded. It was such a short greeting for two people who have known each other for centuries. But both of them understood that words weren’t enough to describe what they currently feel right now.

Matthew just put something inside their soul.

Something that would destroy them if they speak something about him even to each other. It was such a cruel method. Something that they didn’t think they deserve.

The two of them believed that they didn’t deserve this punishment as they are just two desperate creatures trying to survive. All they wanted was to live! To escape that world.

But in front of absolute power, they are useless.

After all, Matthew isn’t just someone that could destroy their bodies. He is someone that could destroy everything that they had been trying to protect.

They gave each other a meaningful look and sighed.

Together, they walked out of the room to do their own tasks.

No one knows what would happen next. Matthew could easily kill them if he really wanted to or spare them and treat them like toys. Their lives were already on his palms. Right now, they didn’t want to even think about that.

They are going to cross that bridge when they get there.

Just as they disappeared inside the room, Matthew once again appeared. This time, two people appeared before him. One was a blond man with piercing blue eyes, the other was a beautiful woman with red fiery hair and brown eyes. The two bowed.

"My lord," they said almost instantaneously.

"Guard this place," Matthew said. He is going on a long... trip. With Ava. And the telescope that he bought.

He smiled and turned.

At least, he already had a plane that he somehow owned. This place would be a very safe place for Ava and him...

If he survives.
