Chapter 346: White Tiger

Ava woke up surrounded by the sound of birds and waves.

She got up confused before she realized that she was already in the cabin. Somehow, she was already wearing different clothes, and well... Matthew was not next to her.

She immediately made her way to the bathroom and quickly freshen herself up before walking out of her room and into the living room where she could smell that breakfast. Bacon... she knew it was bacon. And maybe eggs?

"Omelet."

Ava heard Matthew say.

She turned and saw him wearing an apron, a smile plastered on his face. Then he approached her and leaned down to kiss her.

Somehow she was thankful she brushed her teeth right after waking up.

Uhhhh....

That was such a weird thought, she chastised herself inwardly. She should think about the fact that he just casually kissed her as if they were husband and wife.

For some weird reason, the thought made her blush.

"I would have wanted to serve it in bed but... I didn’t want to disturb your sleep." Matthew said as he casually went back to his cooking.

"You know how to cook?"

"Living a long life had its perks," Matthew said. "Wine or milk?" he asked.

"That’s such a weird question." Ava chuckled. "What happened to coffee?"

"I’d figure you wanted some wine after last night."

She blinked then she felt her face turn even hotter. What the hell was this man talking about?

Of course, Ava knew exactly what he was talking about. Last night... last night... she actually pulled him for another kiss and then he stopped just before everything.

She cursed and she didn’t even hide her frustration. In anger, she fell asleep.

He only smirked before handing her a freshly brewed coffee. He must have made it when he sensed her walking around her room.

"Thanks..." she sat on the wooden chair that surrounded a wooden table. The whole place was mostly made of expensive wood. Wooden walls that looked bespoke and had this cozy and country-like vibe surrounded the place.

The sound from a nearby fireplace filled the living room. The smell of bacon and eggs and maybe something that she recognized as muffins filled the kitchens.

She heard her stomach growl as Matthew continue to grace the Kitchen with his presence. She grabbed and coffee and held it against her nose. It smelled nice.

Damn it... everything smelled so nice, she was starting to get comfortable.

Comfort is good but being too comfortable around him might not be a good thing. A part of her was telling her to let go and just enjoy the moment, stop acting so prude, and misunderstand everything. It wasn’t too cute. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

After debating with her own self, she decided to just enjoy and go with the flow... for now. She convinced herself to at least let herself rest and have a little fun. And by fun, she meant... eating his food and maybe him?

The thought once again made her speechless.

She sounded like a goddamn pervert.

"I was planning to show you the rest of the property..."Matthew said as he sat opposite her. The table was circular and wasn’t that big, to begin with. It was just enough for two or maybe four people to eat together.

"Sure," she started eating her food and immediately felt ashamed. He could cook! Even better than her!

Damn it.

She might get used to this!

"Do you like it?"

She nodded. "It’s alright..."

"Just alright?" he lifted an eyebrow, grinning.

"It’s good."

"Just good?"

"Well..." she cleared her throat. "It’s better than my food."

"Did you just say that because you wanted me to cook for you?"

"Are you?"

"Of course." His words came almost immediately and that was honestly a surprise.

"Really?" she asked.

"Every single day." His answer was too casual. It was as if he never even thought of another answer or another option. She said nothing.

An awkward silence filled the room.

"This place was private property. We could come here anytime. The forest nearby was about twenty-five miles and two miles of beach and rocky cliffs."

"Have you visited this place before?"

"This belonged to my maternal parent’s family."

"Maternal..."

"Yes. Baba and I used to live here."

"You did?" that was a surprise! She knew that Matthew live far away from the palace but to actually occupy a space outside of that plane?

"My mother was buried in a family mausoleum. She’s buried along with her mother and father, my grandparents."

Ava nodded. Now she understood, Matthew didn’t just take her here because of the werewolves.

"You must be wondering... why we live in this place when the villages nearby were occupied with werewolves. It was easier to hide that way." Matthew said. "That and Baba had friends living nearby."

"Witches?"

"Yes."

"Living among werewolves?"

"Yes."

"Peacefully?"

"Peacefully," Matthew said. "The packs here are small and are not troublesome. They usually treat guests with respect and survive mostly from fishing and from the tourists that love to visit this place."

"Oh..." Matthew told her not to pack light. Hearing all this from him made her think that they might be staying here for a long time. Ava finished her food and then her coffee.

Not long after, Matthew and her left the cabin and started walking toward the woods. It didn’t take too long for Ava to realize something.

Aside from that cabin, there was no other house nearby.

She then started to wonder about something...

Did Matthew have any friends? Maybe... girlfriends? Did he go to a school nearby? What did he look like when he was but an innocent child?

Before she could ask him, she spotted a large shadow from a bush nearby. Her instincts kick in, she stepped in front of Matthew and immediately created a shield around them.

Alert, she surveyed the area with her magick and zeroed in on the bush.

Something else was in there.

Matthew’s chuckling voice woke her up from her stupor.

"Calm down..." Matthew said. "It’s my pet."

"A pet?" Ava frowned as she watched a large black and white striped creature walk out of the bush.

It was a white tiger!
