Matthew was in a terrible mood.
Not because of the entity that he just discovered but because of the fact that he needed to stop what they were doing because of one of his shadowlings. They had informed him of the location of that entity and now he had to go there and kill it.
"I said stop it!" Alpha John’s voice echoed inside his office. Right then and there, Matthew knew that Alpha John was talking to the entity.
"I want the Lycan! Kill! Kill! Kill the Lycan!"
"I said I am going to do something about it!"
"When?" the voice echoed as a dark shadow floated in front of Alpha John’s face. "I asked when!?" its voice was a mixture of harsh and nasal and whiny. Yes, it sounded like the sound of an old whining woman except it was a bit deeper.
"Soon! Can you at least let me sleep!"
"I cannot wait! I want that Lycan’s body! I want a strong body! Kill him! Kill! Kill! Kill!"
The only reason why Matthew could hear the voice was because he wasn’t in his physical body. He was in incorporeal form, which he intentionally did because he knew that catching this entity would be very difficult if he used his physical body. However, he can only maintain this state for about an hour. Then he would need to come back to his body.
Matthew was still trying to grasp the abilities that he had lost since he stayed in that god-forsaken place. However, this isn’t something unfortunate. In fact, this was actually a good thing as his enemies wouldn’t be able to find him if he doesn’t have those abilities.
He has enough time to prepare Ava for everything. He would make her strong enough to defend herself... just in case, he had to leave her alone.
"That Werelion looked a bit stupid, we can tell him to bring the Lycan here." The voice continued. "Tell him he needed to give the Lycan to us or we will kill him!"
"Will you just shut up!" Alpha John said. "This isn’t a game! One mistake and the other Lycans would come here and investigate this matter! You need to shut up and wait for me to receive the news about that plane."
"When?" the voice said. "I asked when!"
"Very soon! Now leave me alone! I need to think!"
"Tsk..." the shadow slowly disappeared. Of course, Matthew took this opportunity to follow it. This entity wasn’t that strong so he was confident that he could subdue it.
Not long after, they arrived outside of the pack house and straight into the sea. The darkness surrounded them as the starless sky blanketed the seas.
"Whose there!" the shadow suddenly stopped. It was speaking a different language— something that shouldn’t exist in this realm. It was the language of another realm.
Matthew narrowed his eyes at the formless shadow.
Alpha John couldn’t really see this shadow and could only hear its voice. However, Matthew was different. He could clearly see the shadow and the creature behind the shadow.
"I was a bit surprised that you could sense me," Matthew answered in the same language. Unlike Matthew, the shadow couldn’t sense him at all. Meaning, it could only hear his voice. "I thought you were weak. I guess I was wrong."
"Announce your name!" the voice said, still using that language.
However, it was very noticeable that the shadow was very calm as he said this. Clearly, this wasn’t his first time meeting someone like him. Matthew immediately concluded that this shadow thought Matthew was just like him.
"I have no name," slowly Matthew revealed himself. Then he smiled.
The two of them floated on top of the sea, facing each other. While the other looked like a formless smoke, Matthew looked like a human. Though he purposely hid his face just to avoid being recognized by the shadow.
"You— you are not one of us!" the voice quivered. "State your purpose! Why have you come! Did they send you? Didn’t I tell you? I am not joining them. I am going to find my own vessel!"
When Matthew said nothing, the voice continued. "Why have you come!?"
"Don’t you already know the answer to your question?"
"I have no time to waste here!"
"Have you been feeding on the children’s misery?" Matthew asked.
"So the news already reached them? I’d say that was quick. Considering I have been very careful. This place is small. I thought I did everything to avoid suspicions."
"Naive!" Matthew sneered.
"What would you have preferred me to do to feed my hunger? I have never seen someone with a body strong enough to handle mine!"
"Why not join us?" Matthew asked.
"Join you?" the voice snorted. "To do what? I can take care of myself. Just focus on the experiments! I am going to instruct the phantom to lay low for now."
"Really?"
This time, the shadow didn’t say anything. It stared at him before it let out a curse.
"You are not one of us!" the voice hissed. Its shadow immediately tried to vanish but Matthew was quicker. The next thing that happened was too fast for someone’s eyes. It would look like Matthew vanished and appeared in front of the shadow.
Then Matthew touched it.
Almost immediately, a deafening sharp scream interrupted the peace of the night. The shadow started to twitch until a much darker type of gas appeared in the middle of it.
"You are— " the voice said. "How come you are here?" frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
Matthew sneered. "Isn’t it because of the likes of you?"
"AHHHHHH" the shadow let out another scream as the darkness started to spread. The shadow’s screams became more and more aggressive.
"I have to tell them... it said." But this time, the darkness had almost completely swallowed the shadow. "I have to..." the voice said as it started to wobble. Before it finally stopped talking.
Matthew narrowed his eyes. The spot where the shadow stood earlier was now covered by dark formless material. Slowly, the material merged until it formed into a ball the size of Matthew’s fist. Then it became smaller and smaller and smaller until it disappeared into thin air.
Still, Matthew stared at the space.
The voice was using expressions from this realm. Even its accent was of this realm. And that only means one thing...
