A few minutes before...
The smell of blood filtered through her nostrils.
Ava was losing too much of it. And while she heals faster than normal humans, there is no way that she would be able to survive this kind of wound while inside an iron room.
’Tsk’
She knew the man was watching her. She had noticed the red light that kept on blinking on the corner of the ceiling. She closed her eyes. The man was clearly enjoying this.
Witches can be very powerful. She believed that aside from iron, a witch’s real weakness was the lack of knowledge and understanding. She had read some texts about powerful witches from ancient times. Witches that could create their own spell.
However, that would require a vast understanding of elements and spells.
Of course, Ava was aware that she was far from that kind of witch. Her understanding about life and death was shallow.
And this was one of her weaknesses.
She lowered her head as she started thinking of another way.
She had no idea how long she had been bleeding. If this continued, she would lose all her strength inside this box.
Slowly, she closed her eyes. This wasn’t the first time she had dealt with someone who used iron as a weapon. However, this was the first time she met someone equipped with tools that could easily weaken a strong witch.
She concentrated.
The magick inside her coursed through her veins. She could feel it engulf her body, but would vanish as soon as it would touch the iron ties on her wrists.
For the umpteenth time, she tried to access her magick and control it, make it heal her wound. Normal witches would need enchantment to heal themselves but as someone who could use spell without chanting it, Ava was different.
However, just like earlier, the magick would vanish before it could heal her wounds.
She let out another curse. Since she couldn’t use the magick inside her, so she decided to try to access the magick outside of her body.
Of course, this was easier said than done. freēwebnovel.com
Iron was the weakness of all magick.
Meaning, it could cut off anything that has magick. A witch’s sense is just one of them. Right now, she couldn’t hear anything outside of this box.
And that was... making her lose her composure.
She gulped.
As she slowly calmed herself down. She was slowly losing control of her left arm. The pain that she felt was now numbed. She needed to save as much energy as she could.
She thought of her training in Trillium. At that time, she was subjected to iron too. She was forced to fight on her own without relying on her magick and she was going to do the same now. She slowly rotated her hand. The fact that she could control her wrist was a relief.
Without hesitation, she bit on the cloth wrapped on her mouth and used her other hand to dislocate her thumb.
The excruciating pain almost made her cry. But this wasn’t the first time she did it and she was certain, this wouldn’t be the last time either.
Using her now dislocated left hand, she maneuvered her arm until it loosened the cables. The thing about cables is the fact that they aren’t really that tight.
The man just thought that she would rely on her magick to escape.
Who would have thought she was willing to dislocate her own bones to escape the cuff like cable?
She calmed herself down. No matter what, she couldn’t just move around and inform whoever it was that was watching her that she was trying to escape from whatever it was that was binding her.
After a few more minutes and countless tries, her left hand was finally free.
With her head lowered, her breathing calm, she slowly used her left hand to get a small knife that she always kept on her belt. Now that her hands are free, she was practically free to try the door.
But the man watching her from the camera would be a problem.
No. She can’t stay here.
She can’t wait for the man to walk in and drag her out of this room.
She was losing too much blood!
With this thought in mind, she used all the strength she had as she bolted on the door.
She needed to get away.
And she needed to do it now.
The pain from her shoulder seared her senses as she did her best to find the door.
Damnit!
No knob!
She should have known.
She stepped back. Her steps, fast yet careful. Then she waited.
She waited for anyone to open the door and.... Her thoughts stopped when she smelled something.
Gas?
Damnit!
Her chest raised and fell as she glared at the camera. Then she removed the cloth that covered her mouth. Inside this box, her magick is useless. Without it, she was left with no choice. She stomped her right foot 3 times, activating the tracker that Matthew put in her shoes.
The man thought she wouldn’t notice it. But she did.
Fuck! She smiled. In the end, she had to ask for his help.
The thoughts of Matthew filled her with complicated emotions.
Fuck it!
She was losing control of her body. Her gaze soon turned hazy, blurry.
Then her body hit the floor.
’Good try,’ she thought inwardly before she drifted into darkness.

"You are one resilient witch..."
Ava felt like waking up from a deep dreamless sleep. But her peaceful expression soon changed when she recalled her current predicament.
"No need to fret. I have put on some additional blindfold."
Ava felt something soft beneath her.
Bed?
As she tried to try and extend her senses again, she was surprised, this time she didn’t feel any iron around her.
"You are weak." The man uttered, amusement laced his voice. "Even without iron, I could easily defeat you in a fight." The man taunted then he chuckled.
"But we are not going to do that. For now... we are going to try and— "
"Sir!"
The man’s words were interrupted by a woman.
"I told you not to disturb me."
"We have an emergency." The woman said as she caught her breath. "Someone... someone is attacking our base."
