Two days later
Ava pursed her lips as she stared at Matthew’s shirtless frame. The last time she saw him, she didn’t notice the scars on his body. Perhaps it was because she had been too engrossed in the pool between her legs that she didn’t even see the tattoo on the man’s right side of the chest.
Was that even possible?
Why did it sound like she was a hormonal teenager ogling at the shirtless football player?
Gosh.
"You are not supposed to come here." Matthew grunted as he closed the hood of the car he was working on.
"You have been avoiding me for two days."
He tilted his head and crossed his arms against his pure muscled chest. She turned her head away, hiding the blush on her face. She wasn’t here to ogle at his body.
"What?" she snapped. Despite not looking at him, she knew he was smiling. No. More like smirking. Was he mocking her flushed face?
"You are injured."
"Not anymore," she snapped.
"Already?" he lifted an eyebrow and approached her in mere seconds. The fact that their faces were only three inches away from each other didn’t seem to bother him as he lowered his head and lifted her arm. "How is that possible?"
She shrugged his arm off, irritation flickered in her gaze. She hated how calm he was. After all that revelation, this man vanished and never even once visited her. Or at least, not when she was awake.
One of the maids actually slipped up and told her Matthew would spend hours in her room during the night, while she was asleep.
"The doctor said..."
"I know what he said, Matthew." She interrupted him. "But that’s not the reason why I’m here."
He stilled and gave her a complicated gaze.
"You want to know about the man who kidnapped you?"
She nodded. More than that, she wanted to know why she was able to calm him down that night. She had so many questions. The mate thing. The kiss. The wolf with golden eyes.
"Let me take you somewhere."
Then he turned around.
"Where are you going?" she held his arm, stopping him from walking away.
"Getting my shirt?" he said. "Unless you would like me to walk around shirtless in the snow. Because if that’s your kink..."
"Fuck you."
He chuckled and shook his head.
"Get your shirt."
"Yes, maam."
She rolled her eyes. And followed him as he wiped his sweat and put on a white shirt.
"What are you doing?" Matthew asked when he noticed her behind him.
"Following you." What if he disappeared and hid from her again? It sounded childish but the last thing she needed right then was another night without answers.
"I’m going to my room." Matthew paused and turned to look at her.
"So?"
A crooked smirk appeared on his face.
"To take a bath."
"And?" she pouted. "I’m not letting you out of my sight."
He laughed, a laughter she hadn’t heard from him before.
"Good. Cause I’m doing the same."
Huh? Before she could ask him what he meant by that, he was already walking outside of his garage. She hastened her steps and caught up to him.
"Did you find anything about Marylis?"
He nodded.
"She grew up in Alaska but she’s originally from South America. Information about her is close to nonexistent. Someone deliberately tried to hide it."
Her face darkened.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. I sent people to observe your brother."
"Observe?" Or guard?
As if sensing her thought, Matthew shrugged. "I can’t have you worrying about him when you’re with me."
She let out a low whining sound, unable to utter a word to rebut him. But one thing is for sure. Those words sent butterflies tumbling down her stomach.
Damnit.
"About the mate thing..." Ava said.
"I don’t know how it happened either."
"Really?"
Matthew stopped walking. He turned towards her.
"Does that matter?" he asked.
"What?"
"You and I. Do we need some sort of logical explanations?"
She opened her mouth but closed it again, saying nothing. Then she shook her head. A witch and a Lycan. What an interesting pair.
Not long after, they reached the mansion and Matthew went into his room. Of course, she shamelessly followed him.
"Why are you taking your clothes off?" Her eyes widened when she noticed Matthew removing his shirt.
"I’m gonna take a bath... remember?"
She wanted to argue. But this was his room, his house. She gulped.
"Is there a problem?" He approached her.
A part of her wanted to move back and avoid him. But that part long died when they kissed that night.
"No. This is your house. You can walk around naked. For all I care."
His eyes twinkled with mischief as he shamelessly lowered his eyes to her cleavage then back to her face. She swallowed as she fought the temptation to lower her gaze to his body.
"Is that right?" he asked.
Musk and sweat filled her nostrils. The scent was enough to distract her.
Damnit.
But instead of giving in, she lifted her head and smirked at him.
"Right." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Heat radiated from his body and hell... the lust that was swirling out of him struck her like a damn tornado. Her breath turned shallow as her heart threatened to break her rib cage.
Before seeing him today, she was hell bent on proving to herself that this mating thing was... nonsense.
She was a hundred percent sure that her current predicament would stop her from her wicked thoughts. She was confident as she had walked towards his garage arrogantly.
Now, in front of his saucy grin and sexy abs, all the reasoning tumbled down into oblivion. All the pep-talk that she had given herself vanished as if it never existed in the first place.
The attraction was too much, her pussy felt like it was being tormented, shackled. And it was dying to convince her to just fucking let it go. Give in. Open her legs for him.
Damnit!
"So..." Matthew gulped. His eyes lingered on her lips before they went back to her green eyes. "Should I kiss you or... should you kiss me?"
"Sire... the documents that you asked earlier are here. Should I leave them in your office? Or just..." Simon’s voice drifted, breaking the atmosphere between them.
