Chapter 421: Killing a God 13

Vessels.

Why would many occupants from another realm want to have humans as their vessels? Why would they want to move their consciousness to another human’s body?

The answer is pretty simple.

Humans have the potential to grow more powerful. To evolve. To become more.

Humans don’t have magick or anything that could make them powerful and that might be because of their body’s potential to grow.

The Shaman had wondered why those people wanted to create Hybrids. For the longest time, he had suspected this was because they wanted to summon someone from the celestial realm. Perhaps, an angel or any other higher being.

But he never thought that whoever was doing it wanted to move into a human’s body. They actually wanted to invade humanity? That might sound insane but... for some reason, the Shaman thought that is actually a smart choice. Especially for someone who wanted more power.

So... is he going to do anything to stop them?

No. He won’t.

This doesn’t affect him at all.

He had grown older. He is currently dying.

Many people called him selfish, someone who only cared about himself. And that is true. He is not just selfish. He is someone indifferent to the things that don’t concern him. That was mainly the reason why he survived despite the fact that a celestial fragment was occupying his body.

That’s right...

The robed man actually got it wrong.

The Shaman wasn’t born with a celestial fragment. He only accidentally obtained the fragment while he was visiting another realm. The power that the fragment held was immense and it was too much for his body to handle. Despite his very own magick, his body cannot withstand the effects of the fragment and thus, it was killing him instead of making him immortal.

The funny thing was, he didn’t know about this until it was already too late. By then, the celestial fragment’s power had started to wreak havoc inside his body. Though he had lived for a long time, the Shaman still found it hard to believe that an accident could actually cost him his life. Of course, he did everything to find some solutions. In fact, he had spent the last hundred years of his life researching it.

This was the reason why he went to the Pits and the reason why he had traveled to various realms that should be considered the enemy of the celestial realm. He thought he would find the solution in those realms. He had looked for ways to try and weaken its power, to extend his life. It was futile.

Then he found Ava.

Sadly, he found him in the last years of his life. He found him just when he already accepted the fact that his life would end like this.

Because of this, the Shaman didn’t waste time. He wanted her to inherit everything that he knew, everything that he had studied. He made her his apprentice.

To be honest, the man’s proposition was really tempting. As someone who wanted to extend his life, it would be logical for the Shaman to agree to the man’s plans. However, he didn’t want to be greedy.

Living a long life has become boring. It has become lonely.

His time is coming and he didn’t want to change that.

"Humans have the ability to grow," the man continued. "They were akin to a blank... slate. We could do whatever we want. Once we get that body, we could rule their realm and— "

"Why haven’t you ruled their realms, yet?" the Shaman interrupted the robed man.

"What?"

"You — are just like that child. Why are you still inside this plane, hiding when you could easily rule that realm?"

"I— "

"Because the experiments didn’t succeed..." the Shaman snorted. "How could it be that easy!? The child that I just killed just now might have a strong body but in front of someone like me... she is like a small ant trying to face an elephant. Moreover, I am well aware that she had problems. She’s not going to survive for long..." the Shaman said. If someone like him couldn’t survive the fragment, then someone who was born human wouldn’t be able to survive that fragment too.

Hearing him laugh, the robed man turned silent.

"Did you really think I am a fool?" the Shaman scoffed. "Oh... you people of other realms tend to think you are too smart to deal with humans. You think that you are too smart for the human world. You really wanted to rule the human realm with that midget thinking and ant-like brain? How annoying." If someone wanted to conquer the human realm, they should at least think if they really are capable of doing that!

Humans might not have magick or any abilities and power but they aren’t dumb. Their greatest advantage is their brain and ability to adapt to any given situation.

"Now that we already have that out..." the Shaman smiled. "Don’t you think it is time to end this?"

"I mean no harm, Shaman." The robed man said. "I am not here to fight against you." freёwebnovel.com

"So...." The Shaman made a deliberate pause. "I should just let you go?" The Shaman then gave the man a smug smile. Then without warning, he used his magick to attack him. To his surprise, the robed man didn’t avoid his attack. Then he watched as the robes man’s body disintegrated into thin air.

The Shaman frowned, his expression turned ugly. Without warning, he started coughing up blood.

Fuck, he thought inwardly as he fell to his knees. His face paled.

The dagger!

The devil’s dagger had poisoned it!

How the hell did he miss it?

A loud laughter echoed inside his head.

"Oh my...." It was the robed man’s voice. "You haven’t noticed it... have you?" sarcasm coated the man’s tone. "You humans are really foolish! I am weaker than you! Did you really think I would use my real body to talk to you?"

Another laughter echoed just as the robed man’s body materialize not far away from where the Shaman was standing.

"Fool human..." the robed man said. "You are nothing but my next specimen! Don’t think too highly of yourself!"
