"I never thought that someone from the celestial realm would be hiding inside this realm," a man wearing a black robe appeared. Not far away from him. They are currently inside the study, and since there are shields around them, no one knows what has been happening inside.
Not even Baba who was nearby.
The Shaman pursed his lips. He stared at the man.
"You are not from this realm..." the Shaman said.
The man snorted in response. He then vanished and reappeared not far from the woman’s body.
"She’s one of the best," the man said.
"And you dared sacrifice her just to see if I am from that world," the Shaman retorted. He then started walking in front of Ava’s body, as if protecting it from the robed man. The thing is, Ava’s body had been wrapped with his invisibility spell so, the robed man cannot actually see it.
Still, the Shaman wanted to make sure that Ava is safe. The Shaman would never lower his guard, especially not in front of an unknown enemy.
"I apologize for the disrespect. I just wanted to make sure. I am almost certain that someone like you would never tell me the truth if I asked."
"You are right," the Shaman said calmly. The fact that this man used someone who had the same celestial fragment inside them was disturbing enough. What was more disturbing was the fact that the fragment inside the woman’s body was artificially planted. People with celestial fragments are rare and had the potential to grow very powerful. Why would he sacrifice one just to make sure that the Shaman is one of them?
Obviously, there is another motive that the Shaman didn’t know.
"I have heard about people who were born with celestial fragments. Humans who were born with immense power, so immense they were feared by other humans. Ah... I made a mistake.... The humans call them witches. I should start calling them witches too." the robed man looked at him. However, before a large part of his robe was covering his face, the Shaman didn’t really know what the person looked like. However, there is one thing that he knew. ƒrēewebnovel.com
The one behind the robe is weaker than him.
He could kill him in one strike. However, there is another reason why he wasn’t going to do that.
And that is curiosity.
Humans who knew about that realm are few. Most of them were like Ulva and Babaylan who already lived a long... long life. Even the occupants of the other realms don’t really know about that realm. So... the fact that the robed man knew about it immediately piqued his interest.
The second reason is... he had suspicions that this man had something to do with the disappearance of Ava’s connection to her astral body.
"A strong witch... A shaman. Until now, they didn’t know that these people actually had fragments from the celestial realms." The man continued. "But you do... " the man sounded amused. "How fascinating..." the man got up.
"I have never seen a human stronger than me... someone, who knew about me." The man said.
"It seems that the number of people who don’t belong to this realm had increased over the years." The Shaman said.
"Isn’t that because this realm is... fantastic? Humans are weak little creatures who knew nothing about us. They were greedy and predictable. Boring and... curious."
"There is a reason why the guardians existed. The likes of you aren’t supposed to be here." The Shaman said.
’We are inside a plane... Shaman. This isn’t exactly the Earth’s realm, is it?"
The Shaman pursed his lips. The man was technically right. This is another plane, a smaller realm. Meaning, the laws of nature on Earth don’t apply in this space.
"That woman was a human...’ the Shaman said. The one that he just killed earlier was a human who had been experimented on. Eating a part of her heart gave him the memories that he seek.
The woman was just a normal baby that was stolen and had been experimented on since she was born. The celestial fragment inside her wasn’t natural. It had similarities to his own.
"You have been using them to satisfy your very own curiosity about their realm. That alone goes against any laws of nature." The Shaman added.
"Oh? It seems that the rumors about people like you are true."
"The heart holds everything..." the Shaman said. Sadness and happiness and memories that the person would never forget are always in their heart. Be it an embarrassing moment or something so shocking it made them faint. It was all in the person’s heart. Eating a person’s heart might sound frightening to normal people but the Shaman had been alive for hundreds of years.
At one point, he had tried everything just to entertain himself.
Does that sound disturbing?
Definitely!
But someone like him who was supposed to be immortal needed to find some time to occupy themselves or the loneliness that comes with immortality would kill him.
"I didn’t come here to make you my enemy..." the man said.
"Then why have you come?"
"Simple... I want you to work with me."
"Work with you?"
"Someone like you must have lived a long boring life. People your age spent their time studying the secrets of humanity, the secrets of the cosmos. They don’t spend their time coming into realms and involving themselves in the matters of the mortals. Work with me. Let us explore this cosmos together."
"And why would I work with you?" the Shaman said.
"Simple... My kind had been studying humans for only one reason. And that is... invasion."
"You wanted to invade the human realm?’
"Silently of course." The man said.
"Silently?"
"I have a way of slowly moving our consciousness to any human’s body."
The Shaman squinted his eyes. "That’s impossible. That method cannot be used on humans." Humans would die if someone with immense power would occupy their bodies.
"Didn’t you see that child?" the man gestured towards the dead woman’s body. "We made her body stronger. We have many kids like her. Oh... you will never believe how much a normal human could endure."
The Shaman frowned. It seemed that he now understood the reason why these people wanted humans.
