Chapter 423: Killing a God 15

"You really think we are capable of creating something like that woman? They had been studying her for more than twenty years! Naturally, she is different than the rest!"

"There had been rumors that at one point, that woman was pregnant. If only we could find that child of hers."

"Pregnant? That wouldn’t be possible. They had been trying to impregnate her for years. Yet, they weren’t able to succeed."

"Tsk.... Let us stop talking about something that only makes me more upset!"

The three men in robes continued to talk for a while before Ava decided to try and leave this place again. She was certain there was some sort of magick circle around that place but she couldn’t find it. Still, she chose to give it another try. So, she started roaming around and quickly discovered that this facility was humongous. The thing is, they had used magick to build this whole structure.

A project like this was just too big for it to be a secret. She couldn’t help but wonder how were they able to build this place. Did they use some sort of special magick to hide it from the King and Ulva?

After a few minutes, she went back to where Ulva had been kept. This time, Ulva was alone and it looked like she had been in pain. The tubes around her body increased after what she did earlier.

Ava continued roaming around until she started to feel dizzy. Does an astral body have the capability to feel dizzy? Obviously not! So... what is happening to her?

...........

Matthew felt like he had just woken up from a long deep sleep. His body felt sore from lying down for so long, and his mind was still a bit groggy.

He opened his eyes and realized that he wasn’t lying down. He was actually sitting on a... couch?

"I am glad to see that you are awake."

The man who spoke was sitting opposite him. Matthew immediately frowned. He had seen the man before. It was the man with green eyes.

"Who are you?" Matthew asked.

"Now, that is surprising." The man answered. "I always thought someone of your kind would know me..."

Matthew squinted. "You are... a guardian." The green eyes that looked like gems were a dead giveaway. However, when was the last time that he had met one of the guardians of realms? Hundreds? Perhaps even thousands of years ago!

"I am."

"Where are we?" Matthew asked. Guardians of realms are known as dream walkers. They could literally move someone from one realm to the other. But this seldom happens. Guardians of the realms only have one job and that is to prevent someone from another realm from entering the realm that they have been guarding. As guardians of the realm, they are at their strongest while inside the realm that they are guarding. Moreover, they could also do whatever they want to do inside that realm.

The only limitation is that they cannot do something that would harm the realm.

"In a plane... that I created. A pocket realm if you call it."

"And why have you summoned me?" The guardian didn’t kill him or just throw him to another realm. This only means one thing. He wanted to talk to him.

"Shouldn’t you already know why?" freewёbnoνel.com

"I haven’t done anything that could damage the realm that you are guarding." Matthew didn’t know which realm this man belonged to but he was certain he hadn’t done anything like that. Of course, he would understand why the guardian was wary of his existence.

"You could destroy any realm that you want," the Guardian said. "Your presence alone is enough to cause chaos. You cannot stay in that realm for too long."

"Are you trying to order me?"

"No. I am stating facts. Your kind had no business in the lower world. You cannot stay in the human world for too long. Or your enemies will hunt you down."

Matthew pursed his lips. He didn’t know if the man was simply stating facts or blatantly threatening him.

"Despite this, you still decided to stay," the Guardian said. "And I am not going to stop you from staying."

"What?" Matthew’s lips twitched.

Instead of answering his question, the guardian sighed. "Let me tell you a story."

Matthew said nothing. The thing is, Guardians are practically like gods in their own realm. They were made to keep their realms safe from invasion, to protect their existence. So if this guardian actually brought him inside his realm, then Matthew would have a hard time fighting against the man.

"There was once a guardian who fell in love with one of the occupants. One of his people." The guardian started. "Guardians are immortals and they can only procreate through other guardians. I believe you are already aware of this."

"I am," Guardians are simply different. They do not usually have a physical body. With their abilities, they could morph into anything that belongs to their realm. For example, a Guardian who is guarding the realm of giants could morph into a giant but it couldn’t morph into a cat since there were no cats in that realm. Likewise, the guardian protecting the human realm could morph into a cat since there is a cat in the human realm but cannot morph into a giant.

"Then do you perhaps have an idea what would happen if a guardian would make a mistake and accidentally create another life?"

"No. I haven’t heard of any guardians that could procreate outside of their own families." Matthew said. Guardians could only mate with other Guardians.

"In this story, the Guardian made a mistake. He created another life with a human."

"A guardian and a human!? That’s— "That’s like a god and a human! The human would die and the child born would end up dying as it wouldn’t be able to handle the god’s power inside its little body. "That’s impossible."

"It is not." The Guardian smiled. "I know... because I was that guardian."
